Urbanism Designs

Over the last few years, Pamela has helped us decorate every room and, most recently (yes, in 2020), renovate the kitchen and family room. We have found her to be creative, patient, organized, realistic, and responsive - a true design professional and a pleasure to work with! During the initial kitchen reno design, she listened to all of our must haves (from a functional standpoint) and then worked to incorporate those within her beautifully simplistic design. One of her guiding design principles is that “less is more”, and she always has an eye to how hard things are to clean - steering away from that which is unnecessarily labor intensive. After creating the initial designs, Pamela connected us with all her people - all shared the characteristics listed above. During the renovation process, she helped us to preserve some of our old cabinetry (by painting in the new color scheme) in an effort to have a more environmentally sustainable project and steered us toward using porcelain on our island as a robust and indestructible material. We sit in our family room looking back at our kitchen shocked at the transformation that has happened. It is beautiful and functional - an actual joy to cook and live in - and we have Pam to thank as the primary lead in making that happen! I look forward to working with her more!

Pamela is an awesome designer to work with - has an incredible eye, is full of good ideas, is organized, detailed and responsive. She helped us concept out our kitchen remodel, worked with us through various ideas, has connections to suppliers and also referred a contractor team to work with, all of whom were great and collaborative to work with. Pamela made a daunting project that much more manageable and smooth. Best of all, we now have a renovated kitchen that is perfectly functional and looks amazing.

Pamela Lin is a highly stylish yet pragmatic designer. Pamela is so flexible and knowledgable that she can work with anyone. After talking with us over a few emails and phone conversations, she understood our general taste and aesthetic, and provided amazing choices for furniture, fixtures, faucets, et al. Pamela is also patient and understands the value of a good relationship. We began talking to her before her stint on HGTV, and when we were about to pull the trigger on a full master bathroom renovation, she got swept away by cable TV. Fast forward to 2019 and we began the conversation with Pamela again. She was the same upbeat, friendly design guru that we had met - HGTV had not changed her at all. We planned for a March 2020 start, but obviously, things got delayed. We picked right up in July, and her crew was gentle to our home, professional, and wore masks and took their temperatures consistently. The only delays were in lead-times for furniture or materials. We also had a couple of design changes along the way, and Pamela would whip up design solutions immediately to suit our taste. While the whole project was very swift and smooth, it was that way because all the small bumps along the way were quickly smoothed out by Pamela and her team. We couldn’t be happier about our bathroom renovation, and we are actively looking for more projects in our home to work on with Urbanism Designs!

My husband and I worked with Pamela in mid to late 2019 to redesign/refurnish part of our home. It was a wonderful experience. Within the first 30 minutes of our first meeting we knew we wanted Pamela to design our home. Loved her design ideas and fact that she took the time to thoroughly listen to our needs/lifestyle and very much approachable when we wanted an option different from what she suggested. Pamela was also very efficient, well organized and detail oriented. Billing was always felt fair and accurate. She took into consideration minor details which we would've never thought of and it has made a significant difference as we live in our newly designed home. We had a few hiccups on the construction side of the project and Pamela was extremely patient and accommodative towards last minute changes we had to make. Would definitely work with Pamela again!! Almost miss working with her :).

"WOW!" That's the word that best describes the work Pamela has done for me. I have worked with many designers and Pamela is by far the best that I have had the pleasure to work with. Many designers have their own designs and they try to persuade you into complying to what they've built. Pamela approaches things a bit differently. She sits down with you, listens to your needs/requirements, and provides you with many visuals to spice up your creative ideas. Once you/her get a good feeling on what is expected, she then builds a design and works on every detail to make it a reality. (The level of detail she gets into is impressive) She has gone above and beyond what I have expected. If I can give her 200 stars, I would. Pam, You have a great talent and passion in this space. You are really really good. I look forward to working with you on all future projects.

There are so many good things to say about Pamela. As we began the process of remodeling three of our bathrooms, Pamela was spot-on in understanding each user’s specific needs and personality while still maintaining a cohesive look from room to room. Her calm demeanor and expertise ensured that the project ran smoothly from beginning to end with beautiful results. She’s now designing the remainder of our home. Pamela is skillfully utilizing current furnishings when appropriate and adding just the right pieces for a new-and-improved look. Her memory and ability to visualize are crazy-good and have often left us dumbfounded. She is careful, considerate, and classy. We are complete and utter fans.

I had a pleasure to have Pamela work on our modern Nordic house construction project. She helped me to choose all materials, colors, lighting fixtures, furniture etc and recommended me an outstanding cabinet maker to build our kitchen and bathrooms. She has high attention to detail, and amazing eye for color combinations. She listens carefully to understand my needs and wants, and brings out different options for different price categories. She provides her ideas and feedback clearly, but never tries to overrule my choices. She recommended us several unique details (light fixtures, fire places, tiles) with decent budget which made our house to be our home far away from home.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful my experience was in working Pamela and Urbanism Designs. We moved into our home in Fall of 2018, and, while we were very happy to find a place that did not need anything in terms of a structural remodel, I was less happy to be moving into the style of house this was -- much more traditional than my liking. Not to mention, not much of my stuff from the old house would work in this (and most of my furniture and decor was due a major upgrade anyway.) I had been referred to Pamela by a friend whose house was GORGEOUS after working with Pamela, so I was excited that she had space for me. When we walked the house the first time, we talked about how we could modernize the house while still respecting it's original style and knowing that there were some things that would be major surgery to change and that we could use decor workarounds to downplay them. From our first meeting, I knew this was going to be a great fit, as Pamela has an incredible eye for what will work in a room and tie to an overall aesthetic in the house, while understanding my style preferences (and maybe even getting me to think out of the box for a few decisions, which I am very happy she gave me some options to do!). Pamela worked with us on everything from paint color (we changed basically every wall color in the house and eventually painted the outside too, where she also played a big role in our thinking) to new lighting fixtures (we replaced almost all in the house) to picking new window treatments for most rooms to helping us curate almost every piece of furniture we have in most rooms in the house to also curating other pieces of decor to give each room its own look and feel. I would guess that Pamela and I looked at nearly 1000+ products/options together and took a hundred decisions along the way, and, all through that, Pamela made it incredibly easy for me to look at a curated set of options in a very manageable way, weigh those decisions, see how they would look in the room and ultimately in placing and tracking an order -- she guided each decision soup to nuts and it was an relatively easy lift for me each time. This was one of the most important things to me given I have a super busy job and small kids and am generally always feel busy. She is incredibly fast, very responsive and absolutely attuned to all the things going on in life and strives to make it as turnkey as possible (which doesn't mean rushing decisions at all -- she is wonderful about talking through each one and deliberating with me, even on the smallest of details). She's thoughtful to the needs of a family and does an awesome job balancing practical and aesthetic considerations. (She also has an amazing network of installers and other specialists, which was a huge asset and all were incredibly high quality and professional. Pamela also played a very important coordinating role with these folks, which I very much needed and appreciated.) I have become so enamored with Pamela's taste, especially because she knows exactly what I like and what is needed in our house, that I have even recently asked her to help me pick out door mats!:) I cannot say enough good things about Pamela and Urbanism Designs. Our house has been transformed to the point that it is hard to believe the before photos. It feels like "us" now and reflects our style in way that blends with the architecture. She has truly helped to make this house a home and one about which I'm constantly getting compliments!

Pamela is a fabulous designer and a joy to work with. At the outset, she listened so well to my needs (budget, taste, busy working mom with limited time) and made the process of refurnishing our living and family rooms truly a pleasure. She has a wonderful design sense, but also is super efficient and a very good communicator. She selected items that matched our taste and our style goals at different price points. She generally responded to emails within hours. She has a vast knowledge of stores and online vendors to source products. She is versatile and flexible to meet her clients' specific needs and goals. I am so grateful for her expertise and thoughtfulness in helping to make our home more beautiful!!

Pamela is awesome to work with! Not only does she have a fabulous aesthetic sense, she is pragmatic and resourceful and stays on target with budgets. Whether you're selecting investment pieces you want to splurge on or making more pared down selections, she adapts to her clients' needs. I would love to work with her again!

Pamela is exceptional. Her design sensibility is off the charts - unique, modern, clean and beautiful. She pairs things that I would never have thought of and it looks amazing. She is also an incredible person to work with - smart, quick to understand what we wanted, thoughtful, hardworking and always offering many options. Most importantly, she has an awesome attitude - she is always cheerful, upbeat and fun to work with. She just jumps in and figures it all out with you. We moved into a modern house and while we had some of our furniture, we needed a lot of pieces to make the house feel like a home. Pamela came over, understood our style, took measurements and then put together mood boards for each area. Then, she was fantastic at sourcing dozens of options for us to choose from. She helped us narrow it down and choose the best, most unique piece for each room. She was also excellent at working with our existing pieces to find good spots for them and make them work with the new pieces. Pamela also came up with the plan to place all our existing art. We have over a hundred pieces, spanning photos, sculpture and paintings and Pamela spent hours reviewing images of the pieces and selecting the perfect spots. She did this all without the actual art. When the art showed up, we followed her suggestions and it looks awesome. Pam is a joy to work with. I could not recommend her more highly and keep trying to find excuses to continue working with her.

We had a great experience working with Pamela. We had just moved into a "new to us" older home that we had bought off-market and needed a lot of cosmetic updates with a pretty small budget. Pamela helped us clean up the overall look of the interior with recommendations for blinds, paint, and carpets. She reviewed and made recommendations on updated lighting fixtures and hardware for the doors. She also took a lot of measurements and was able to recommend the correct sizes for furniture, area rugs, and artwork for our new space. Her approach was flexible and I was able to source the items I felt comfortable selecting, but she was always available to review my selections and make recommendations for other items I would never have found on my own. Finally, she pulled the whole look together with art and throw pillow recommendations. Pamela was always extremely responsive to any questions. We are so happy with the way everything turned out and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Pamela.
