Sherrill Canet is the principal designer of Sherrill Canet Interiors, a Manhattan and Long Island based firm. Sherrill has been designing interiors for over 20 years. Sherrill’s passion for interiors started with a passion for antiques developed after a 5 year stay in London. On her return armed with a container load of furniture, Sherrill’s first antiques shop, Bellwether Antiques was opened. In providing outstanding and stylish furnishings for her clients the entire interior design commissions were a natural progression. Now Sherrill Canet Interiors consists of two fully staffed offices with complete design service capabilities, from initial concepts and working drawings to placement of final accessories. The firm has designed important residential projects across the country and internationally for high-profile clients in business, sports, and the arts. The firm’s projects range in scope from new construction projects with superior design and project management to major renovations and interior design and decoration. Currently Sherrill Canet Interiors is engaged in projects located in New York, Connecticut, Palm Beach, San Francisco, and the Hamptons. Sherrill Canet Interiors has participated in prestigious showhouses including Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club, Southampton, and Cancer Research. Austin Patterson Disston Architects
Austin Patterson Disston Architects has had the pleasure of working with Sherrill Canet Interiors on a number of new house projects over the past 15 years. She and her staff approach each project with a fresh pallet, creating signature vibrant interiors that meet the client’s needs and complement our architecture. Her work is of the highest professional quality on all levels: design, organization, maintaining a budget and completing a project as specified. We highly recommend Sherrill and her professional staff of interiors designers.
Sherrill Canet has amazingly chic taste and is so easy to work with. We have worked on several projects together and she works equally as well with carte blanche as tight budget. I think she is particularly good at using inexpensive products in creative and dramatic ways. Her home is an ever changing demonstration of how once can dramatically change a room without major expense. She is particularly great at high drama window treatments and courageous mixes of fabrics and objects within a room to make it truly magical. Our first job went so well that we used her again for our weekend home. We are not good decision makers and have trouble agreeing as a couple and Sherrill wins the diplomacy award for her patience and skill at coming up with a solution that appealed to both of us. Several of our friends have worked with her too....and all extremely happy. If only we had another project to do together.
The project was a multimillion dollar duplex apartment combination. Sherrill Canet was dishonest with us, added no value to our project and took us for big bucks. My wife and I hired her, only received some unproductive meetings. We recently found that she has her own furniture line which she neglected to disclose and was she was intending to push her own goods on us while charging us huge fee. On multiple occasions she and her staff claimed that they were out sourcing and shopping and after being billed 10s of thousands of dollars I received nothing. What is sad is that she knew this was the first time my wife and I had done a project and she took advantage of us.
