WINTER DAISY: interiors for children

Melissa was a dream to work with. By touring our home she was quickly able to understand my style. And then capture a vision for my son’s playroom that involves my husband’s dream of having bean bag chairs! We wanted a sophisticated playroom with loads of texture and we’re not afraid of bold statements. We were amazed that a room without windows could be so bright and cozy! And, she used some of my suggestions for lighting and decor to implement them into creating an amazing chill space with multiple zones for different play. We will be engaging Melissa again in our next home.

It was such a pleasure to have Melissa work on our boys’ room! We hired Melissa to help us design a room that would suit a baby and a toddler. Melissa really listened to our needs and came up with an amazing design. Melissa pays attention to all the details, such as, aesthetics, functionality, safety, and usability. She made the small room feel clean, uncluttered, functional and fun! Melissa came up with lots of creative ideas to make sure we had storage space for toys and books, in such a way that made cleaning up the room easy and accessible for the kids. Melissa was very professional and really went beyond our expectations to make this project come to life! And most importantly, my toddler absolutely loves his room! He loves the soft rug, the bookshelves, the star decals, the blackboard wall, and all the little details in the room. We spend a lot of time in the room and now it feels very nice and comfortable to be in there! I would highly recommend Melissa to anyone looking for a children’s interior designer!

Melissa designed an absolutely magical room for our three year old daughter. We had just moved into a new house and it was time to update Ella's nursery into a ‘big girl’ room. I started the process completely overwhelmed, unclear about what I wanted, but also discovered (along the way) I had very strong preferences and opinions! Melissa is an extremely talented designer with excellent consultative skills – she was able to quickly figure out what was in my head and expertly translate this into an inspiring, cohesive vision and lots of gorgeous details. There are so many unique and wonderful items in the room (we especially love the canopy!) but I also appreciate how functional and practical the space is – plenty of storage and everything is at the right height for our daughter to access and enjoy. From beginning to end, Melissa was great to work with – lots of creative ideas but a true professional who understands the importance of good communication, and delivering on time and on budget. I would highly recommend Melissa and look forward to working with her again on a nursery for our next little one!

After a wonderful first experience, I had the pleasure of working with Melissa from Winter*Daisy for a second time to create a beautiful & magical bedroom for my 4-year old daughter. Although my daughter is a lover of pink hues, she surprised me by insisting that her room be lavender with gold hearts throughout. With those two elements in mind, I was adamant that the room be 'mature' enough to grow with my daughter until her tween years. What Melissa created was an eclectic, feminine, fun space for my daughter…with just a touch of whimsy which was absolute perfection! Working with another tight budget, Melissa made thoughtful suggestions when it came to saving versus splurging on various items. For instance, she sourced gold heart decals for the wall which provided a huge 'wow' factor. The linens were a great choice that I know will be loved and used for years to come. I splurged on the poof and the teepee, but when it came to wall art, Melissa got out her scissors and created multiple framed images that were a perfect fit! The squeals of happiness that came from my daughter's mouth when the room was completed were proof that Melissa hit the mark with her design. Most importantly, Melissa understands the importance of a timeline. From the project planning process to the execution, I was thoroughly pleased and impressed with her consideration for 'getting the job done' with the least amount of disruption in the household. As a mother of three, she just gets it! Once again, I highly recommend Winter Daisy for your next interior design project for your loved ones!
