Shelly Chung Design fulfilled all our expectations. We initially contacted Shelly after seeing examples of her work on line; it seemed to coincide with our own tastes. After meeting with her, we chose her to manage our project of redesigning and decorating our one bedroom pied-a-terre co-op apartment in the city. As we were unable to be present for the all the work necessary, we hired Shelly to manage all aspects of the project. She was simply phenomenal. She hired and coordinated all the professionals necessary for the job, including the plumber and contractor. She coordinated the work with our co-op building including obtaining necessary permits. She ordered and oversaw the installation of all the furniture, curtains, and accessories. Shelly's organization and skill allowed her to see not only the big picture but also to monitor all the small details, and thereby quickly correct any missteps. In addition to all of her managerial skills, Shelly has a wonderful stylistic vision. She managed to create a beautiful and inviting apartment while also making the space appear larger and brighter. I can honestly say that all my expectations were exceeded. Throughout the entire process, Shelly communicated in a direct manner, but still allowed for our own considerable input and taste. As much of our communication was long distance, we utilized Pinterest and periodic phone calls in a highly effective manner. My wife and I truly appreciated the collaborative process. She really tried to make sure we were happy with our final choices and would obtain clear confirmation from us before a particular purchase. As for the cost, Shelly was mindful of our agreed upon cost estimates and was respectful of any of our choices which hinged upon price, often times providing us with various options. We couldn't be happier with how are new apartment turned out! We highly recommend Shelly Chung Design without any reservations.

I am delighted to have met and begun working with Shelly Chung on needed changes to my apartment. She has just helped me with a lovely window treatment, helping me pick the perfect blinds, shopping and finding for me the most beautiful fabric for a valance, and having it all completed and installed in record time. Shelly has a unique eye for color and design, and equally important, is adept at helping me articulate my wishes, while offering her suggestions and guidance in a most helpful way. Shelly is a true pleasure to work with. Not only is she consummately professional (making sure I know where we are on our schedule, how much I'm spending, and what I'm spending it on), she's extremely creative and just an overall joy to be around. Shelly listened to what my needs were and how I wanted my apartment to look, and took my ideas and ran with them, beautifully and with true simplicity of style. Beyond that, Shelly is just fun to be with, smiling, centered and present. I'm happy to say our collaboration on my bachelor pad apartment continues!

Shelly did a great job helping us do our second bathroom. She was there every step of the way making sure her contractor was thorough and made sure everything was as we talked about. We had a clear idea of what we wanted, and she was happy to let us express our ideas as she figured out how to bring them to life. When something wasn't right, she made sure it was done again until it was right. She's was very easy to work with and would recommend her.

In the spring of 2012 Shelly was the designer for the renovation of my one-bedroom apartment, which I had purchased in its original, poor condition from the 1960s. Shelly was a calm, steady presence throughout the process who helped me transform the apartment while staying in my budget. The kitchen and bathroom were renovated, which also involved removing a partial wall and replacing the wood floors. Shelly came up with great design solutions and material selections for tile, etc., that brought my original ideas to life and exceeded them. Shelly is also extremely organized and worked well with contractor and building management. The project was completed in the expected time frame and didn't exceed the estimated budget. I get many compliments on this renovation and am very happy with the final results:

I have hired Shelly several times since we bought our apartment in Brooklyn 3 years ago (see "Brooklyn Creative" photos). Although I am a designer myself (graphic designer), I feel out of my element when it comes to decorating my apartment. When I hire Shelly, I know I can relax and everything will be beautiful in a style that suits me perfectly. Shelly choose the color palette (paint colors) for our entire apartment--I get compliments on these colors whenever we have guests. She developed a furniture plan for the open concept living area. Worked with me to select most of the furniture and the rugs, which included tracking down a vintage, mid century modern dining set that I absolutely love. Just a few days ago she helped me find bedding for our new king bed. I was overwhelmed with the vast selection of beautiful bedding at ABC Home. Within 20 minutes of shopping with Shelly, she showed me several options that would work in the room. Her ideas are always fresh and unique and I absolutely love the new bedding! In addition to having a wonderful aesthetic, Shelly to extremely easy to work with. She is easy going and firm at the same time. She's a true professional who can handle any design project from soap to nuts. She is honest, trustworhty and very responsive. I highly recommend you give her a call!

In 2010 my wife, Julianne, and I moved from our two-family Post-Victorian to a 1100 square foot Coop in Riverdale NY. Julianne had designed our old home in a "shabby chic style" blending antiques with art work. This worked well in an Post-Victorian house but our Coop was newly renovated in a "modern" style. We wanted to incorporate the warmth and color of our old home without clashing with our new surroundings. The problem was we were clueless about where to start! That's where Shelly came to our rescue. She guided us through the design process with a gentle hand, keeping us on track with our goal. She listened with patience to our ideas and opinions, went shopping with us and searched the internet for options and alternatives in case we needed them. When the project was completed we had an apartment that was artistically designed and functional. We trusted her instincts and were rewarded with a BEAUTIFUL home. Thank you Shelly - it was fun!

I hired Shelly Chung to help me in the remodeling of my small, galley kitchen. She found the perfect tile for the floor and helped me pick the best cabinets and hardware to reface my old, existing cabinets. She also found the perfect lighting for my ceiling. In addition, she was extremely pleasant to work with and was very accommodating. Shelly has wonderful ideas and I highly recommend her. I do not think I could have done this without her help.

Shelly came to me by referral and I am so thankful she did. I had just left my full-time corporate job to focus more on our home and raising our three little kids. We had recently refinanced our apartment (i.e., committed to staying in a small 1,000 square foot Brooklyn floor-through apartment) and I was suddenly feeling daunted and overwhelmed by our busy lives and our lack of space. Shelly helped me reconfigure our entire layout to create more storage and more living area. She helped me visualize the rooms differently. We merged my den and my living room to create a bigger bedroom for my two sons. We ditched the idea of a home office to provide my daughter with her own room. Shelly organized my book shelves (by color!), helped me pick bunk beds, consulted on paint and floor tiles, re-located my kitchen appliances based on how I used them, tossed many, many needless items, and overall helped me adopt a "less-is-more" type of philosophy with regard to my home and keeping it organized -- and beautiful. She designed several different options for our bathroom cabinetry, sourced the builder and the hardware, and oversaw the job from start to finish. We are thrilled with the final result. She is firm yet not pushy, fast and resourceful, and keeps an open mind. She worked with me like a friend and really considered our lifestyle and routines to offer the most sensible and well-considered solutions. From the small, functional stuff to the bigger, more stylized stuff, Shelly is a pro on all levels. She has a lovely, easy-going temperament. She got me going (when I didn't know where to begin) and kept me focused. She has a keen eye for maximizing space, and a ruthless mantra for organizing. Shelly is a gem and worth every penny. Her consultation will last a lifetime -- we will eventually outgrow our little apartment, but her style and advice on function and organization will last a lifetime.
