We get so many compliments on the rooms that Susan designed. Everything looks well thought-out, but not overdesigned. Susan does a great job of listening to our preferences but pushing us out of our comfort zone to achieve a fantastic result. She did an excellent job mixing designer pieces with finds from less expensive retailers and always gave us options in various price points. The rooms are all well designed, but don't scream "a designer did this" -- it is what I would love to be able to do on my own! We have used Susan for several projects over time -- and will use her again.

A true professional, Susan takes the time to learn about a client's tastes and preferences, will introduce you to new possibilities and gently nudge you to expand your horizons. Best of all, Susan listens to the client and remains in excellent communication. There are never any surprises! Personally, I now have a greater appreciation for colors, fabrics and textures, and their importance. The quality of Susan's work was and remains superb, and I constantly receive compliments on the furnishings, drapes and other items she selected. I have absolute confidence in Susan's knowledge and instincts. She will work with you and your budget. Retain Susan!

Working with Susan was terrific. I hired her to provide interior decorating advice for my new home. She took the hassle out of selecting from the thousands of choices from draperies, to paint, wallpaper and furniture. She researched products and provided a multitude of choices that were within my budget. Her network of professional installers was first-rate. She was conscientious, meticulous and dedicated to making me happy. Plus, she has a great sense of humor and a delight to work with.

Susan's help on refreshing three rooms in our house was invaluable. It was a complex job with lots of moving parts. The open floor plan - living and dining space - had to work together and I wanted lots of color and patterns. Susan offered numerous options and we selected 8 fabulous fabrics. We also upgraded the sunroom with 4 additional fabrics. We purchased 2 new loveseats, 2 side chairs and a bench. Other pieces - i.e. dining room chairs seats were re-upholstered; kitchen chairs re-painted and new seat cushions made. Susan would offer at least two price point options and make suggestions about window treatment, cleaning existing rugs and wall colors.

I had Susan pick fabrics for a chair to be recovered and for new toss pillows. She picked beautiful fabrics that went perfectly with my existing furniture. She is very professional and really cares about making your home beautiful. I found her approach amazing and very refreshing because I felt as if she was doing this project as if this was her own home. The upholsterer did a fantastic job of recovering my chair and her seamstress did a great job on the pillows. The project was done in record time. The budget was extremely reasonable.

Services included reupholstery, window treatments for 3 rooms, advice on new floor covering and fabric selection. Susan was a delightful professional to work with on updating and adding colors to our first floor of a smallish Old Town Alexandria Va home. She was quick to understand our taste and preferences and was very fast and flexible in getting our work done. Would definitely recommend her services!

Susan helped me decorate two apartments -- first a studio and now a one-bedroom -- and I cannot recommend her more highly! I know what I like interior design-wise, but have troubling executing. This is where Susan came in. I described my design aesthetic, and she understood it immediately. She worked with my existing furniture and recommended a few key new pieces, which really added to the space. She also suggested that I reupholster some of my furniture, and picked out the perfect fabrics. She was also very conscious of budget, and always suggested things that were in my price point. Visitors always compliment my apartment, and I have Susan to thank for that!

Working with Susan was a pleasure from start to finish. We hired her to help us redecorate and reinvigorate our dreary living room, though we didn't want to buy a lot of new furniture at the time. She helped us completely change the mood of the room despite our requests to use many things we already owned-- she was able to give them new life. Susan was responsive, encouraging, and very aware of making sure that we were getting what we wanted and spending what we wanted, too. I worked with Susan to redecorate my living and dining rooms and she hit it out of the ballpark! With two small children (ages 2 and 4 at the time), I wanted a modern take on traditional design that could also withstand children. I appreciated that, as a mother herself, she understood how the room would be used and honored my request for durable (yet fashionable) decor. Bottom line is that she truly listened to what I needed and then took it up a few notches! What we ended up with absolutely exceeded my expectations. The colors are bright - yellows, pinks, navy- but not overpowering . It is my vision on steroids. My kids now call it the "cheerful room". Without a doubt, I will be retaining Susan again on future projects.

I have worked with Susan over the years to update and refresh my house. She is always professional, insightful and fun to work with. Susan has an ability to work with color and pattern that is unique. She's a good listener and was always concerned that I got the best version of what I wanted. Working with Susan was a delight. Pure delight! She encouraged and inspired me in new creative ways. And with such a gentle manner. I found my design aspirations and budget realities were often misaligned. Susan expertly directed me toward functional alternatives. And brought cohesion and ingenuity where I may have otherwise cluttered or over-programmed the space. I've since caught a "design bug" following this first project, and brought Susan back for a consultation on a second project. I feel more confident proceeding with her blessing.

We bought a new house with great potential, but it's main rooms -- dining, family and living -- had very little character. They were really just large featureless spaces. Susan came in and completely changed all that! We were simply amazed by the transformation. In two months, these rooms went from unremarkable to ready for a Veranda photo shoot. Susan is widely admired for her skills as a colorist, with the perfect combination of bold but subtle. She encouraged us to go much further than we would have ourselves, but the result is sophisticated and holistically satisfying. Her design ingenuity is remarkable. By adding only a few new pieces here and there, and changing the way we arranged furniture and displayed art objects, she rebuilt our main public rooms from the ground up with a creativity and zeal we could never have imagined. Susan definitely has a strong design vision for each project, but she is also a superb listener. We have worked before with designers who get carried away with their own vision of a project and stop listening to the client, but that never happened with Susan. Her passion was infectious and her attention to how we wanted to live in these rooms made for the perfect combination. Ultimately, any project of this size is substantially about value, and here Susan really delivered. Our home was completely transformed in all of its main rooms for much less than we thought we would have to spend. The whole project was a blast and very satisfying, and we can't wait to work with Susan again. She is a rising star in the D.C. design world, and now we know why!
