“After interviewing a number of builders for my custom designed home, I selected Curtis Graff of Graf Custom Construction. My decision to do so was based on extensive research into the type of home I had designed and their familiarity with the newest technology. Throughout the project planning, Curtis Graf invested significant time in helping me evaluate the variety of solutions for HVAC, insulation, windows, foundation and other critical components of the available material and construction techniques. I had consulted with other builders that were not interested or willing to discuss these options with me, and basically told me how they planned to build my home, and didn't seem too concerned in what I wanted to purchase. The Graf crew are remarkable. Many of folks working on my home were direct employees and not subcontractors. Curtis Graf was usually on site and got his hands dirty. I had spoken to some builders who never do any work themselves, and I believe that Graf has the right approach. In conclusion, I am delighted with the quality of the home I received and the consideration and attitude of the entire team. They are very responsive to minor issues, even after being paid! I would do some things differently if I were ever to build another home, but would definitely hire this company.”

“Prime 1 was the contractor for our 800 square foot addition. They worked closely with us and with our architect to design an addition that met our needs and fulfilled the vision we had in mind. One of our concerns was that the addition should match the period detail of the existing house, and they took every measure to ensure that such was the case. Our foreman was great. You would think he was building the project for himself, because he paid so much attention to every detail. He was always willing to work with us to make changes and listen to our concerns at every stage of the process. The crew was very conscientious and made every effort to minimize the disruption to our daily routine. Space was tight for delivery and staging of materials, but they managed to work within those limitations with little problem. Prime 1 was also willing to let us take on as much of the project as we wanted to do, and they worked with us at great length to keep within our budget. They inspired confidence in us, offering sound advice from experience, and making the venture an enjoyable experience. The finished product is beautiful, and it has been a pleasure to use our new space.”

“My wife and I lack the 'vision' needed to see the potential of an open space. A Google search led us to Pittsburgh Design and Remodeling, and we reached out to inquire about their basement design services. The design agreement consisted of an initial phone consultation, several 3D renderings (which were updated based on our feedback), and ultimately a neatly packaged pdf file with all of the information. Jeff (the owner) asked all the right questions to get the conversation started and paid close attention to our responses. He presented some interesting ideas that we otherwise would not have come up with. He is friendly, professional, and did exactly what we contracted him to do. We would highly recommend his design services. I should add that our agreement was for design services only. No actual work was performed on the basement so I cannot comment on that part of the business.”

“We recently completed a vacation home in Grand Lake with RJ Design Homes (Ryan Johnson) as our General Contractor. The home is ~4000 sf and the cost to build was >$1M. The design is what we are calling rustic elegance with exposed timbers, moss rock, rough sawn hardwood floors, etc. but with a balance of upper end travertine, slate, and alder. The quality of construction is exceptional and Ryan's attention to detail is really what sets him apart from other builders we interviewed. Beyond the build quality, Ryan was always doing research on design elements that we wanted to incorporate but were exceptionally expensive and either finding alternative options or building what we needed himself. One of the focal points of the house is a +30 ft moss rock fireplace that Ryan hand picked the stone for and is amazing. Many of the design touches were ones that he came up witwh along the way that really add to the house (live edge counter tops in the kitchen and bar area that tie into the timber beams and granite counters). There are three large timber trusses in the great room that he designed and built that are outstanding and a really a conversation piece and then the lower level has a custom stained/acid washed concrete that is beautiful. There were a number of challenges along the way between the architects design and the engineering that didn't always work correctly but Ryan was able to find a way to resolve the issues without compromising our vision for the house. As you can tell, we are extremely pleased with Ryan and how well our project turned out.”

“Our rental property sustained roof damage during high winds and rain earlier this month exposing the wood roof above an occupied townhome. A call was made to Holmes Build when the damage was discovered the next evening. The owner was at the property within an hour to assess the roof damage and securely tarp the exposed areas as more rain and wind was expected that evening. The repair and replacement of shingles was completed efficiently by 2 professionals with minimal disturbance to residents in the building and all damaged material was bagged and hauled away.
