About Us

Studio Nish was created out of a desire to collaborate directly with local Bay Area clients. Having worked in San Francisco with notable design firms such as Gensler, Studios Architecture and the Wiseman Group, I was fortunate to be exposed to projects ranging from hotel interiors to law firms and private residences. From Fairmont Hotels to San Francisco skyscrapers and Sonoma estates, I had the opportunity to get a taste for the vast and richly layered world of interior design. Born in Japan and having moved halfway around the globe by the time I was 9 years old, different cultures and languages were a thing I was constantly exposed to. From temples to castles and iconic skylines, my visual catalogue was profuse and growing fast. Creating a sense of home in each new city became a necessity, embodying nuances from every place I had been along the way. Cultures were mixed and layered, design elements cross-bred. Design became the mechanism by which to create home each time. We all forge our sense of place in this way, highlighting our best memories, blending old with new and defining where we belong. It is my utmost pleasure to work with clients in this unique and enduring phase of their lives; creating that thing we call home.

Dalia was wonderful in designing our kitchen remodel. She listened carefully to my ideas and translated my rudimentary plan into a beautiful, spacious new kitchen and living area. She brought new ideas and considerations to the design process. I really appreciated her patience with me through multiple renderings to get to that final design. New open kitchen looks fantastic!

It's hard to know where to begin when starting a project. Since this was my first remodel I didn't really know what the procedure was in getting starting on such a project. On our first meeting Dalia answered all my questions patiently and also made smart suggestions. I quickly realized she was the designer I wanted to work with. She understood what I wanted and helped me navigate through the needs and wants of my project. After a couple of meetings and when the design was completed Dalia made a computer layout of my new kitchen which was used to start and complete the kitchen. The end result was better than I could imagine. It was a delight to work with Dalia who was always on time and so pleasant to work with and has great design sense. Her services are highly recommended.

Lauren Miller

Dalia from Studio Nish helped me pick colors for my new home as well as advised me on options for refinishing my hardwood floors. Dalia was so easy to work with. I was feeling overwhelmed by the process but after talking to Dalia I knew what I wanted to do. She helped me see how I could use color to create the feel I was after and how colors would read on the wall, which can be hard to do from a paint chip for a non-professional. Based on her advice I changed some of the colors I had selected and was so glad I did. Dalia also guided me through the options for staining and refinishing my floors, which I’d never done before. Again, based on Dalia’s advice I was able to achieve just the feel I wanted and with a more eco and kid friendly finish than originally planned. Thank you Dalia!

Dalia from Studio Nish helped us with our addition project. We added a master’s bedroom and a bathroom to our home, and renovated two bedrooms. We started working with Dalia before doing anything else. We talked a lot about what we would like to achieve, looked pictures, and created detailed drawings of our future bathroom and about all the cabinets. We hired a contractor exactly knowing what we want and how we want it - regarding to the bathroom layout and design, as well as built in cabinet designs. Working with a professional interior designer from the very beginning was the best thing we could have done. Dalia communicated with the builder about details we were not even thinking about, she made sure that everything is done according to the design. She gently helped us on the way, and made sure every detail is agreed on. She also pushed the professionals we worked with to think outside of the box to achieve what we desired. It was a wonderful experience to work with her. I highly recommend Dalia because she is a creative designer, and she is knowledgeable about technical details regarding construction work. Our addition is beautiful – down to the smallest detail. We could not have accomplish this without Dalia’s help as an interior designer, who was part of the project from the beginning to the very end. Thank you, Dalia. I worked with Dalia to remodel our guest bathroom, and I found her to be really great to work with. This was the first time I was remodeling a part of the house, and she helped guide me through the process and get the work done in a timely manner. I didn't always know what I wanted, so she took the time to understand my design preferences, present me with options, and give her expert opinion when I needed it.
