I found Heidi through an acquaintance that literally could not stop raving about how good Heidi was and what a great design eye she has...and I have to say after working with her on my very large remodel (completely gutted 2900 sq ft house and raised roof) I have to say I agree completely...Heidi has amazing style. There's so many things I like about working with Heidi... 1. it's immediately obvious she has a strong eye for what works and what doesn't work. you can see it immediately as you talk through things with her. 2. she can manage to multiple styles. although i would say her innate stye is more modern than mine, she was able to work with my "shabby chic/country cottage/traditional" innate style and help me "elevate" my style and yet not abandon my traditional style. 3. she's flexible and always there when you need her. my project went on for a long time, with lots of bumps, and ran into several issues...and i brought her in very very very late into the game while the construction issues and mistakes were already made...and she jumped right in, rolled up her sleeves, and helped me get on the right path. 4. she's so likable. so friendly. kind. easy to work with. fun. i loved working with her. she feels like a good friend. she never made me feel uncomfortable when i was trying to cut costs - i always felt completely comfortable with her. 5. she's professional and dependable. 6. she's a good listener. she understood all my thoughts, ideas, concerns, fears, pontifications... Our house came out amazing. Heidi challenged me to execute a several things I would NEVER have done on my own and every time she was right. I would recommend Heidi to anyone who's looking for an enjoyable partner to create and execute elevated design in a professional yet fun process.

Working with White Space Design was the best decision we made! We found ourselves frustrated, spinning our wheels on the redesign of our kitchen. Heidi stepped in and immediately helped us think outside of the box. She proposed a fresh layout that was not only functional, but was also very much aligned with our design aesthetic. Our home is an early 1900’s construction in San Francisco with many constraints. Heidi tackled design and architectural obstacles with our contractor—serving as our advocate along the way. She is incredibly creative and nimble and very sensitive to budgets and timing. Given some exciting and unexpected life changes, we ended up tabling the full redesign of our space and instead decided on a hard refresh of the existing space. Heidi was very understanding of the situation and continued to offer counsel as we changed course. We couldn’t be happier with the experience of having Heidi on our team. She acts as a true partner through the entire process and is really enjoyable to work with. We look forward to teaming up with Heidi again on future projects!

We worked with Heidi and her team on our first condo and loved the outcome so much that she was the first person I called when it was time to move to our next home. She has an incredible eye for art, color, and detail. She listens to her clients, understands their taste and overall needs. For both projects, I approached her asking her to provide me with a design with an extremely tight deadline. Since I wanted a fresh new look for both projects, I asked her to take a completely different approach on what my apartment at the time looked like. She thought of every single detail, created palettes and inspirations for me to help me establish my style. She presented me with many incredible options which helped me narrow down and understand my taste. She worked closely with vendors and recommended them based on quality, price and project. She also came onsite and made sure their work is up to par. Heidi and her team have been an incredible help in the design and look of our home. They made my home look artistic, fashionable and most importantly warm and welcoming. They are professional, friendly, quick and I absolutely loved working with Heidi and her team. I have and would highly recommend them.

Working with Heidi is wonderful. I’ve had the pleasure of working with her on a complete multi level home gut remodel in San Francisco, and I can’t say I could be more happy with the results. She in a very short timeframe was able to work out the look, feel and overall interior style with the homeowner and architectural team, and then get together all the detailed specs needed for an entire pricing and construction set. She has a great sense of style, and was very useful and convincing in helping the homeowner come to decisions throughout the whole process. I hope to work with Heidi on more great projects in the future.

We photographed a project for Heidi at White Space Design and both project and client were an absolute pleasure. It's evident right away that Heidi has that extra element of chic and knowledge of art and design and that, along with great taste, she brings enthusiasm and fun to the day. It was also obvious that her client, the homeowner, was really happy with her home. An A+ from us.

Heidi helped us with a top to bottom custom new construction home. This was a huge project and thank goodness I hired her. Heidi helped me with effective space planning for all the rooms. She helped make sure each room was positioned to have everything I wanted whether it was storage or better flow. She took the time to know our lifestyle enough to be able to anticipate what we might want in a space. She helped with all interior finishes: every single thing that went into the bathrooms and kitchen (hardware, tile, plumbing fixtures, towel holders, etc.). She helped design the extensive built in cabinetry for the kitchen, great room, bedrooms, upper hall and all the bathrooms. These designs were unique and she worked through the process and every revision with the cabinet maker to get it exactly right. She helped design me an incredible huge, mirrored medicine cabinet with built in interior outlets to store electric toothbrushes inside (this bring me pleasure every single day). She helped choose every light fixture to maximize style but also effective light. She helped with beautiful closet organization that was better (in my opinion) and far cheaper than something like California Closets. And when the building was done, she then helped with all the interior decor including furniture, wall paper, paint colors, rugs, lamps, throw pillows, art, bedding, towels, you name it. As you can see, building a new home requires thousands of decisions! The result is a house that gets oohs and aahs from everyone who enters. I still can't believe I live somewhere that looks like a magazine. Heidi has amazing style. Her eye for color is incredible and her taste is impeccable. It was important to us that our house not look and feel like a catalog. Although we prefer modern design, we also did not want something too cold or minimalist. We are also incredibly picky. Heidi knew exactly how to interpret what we wanted and also discovered new things that would make our look more elevated and refined. She was able to give us what we wanted but also help us want what we didn’t know before. I had never worked with a designer before (nor had I ever built a house) and I had no idea how incredibly overwhelming it would be. The array of choices and decisions was paralyzing. Heidi was able to create a thematic vision of the home that was reflected in every choice. It makes such a difference to a home when it is designed in this unified way rather than a haphazard selection of what you think you like. She was also able to problem solve all the hundreds of issues that arose during the build and help keep me sane. Heidi is a serious professional. She is dedicated to her craft and makes your project her priority. Her communication is always clear cut and rational and her presentation of inspiration boards for each room was the always the highlight of our day. I recommend Heidi without reservation. Honestly, if you are renovating or building a new home, it is worth it to include hiring a professional like her in your budget. In the end it will maximize the value of your home.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience working with Heidi Kim. I have so many positive things to say, I honestly don’t know where to start! She truly took the time to understand our taste, our budget and our overall needs as a family and took the overwhelming-ness out of our 8 month Hillsborough home remodel and made it fun. I've never done a review in bullet points before, but I think otherwise I will end up writing an essay. • Felt like we were truly working as a team and collaborated on ideas and styles. She would send me stuff, I would send her stuff, and we would decide together what would work best. Made us feel confident about our decisions (of which there were so many). • She is not a "yes man"..and if she didn’t like something or thought it wouldn't match or fit in as well she let us know and always offered alternatives which I ended up liking way better than my original choice. • She directed me towards super cool websites and stores I didn’t know existed, including the go to places in the Design Center. She would meet me there and we would check everything out together. • She would send us super cool visual layout concepts so we can see how everything would be set up and what would go best with what…making it easier to make choices as well. • She designed multiple custom built ins-for us, that were super sleek and stylish and very clever in terms of how we would use them for storage and everyday access..which fit our family needs perfectly. • We had consistent meetings, her communication was above and beyond in every way, she was always organized, efficient, on time, prepred, and full of positivity. • She counter balanced our contractors and vendors with her own set of awesome ideas, cost reductions, work arounds and improvements. Plus she helped us go over all estimates..which was a huge help! • She kept us on track with deadlines and timelines, and if I was lagging on something she would either proactively do it for me (like order things or email me ideas) or send me friendly reminders..which I needed. And she was patient! • She has amazing style and always brought in cool samples of fabrics and materials for me to check out. • She has a great sense of humor and is very easy to work with. Both my husband and I loved her. As did our General Contractor. And the best part is the result! Our home feels like us, fits our lifestyle and makes us super happy!! Both the process and the result exceeded my expectations. I have referred Heidi to several friends already and will continue to do so. She is just a pleasure to work with, she is knowledgeable, professional, honest, fun, and you can really feel how involved she is in your project and in helping you achieve your vision. We can't even imagine how we would have done this without her!

I had the privilege to work with Heidi and her team on a home in Hillsborough and it was a phenomenal experience. Heidi was thoughtful in her recommendations in regards to budget and timing while also considerate of the homeowners goals. The end result was an amazing translation from the homeowners dreams into reality. As a builder, working with Heidi was great. She is super organized and when something came up she was there with practical, yet elegant solutions to quickly allow us to keep moving. I would highly recommend working with White Space.
