He had not attacked that process before, but researched it with not only a local big box store, but the paint distributor as well. He has also painted another bath and done several home projects for me. He is a great guy and does beautiful work. He is very conscientious and a perfectionist.”

“Darcy built our dream home in 2000. It is a magnificent piece of work, with many ingenuous ideas and custom additions that add to it's total uniqueness and beauty. The home is close to 4,000 sq ft. It is 2 stories, and has 4 bedrooms with custom closets, 4 and 1/2 baths, an upper level toy room, and a gift wrapping/storage room. The main level has a gorgeous custom kitchen with fireplace, a huge mudroom with utility sink and plenty of storage, a 2 story great room with fireplace and balcony, a beautiful office with French doors, and lovely dining room. The master bedroom is on the main level. The master bedroom and the kitchen have twin bump out bays with French doors that lead onto the patio. The full finished basement is complete with a full bath and has a huge fireplace, and a custom built "dog room", with a raised tub for easy canine bathing, and a walk out door to easily accommodate the comings and goings of pets. There are so many storage closets that even I, a huge pack rat, had empty shelves! The house also is heated and cooled with geo-thermal, with Darcy co-ordinating the installation of the system with the HVAC company. Darcy doesn't build many homes from scratch due to his refusal to lower his standards, and thus his price, as a home is being built. However, this did not deter us, and we were soo fortunate that he decided to take our project on. Yes, it was not a cheap build, however, it still stands today (unfortunately for me, with a new owner) as the standout home in Douglas County, Illinois. The basement was dug on March 2, 2000, and we were moving in on Oct 2nd of 2000. Not only did Darcy and his crew and sub-contractors do superior work, they were very timely with the build. Now that I have written about the home that Darcy built for us, I miss it even more than ever. It was a once in a time experience, and the 5 years we lived in the home were the happiest years of my life! So, thank you, Darcy for the experience and the happy memories.”

We knew that we needed someone to help with the complicated roofline and the outside of the house and had friend who had John as the architect for their unique home. John helped us to translate my ideas into a picture perfect home. He laid out the complicated roofline, created a design for the outside of the home which captured the "lodge" look, including a signature window design, saved me from over and under estimating the size of rooms, created a unique yet wonderful floor plan. The home is both grand and intimate. He reminded me that there are three elements: size, detail, and cost.....and that I only got to have 2 of them! That helped a lot in the design and choice process. John is a gem...keen eye, sharp mind, both an artist and architect.”
