Al Curran and his team absolutely exceeded expectations when remodeling my kitchen. Al was professional, honest, understanding, on time and on budget! I had never done any home renovations prior to my complete kitchen remodel and Al was very patient in explaining timeline, methods, materials and costs. I was very particular (sorry Al) and had many questions - Al answered every one in a timely manner. I am still amazed that my kitchen was completed in the timeframe he said it would be, in the midst of the beginning of the pandemic! Al is detail oriented and really helped me created my dream kitchen. I felt like it was a very collaborative process and he was always open to my thoughts and ideas. We went to Curran with a small project, a set of shallow cabinets for a tight space. They did a beautiful job and came through quicker than expected. It made our too small kitchen much more useable. They weren’t cheap, but it was totally custom and not much volume, so we are well pleased.

We loved working with Al, Mike, and the other professionals Al recommended for a kitchen remodel that also included new flooring, updates to an adjacent powder room, and new paint and chair rail in an adjacent room. The Amish made, natural cherry cabinets are a work of art that we take pleasure in each day, and we have received compliments from everyone who sees them. The cabinets are beautifully crafted from premium cherry, with solid maple pull out drawers in pantry cabinets, sturdy lazy susans in corner lower cabinets, vertical storage over the fridge, and other details, such as an extra side access door on a narrow cabinet. Al worked with us to maximize space in our kitchen, and was both creative and practical. He was honest about colors and ideas, working with us on what we wanted, and reassuring us with his professional opinions when asked, helping to ensure that the counter, back splash, flooring and cabinets all worked together harmoniously. We highly recommend Curran Cabinetry to anyone wanting a quality product at a competitive price, and also recommend the professional contractor (Tim Thiede of Thiede Construction) he recommended as well as the other subcontractors we worked with for flooring, counter, plumbing ad electrical.

Laundry room project was completed in December 2018. Al was fantastic at translating our vision onto paper. We had a couple of unique wants that he had not done before and was able come up with creative ideas to deliver. The cabinet quality was outstanding. The personalized follow up was terrific.

After decades of working with builders, carpenters, and contractors, I consider Curran Cabinetry to be an exemplary professional. Everything was done to the highest standard--design, the inevitable design changes, equipment orders, furniture delivery, and on-site supervision. As the project proceeded and changes became necessary, Curran worked with us to solve problems and keep the project on-track and on-budget. The end result is a wall knocked down, two smallish rooms joined into a beautiful open-plan kitchen, and a much more habitable home.

I highly recommend Al Curran of Curran Cabinetry & Design to anybody in the greater Madison, WI area doing a home design or remodel project. After living in our house for 27+ years, and deciding it was long past time to update the kitchen, my husband and I were introduced to Al by the contractor Bill Butler Builders, whom we ultimately hired to do the renovation. Our house was built in 1929/30, with a small kitchen typical of that era (ca. 11’ x 12’), which was last updated in the 1970s. Due to various constraints, expanding the size of the kitchen was not an option. In addition to the small size, the designer also had to take account of three doorways into and out of the kitchen, an entry-area cabinet, heating and plumbing pipes which ran along the outside wall to the second floor, and a cast iron radiator under the sink, none of which could be moved without great expense. There are two main factors which play into my highly recommending Al: (1) Al is a highly skilled design professional, and (2) the end product he offers is excellent. Al was always very professional yet personable in my interactions with him. He was endlessly patient with my numerous questions and concerns, listening carefully and then answering thoughtfully. He would explain options and recommend choices, especially on how to efficiently use the space available. He answered my emails promptly. Al made several on-site visits to take meticulous measurements, share with me his computer-assisted drawings, and make sure what was ordered is what was delivered. The detailed drawings, with measurements, were continuously revised as discussion continued and changes were made. Al is very knowledgeable about his trade and his products. We love the bright look and functionality of our renovated kitchen. It is beautiful and very efficiently arranged. The cabinets are made of wood with quality Amish craftsmanship. Al showed me several possible designs for the front of the cabinets, the knobs and handles, and the quartz countertops and assisted me in making choices. He made sure that the colors and design coordinated with each other. The price was reasonable. The final design is very appropriate for the small space and the age of the house. In addition, the cabinets and countertop are easy to clean and maintain. It was great to work with a design professional as knowledgeable as Al.

Al was SO helpful when we remodeled our kitchen! He was so easy to work with--helpful, responsive, timely--and I really appreciated his design advice. Our cabinets and the stools we ordered are excellent quality! We truly love them. Our experience was so good that I just got in touch with him again to inquire about making some custom dining room chairs. I would work with him again in a heartbeat and recommend him to anyone I know who is doing any type of remodeling.

Our builder recommended Al Curran when we did an extensive remodel of our home approximately eighteen months ago. Al was not only very professional, but also very personable. He is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful when exploring various options. I would highly recommend Al to anyone who wants a quality job and beautiful outcome for any project guyou want done.

Al provided our cabinets for our kitchen bump out and remodel. Others will talk about the high quality cabinets and workmanship, but I'd like to focus on the sales process. Al does a couple of significant things that are very different than other contractors. First, he actually listens to what you would like and then makes intelligent suggestions of how the cabinets should be laid out based on your kitchen's workflow. This is different than most who simply ask "how many pantry cabinets, what should be in the island" and all that. Yes, they ask, but Al was the only one who suggested placement of the dishwasher and the cabinet holding the trash/recycling based on how we used the kitchen. And if we were both right handed... He also provided a unique area that would hold 60 restaurant-sized spice containers. We also moved our refrigerator in from the window because if we didn't, it wouldn't have opened all the way. A very thoughtful and user-oriented review of how the kitchen would work. Second, he shows a drawing of how it would look after it is finished. Our other quotes, from vendors recommended by the overall contractor, were simply "Cabinets, $28,000" or whatever. To be determined later. No, I want to see how the layout would look in our kitchen. I want to see what the perspective would be from some part of the room. I don't want details to be left to later when one is under the gun. I want to know what we will get before we plunk down that amount of money for something we can't see. With Al, you can see what you are getting before you put down your hard earned cash. And you know what? What was in the picture ended up in our kitchen. The quality of the work was there -- and better than our other quotes. It was a bit more money, but what we saw is what we got. How often can you say that about contractors on your house? Highly recommended.

My wife and I were thrilled with our experience at Curran Cabinetry and Design. From our initial consultation to the final installation, we felt comfortable. Curran Cabinetry helped us with the selection of woods, finishes, counter tops, fixtures and our kitchen design in general. We were provided with detailed drawings as well as detailed price quotes. During the entire process Curran Cabinetry was sensitive to our desire to stay "in budget" and offered suggestions to achieve cabinets that we are proud of without "breaking the bank". Changes to the original plans and quote were done in a timely fashion so we could concentrate on the unending decisions that have to be made when building a house. Allen Curran did a very professional job designing my new kitchen cabinets. He selected Amish cabinetmakers who used stained cherry wood with a beautiful grain. The cabinets are very well-made. Allen also aided me in choosing harmonizing wall tile, tile trim and Corian countertops. The total effect is very cohesive.

Curran Cabinetry Design offered us the kitchen that we wanted and exceeded all our requirements. We had a quartersawn oak Hoosier cabinet that provided inspiration for our kitchen and Allen Curran matched the finished product and maintained the quality and respected our wishes. My husband and I undertook a six-figure home addition and renovation to build a chef's kitchen. We consulted four different cabinetry businesses, and selected Curran for the following reasons: 1. Mr. Curran provided us with design renderings that enabled us to view not only the finished cabinets, but the overall finished appearance of the kitchen. This was something not even our general contractor was able to provide. 2. Mr. Curran worked with us over the course of several sessions to design specific aesthetics into the cabinets; we were not looking for specialized functionality as much as we were a very custom appearance. Mr. Curran tirelessly worked with us to ensure that appearance was achieved. 3. Mr. Curran showed us what the finished product would look like, including highlights of the construction and design. These were not out-of-the-box cabinets, but handcrafted, quality pieces of workmanship, and Mr. Curran was both proud of and excited by the work of his cabinetmakers. The final product is beautiful, functional, easy to maintain, and appropriate to the space. Other subs involved in our project eagerly commented on the beauty, uniqueness, and appeal of the work.
