My new kitchen is so beautiful and it is because of the people at Design 1. Eliza helped me choose wonderful materials and gave me multiple options for the design based on my general concepts. Mark and the contractors did a wonderful job, paying attention to every little detail throughout the rehab. My kitchen is now a happy place. Lots of thanks to the team

Design 1 was a delight to work with from the first visit to our house to the final punch list. Kristen Boncore was enthusiastic and creative in working with our vision. She was always cheerful and helped us make design choices that were beautiful as well as functional. Mike Kirtland, as the project manager, was responsive, attentive and transparent. We could always count on him to make sure the project ran smoothly and with high quality results. There are always glitches in remodeling projects. Design 1 navigated these as painlessly as possible and we truly appreciate that attention to customer service. Loudes and his team were hardworking, respectful and highly skilled. It was a pleasure to have them working in our house. Steve Brady, the plumber, was diligent in solving various plumbing issues. Steve from DeSousa, the electrician and his team, made sure our lighting/electrical work was just what we had imagined. The additional painting was done carefully and beautifully by Marlon Lopez and his team. We used John Nunamaker with Stone Inc for the stone. Though Design 1 does not typically use his shop, they were flexible and able to work together. John’s team did a great job fabricating the center piece of the bathroom: the stone. We love our new bathroom! It is a veritable sanctuary! We unreservedly recommend Design 1 for any project.

The team at Design 1 helped us transform our small kitchen, making it brighter and improving the layout. Kaytlyn walked us through the many decisions a kitchen renovation requires with patience and good humor. She and her team were easy to work with, communicative, and worked well with our contractor. We are so happy with the results!

Design One is named appropriately! This group of people oversaw my project from beginning to end and exceeded my expectations on all levels! (I'm a professional musician and have very high expectations!) My husband and I are all about investing in the property way before we decide to move so that we can enjoy the new kitchen! We choose excellent quality cabinets and counter tops and yes, it was expensive, but you for get what you pay for! The result is for sure worth it. We had a 'vision' for our kitchen to have elements reminding us of a recent trekking trip to Nepal. Our designer, Eliza Bigelow, worked with us on all the details and went out of her way to find specific details which worked with the total picture. The financial picture was clear; amounts and 'due by' dates were explained clearly and well. We also have rescue dogs on our property so I needed to know daily when the gates would be opened so I could have the dogs secure. Again, Design One's team kept in close contact regarding scheduling. This kitchen is literally a once in a life time dream come true. I would highly recommend Design One!

Design 1 Kitchen & Bath recently completed a master bathroom project for us. We worked with Eliza Bigelow on the design concept and she successfully interpreted our tastes and requirements to turn our vision into a stunning reality. The entire project was expertly coordinated from start to finish. We were kept informed with clear communications every step of the way. Information regarding start date, contractor arrival times, material deliveries and payment schedule exceeded our expectations. All contractors were friendly, professional, trustworthy, reliable and punctual. Their quality of work and attention to detail was of a high standard. We had a very good experience working with Design 1 Kitchen & Bath. We used both their design and construction services, and were very happy with both. Our project was to remodel the kitchen and an upstairs bathroom. In both cases, the footprint of the rooms did not change. In the kitchen they took everything down to the studs, and widened a door opening from a single door to a double French door opening, and on another wall they moved a doorway a few feet to the left and made it an archway to match archways we have in other parts of the house. They also put in new recessed lighting, installed all new cabinetry and appliances. The bathroom was a remodel as well and the framework of the room remained the same. They removed an old iron bathtub and replaced it with a walk-in shower, plus all new vanity, toilet, sink, mirror, lighting, etc... Working with the construction coordinator (Mike) was easy, and we found him to be helpful, knowledgeable and responsive via both email and text. Working with the designer (Kristen) was also easy and we found her super helpful as she walked us through the process of making all the necessary decisions. She understood our style very well and made excellent suggestions that matched our vision for these rooms in terms of cabinet style, color and texture of tiles, paint colors, and lighting. We would definitely work with Design 1 Kitchen & Bath again.

From our first consultation meeting, we knew we were working with an outstanding designer! Eliza is so talented with creative problem-solving skills and demonstrates exceptional patience, listening and collaboration abilities. She is a true master of the field of design and helped us make just the right design decisions. Eliza and Design 1 supported us through the project milestones with excellent customer service. I shopped around for kitchen designers before settling on working with Design 1 Kitchen & Bath. Design 1 is expert at what they do. They have a great sense of taste in interior design and aesthetics, and they are almost immediately responsive. My experience working with them was that I could spend almost all of my time deciding among recommended designs beginning with Design 1's recommendations, and then Design 1 would execute almost all of the rest. Their recommendations for suppliers and fabricators are excellent. My biggest job was finding a quality, affordable, and reliable contractor. Lastly, my designer, Kaytlyn, was a real pleasure to work with.

We had a great experience working with Design 1 to remodel our kitchen and would recommend them without reservation. Kaytlyn guided us through the entire process with humor and skill. She is both creative and practical — and vey easy to work with! Design 1 was recommended by two friends who also had very positive experiences.

The team at Design 1 are all very easy to work with and have a varied array of cabinetry to choose from. We had a very unique project and Kaytlyn provided us with a fantastic layout and incorporated our ideas.

We paid Design 1 alot of money to remodel our two upstairs bathrooms, and they were relatively more expensive than other designers. Despite that, we ended up with a long laundry-list of issues during and after they completed their works. First of all, the vanity in one of the bathrooms was a few inches too low and interfered with the sink faucet. They only noticed this after we mentioned it, they eventually fixed it. The painters used cheap primer, and less than a year after they finished, the ceiling paint was pealing (even though we used a good fan whenever we showered). Also, we had existing air conditioning ducts and when the construction workers installed the new ceiling drywall, they put all the duct work on the wrong side of the drywall so, now we have to call the air-conditioning company to fix that. There were also problems with the design company keeping inventory...All the equipment was in our garage bay for months but, only when they were ready to install the new toilets, did they realize one of the two toilets was missing. We had to re-order the toilet, which had a one year lead-time. I also had issues with workers coming into our house without notice, on days and at hours when they agreed not to come, such as on weekends and on Labor Day. The fact that I'm still dealing with their issues more than 1 and 1/2 years after they "completed" work makes my blood boil. I am not satisfied with the work Design 1 performed in my home and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Very organized from initial visit with pricing, design and scheduling. All quality products and quality installation. Worked closely with us on budgeting, timing and coordination of all installs. Very pleased with the final outcome!! Highly recommend them for any kitchen or bath transformation!!

They sold me a faucet on Facebook Marketplace that was faulty. After discovering it was broken, wasted $225 on a plumber while I ran to HomeDepot to buy one at retail price.

From the first day we walked into their showroom we were taken excellent care of. We knew immediately Design 1 was the team we wanted to work with. Both Mike and Kristen guided us through every stage, every choice, every question. The showroom was such that we were always able to see what we were buying. Our project was a total gut and rebuild, and entailed much more than I imagined. They made it smooth and approachable. In a complex project like this so many things could go wrong, and they didn’t. Mike was responsive and on top of the project at all times. Without Kristen I would have been lost in overwhelm. Her keen eye, her attention to detail, and her great taste helped us create the beautiful bathroom we’ve waited so long for. WE LOVE IT!!

This was our 2nd project with Design 1, as we had worked with the designers on our kitchen back in 2019-2020. Our home is over 100 years old, and this bathroom was long overdue for an upgrade. I knew the color scheme and design I wanted, but Eliza and the team were wonderful to work with in helping source all of the items to pull this bathroom together. In addition, the team stays organized and communicates well with the construction team. The plumbing needed updated and that set the project back a bit, but it was all worth it to end up with this calm, clean, and beautiful new space in our home. Thanks again, Design 1!

This was our second experience working with the Design 1 team on a home project. The management and coordination was excellent, and the process felt as streamlined and headache-free as possible given supply chain considerations.

We worked with the Design 1 KB team on a full renovation of our master bathroom. It was great working with the design team in the showroom with access to looks of different physical samples instead of just catalog or online samples. The design team's inputs on style and colors really helped finalize the design choices quickly. We decided to go with a modern, open concept "wet room" design. The build team did a great job ordering and scheduling all the component deliveries, and providing consistent communication throughout the project. The demolition phase went smoothly, including the modification of the floor joists for the sloped shower drain. All of the trades people (plumbing, tiling, electrical) were very professional and timely. The tiling and stonework were superb. We really love the finished project and would definitely work with Design 1 KB again!

The staff and owner at Design 1 are professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly people to the utmost. My new kitchen was very important to me, and Design 1 immediately knew which path (in the wilderness) to follow, offered suggestions, and helped me make decisions that I found difficult—(not that I didn’t have many ideas of my own, all of which were incorporated). The layout was done precisely and each stage of the project went smoothly and quickly. After the work started, I was extra pleased with the hired workers who did an excellent job across the board. Handled every little glitch (and there were only a very few) very professionally and promptly. We were especially impressed with the contractors they used and how all the contractors worked so easily together. The quality of the work is terrific! We're very happy with Design1 and all their people, especially Mike Kirtland who honcho-ed the whole process. We don't plan on ever doing another kitchen but, if we did, we'd certainly choose Design1.

We just completed our second major project with Design 1 Kitchen & Bath. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Kristen Boncore was amazing to work with. We had an idea of what we wanted for our new kitchen but our designer Katlyn helped steer us to exceptional choices that we did not Originally envision. She was patient with us as we took our time bringing home samples She provided to make the right choices for our dream kitchen. We wanted white painted cabinets but were concerned it would be too white and cookie cutter. She worked with us on all aspects from cabinet hardware to lighting fIxtures to paint for total coordination and design complements Giving us a unique design. Even throughout construction she and her team helped us make decisions on things like outlet wall plates and finishes for complementing walls. It was a great experience and we have a beautiful functional forever kitchen.

Kaytlyn and team were wonderful to work with. I had the colors and feel of our spaces in my brain but needed pros to help me figure out the best layout and design for what I was envisioning. They did just that and I couldn't be happier with how our kitchen and bathroom turned out! It is truly my dream space. Kaytlyn really took the time to see my vision and to assist in creating what we wanted for our family. They also make it so helpful for the contractor by keeping everything so organized throughout the construction and installation process. I highly recommend Design 1.

We waited a long time to upgrade our kitchen. And when we saw the right cabinets for us we decided to start the process! The cabinets were a display model from the Design 1 showroom. The mellow look of cherry was a perfect match for our house. Patrick, the store owner, created a design which highlighted our kitchen's size and shape and blended in with the connected family room. We had designed our kitchen with an architect. I went to a couple of kitchen design places for estimates. I loved Design 1’s showroom kitchen and chose the cabinets and countertops they had on display. Kaytlyn helped me select all the materials and colors. She did this while respecting our tastes and preferences, and providing guidance when needed. In addition, Kaytlyn made functional and visual improvement to our kitchen design. Design 1 put together a site book for our contractor to follow. This made the construction work go smoothly. We are very happy with our new kitchen and the work Design 1 has done for us.

Mike and his team did a great job on my partial kitchen remodel. They carefully listened to my needs and came up with a great plan to fit a 48" commercial range and hood into my existing kitchen. His carpenter was excellent and was able to rework a cabinet to accommodate a new wine fridge. While remodels can often look like remodels, my kitchen looks like it has always been this way, only better! After sale service was great as well. One of my newly installed soft close drawers needed a small fix after the project was complete and Mike was quick to come over and make the repair.

Design 1 Kitchen and Bath helped us turn our kitchen wishes into a reality—converting 2 small rooms in a traditional colonial home into one, large functional space that better fit the needs of our family. We also had a small bathroom off the kitchen that got a major update. Pat and designers Kaytlyn and Kristen guided and inspired us though all phases of design, material selection, and construction. They were easy to work with and we relied heavily on their expertise throughout the scope of work. There were a couple times in the planning process where we changed our minds on finishes or configurations and their "no sweat" attitude made it easy to adapt and move forward. The results of our finished space paid off immediately. It's now a beautiful and functional space that has become the focal point of our home. We have hosted and entertained more family and friends in the past 5 months than we've hosted in the past 5 years! Everyone comments on how much they love the result.

We had Design 1 renovate our bedroom and small spare room into a master suite. It was great working with them on the design and layout of the newly built bathroom. They listened to all of our ideas and wish list and able to have them in our master suite. Kaytlyn was great in walking us through the selection of our vanity, tiles etc. Our contractor was great in communicating each step to us and very understanding in our daily lives with kids. We are very happy with out new master suite.

In remodeling our out-of-date kitchen, we had very good guidance from the design consultants, who had to be patient with us and were always both positive and professional. The foreman and his crew were prompt, efficient, and adaptable, given the quirkiness of the house they were working in. The timing of the job was as advertised, and there were no surprises with the cost; we knew that there might need to be some extra charges for upgrades with plumbing and electricity, and these were addressed in a timely, open fashion. Communications with the contractor, consultants, and crew were smooth and easy. I am very happy with the complete bath remodel done for me by Design 1 Kitchen and Bath. Kristen is talented designer and knows the materials and products well. She put in a lot of work finding things I would like to create a harmonious whole. She was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. Mike is a very resourceful and knowledgeable man, prompt to resolve the inevitable little problems that arise with a remodel. He stayed on top of things and responded quickly to my concerns. He seemed to be always calm and positive. The quality of the work overall was very good and the tiling in particular was outstanding.

Best transformation I have ever seen! The entire staff at Design 1 in Bedford, MA was so helpful with the planning and designing of the kitchen. They spent lots of time with me to make sure I was getting everything I wanted in the kitchen. All materials used in the construction are of excellent quality. Everything came from Design 1 . One stop and choose everything for the kitchen! I highly recommend Design 1 to anyone doing a kitchen! You will love it!!!

The team at Design 1 was very professional and helpful. Since I was a complete novice at this scale of renovation, I found Kaytlyn, in particular, to be really supportive as she guided me through each step of the process. She showed me the range of possibilities and had some wonderful ideas, without overwhelming me with choices. Best of all, they helped me stay within my budget and still get design the kitchen of my dreams–something I've waited a long time for.

Design 1 was recommended to us by a local architect. The project included knocking down a wall between the kitchen and dining room thus creating a large open space; transforming an old, narrow pantry into a convenient desk/office area; and raising an unsightly structural beam flush into the ceiling so it is no longer visible. Patrick Small, the owner of Design 1, spent a lot of time with us and oversaw the entire project from initial plans through cabinet selection, kitchen design, and construction. Kristen B. was our designer and expertly guided us every step of the way creating the warm and inviting space we have now. Tony D. was our master carpenter and he was amazing. He custom built wainscoting extending it into the new kitchen from the original dining room area. It is now a seamless transition and looks beautiful. There was no request or challenge too big or too small for Tony! Overall, we are pleased with our kitchen renovation and the entire team did a very nice job.

I had read a few reviews regarding the service that other customer had received from Design 1 and was sure that I needed to at least speak with them. I had an appointment with Mike Kirkland and was pretty certain that I wanted to work with Mike and Design 1 to make my dream kitchen a reality. I had many ideas and was already using Houzz to capture my ideas which made explaining my vision, wish list much easier. Mike developed a few plans to start with and we would review them until my vision was pretty much a reality on the design plan. Mike and the staff at Design 1 had many great ideas, they were always willing to talk with me to offer advice, propose alternate suggestions during each step of the process. They brought up items that I had not even considered in my plan for the kitchen, together we created what I truly consider my dream kitchen. Phil (and his team) was the contractor on the project and provided outstanding work, each area of my kitchen reflect a true master craftsman that showed attention to detail and pride in his work. Phil’s knowledge and suggestion added to a kitchen that I love walking into every day.

Having seen the design and implementation of our neighbors kitchen/eating area, it is no wonder that this designer knows what he is doing! We have had him do our bathroom with absolute perfection!

We just finished our third bathroom redesign project with Design1. Highly recommend them. This project was a complete gut and remodel of a 35-year-old bathroom. The designer listened to our ideas and desires and pulled together an initial design for us. When the cost estimate was too high, they continued to work with us to find more affordable substitutions until the project met our dreams as well as our budget. While they do installations, we chose instead to use our own contractor, which was not a problem for them at all. They provided a well-organized design binder with all the drawings and specs, which our contractor was very impressed with. And they were always responsive to questions that came up. The staff at Design1 kept us informed about material deliveries, and kept up with us during the construction phase. They even handled a few substitutions when we changed our minds. And when we found one delivery included the wrong part, they had the right part delivered to our door the next morning. There isn't a person who walks into the new bathroom and doesn't say, "Wow!"

The team at DesignKB1 was extremely knowledgeable and helped us to design both a kitchen and a bathroom for our old Victorian. The team was very helpful with aesthetics, operational impacts and pricing implications of various decisions. Lastly, they were flexible and worked with us through a range of bumps along the road that come with any project of this magnitude.

Gut and remodel of a small master bathroom. Kaytlyn was essential to the project as we never would have created such a beautiful and simple space nor found the elegant finishes on our own. The whole team has high standards. Phil and his team are meticulous with the installation. Have worked with them on a second project already.

Design 1 designed the kitchen and master bath that I wanted and needed. Their suggestions about cabinetry and tiles were excellent and I am very happy with the results. What I particularly liked about Design 1 is that they had examples of most of the options right on their store floor, which helped enormously in envisioning what was possible in the space I had.

Kitchen remodeling is never easy, but Mike Kirkland of Design One led us through the process with a minimum of disruption! The schedule was accurate; the craftspeople were top-notch, pleasant to work with, on time and they cleaned up and removed all trash. We are delighted with the result.

We decided to renovate the kitchen in our 200+ year old farmhouse in Massachusetts and our favorite building company Coughlin and Shea, recommended working with Mike Kirtland at Design 1. He designed us a beautiful light and bright family kitchen whilst retaining some of the original features, the exposed beams, the mantelpiece and woodstove. He was a delight to work with, always available and patient and totally removed all stress and anxiety we might have had. Clearly with a house as old as ours it was a challenge, no ceiling, floor or wall was straight or level but Mike was calm and comfortable with it all, and so kept us calm and comfortable throughout the entire project. We totally recommend Design 1 and are so happy with our choices of everything we picked out. Timewise everything arrived when it should, there were no holdups and our kitchen is gorgeous! A complete gutting and remodel of master bathroom. The design steps upfront were extremely helpful and necessary as were lost as to how to begin and incorporate our ideas. Few other places we went provide for this PLUS management of all construction. All elements of construction were done well, with good cleanup at end of each day. Communication, which is essential, was always prompt and any elements that needed adjusting quickly resolved. The end product is beautiful and met our desires perfectly! We highly recommend these folks and will likely use them for a kitchen remodel in the near future.

Love this place, and all the employees, especially designer Kaytlyn Constantinou! A year and a half ago I purchased a condo with a tiny outdated kitchen and dining room. Kaytlyn had a vision the minute she saw it. I gave her free reign over the design of the kitchen and renovation which included taking down a wall. I never would have taken this on myself, but I trusted her vision. Now I have a kitchen that opens up to the rest of my downstairs. I absolutely love it every time I walk in the door and see it! Kaytlyn oversaw the whole project with no problems whatsoever. In fact, she also took on additional projects so that I could move into a completed condo within the 2 months I had allotted. I would not think about using another company for any project without consulting with Design 1 and Kaytlyn first!

Design 1 Kitchen & Bath renovated our kitchen and family room, and upgraded our electrical (200 AMP service). The entire process went smoothly, from first design to execution of the finishing touches. Mike took us step-by-step through the design process, showing us many options (with pricing), and providing valuable opinions on what would and would not work. Phil was the foreman and regularly communicated what was to be done and by when. The craftsmanship was outstanding. The entire project was a great success and we could not be happier with our new kitchen and family room. We highly recommend Design 1 Kitchen and Bath.

Very easy to work with. As with any project (Laundry room and master bath) of this scope there were some hiccups along the way (in regards to materials, not design). That said, the important thing is that they were open and honest and ultimately made things right. The renovation came out great and the designs they assisted with were perfect for the space we were working with. Mike Kirtland, our point of contact, was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. We have received many complements on the finished product and would recommend Design 1 Kitchen & Bath to others.

In remodeling our kitchen, we had a great experience working with Design 1 Kitchen & Bath. Mike Kirtland made several trips to our house, making sure his ideas for the layout would work. We left the design up to him and he came up with many different options. He was very patient and made sure all our needs were met. Mike was very honest with us about choosing a beautiful cabinet style in our budget. They give you so many different options with color, edging and overall style, it's like getting them custom made. My kitchen is beautiful and so functional. Everything has a spot and we have so much storage space! We couldn't be happier!

We used Design 1 Kitchen & Bath for our kitchen remodel in the fall of 2011, by a recommedation from our contractor. We worked with Mike and he was amazing. He came out to our house and gave us a few different options that would work well in the space. He met with us several times to figure out options to utilize the space in the best way to provide ample storage and reconfigure specific areas to meet our needs and taste. He showed us multiple options to keep us within our budget and provided us with a beautiful kitchen that we could not be happier with. The entire staff at Design 1 was a pleasure to work with and we highly recommend them!

We used Mike Kirtland at Design 1 for our new construction. Overall, he designed our kitchen and four bathrooms for us which all turned out beautiful. We were also working with a builder so we had to design all of these projects very quickly and thoroughly. Mike was very patient and had a wonderful eye for design details. We were shopping for cabinets and decided to get them from Mike Kirtland at Design 1 because we felt comfortable dealing with him due his level of knowledge and great personality. Working with Mike was a pleasure and he was great at dealing with our contractor and helping resolve any issues. We has some interaction with other members of the Design 1 team and they were very helpful as well. Overall, Design 1 offered great products, nice displays and great customer service. I used Design 1 Kitchen & Bath for my recent kitchen remodel. The company was recommended by my contractor. Our designer, Mike Kirtland was extremely helpful to us. He was knowledgeable about all of their products. He was extremely reliable, always met timelines and also kept us aware of deadlines that allowed us to take advantage of special offers and discounts. He also made suggestions for different configurations of cabinets that allowed us to maximize our small space. When we encountered problems during the project (e.g., one of our cabinets was the wrong size) Mike was swift to step in and take care of it. And of course I changed my mind while the project was in progress! Mike worked with the other subcontractors to make sure the changes were implemented. The company uses computer technology to mock up your kitchen and then you can view it, and changes to the plan, on a television screen. We also were happy to find that we could select everything we needed at D1KB, including hardware and counter tops. The quality of the cabinets is exceptional. Even so there were some tiny flaws in the finish. Mike addressed this immediately with the manufacturers and replaced the defective doors. Mike made a lot of suggestions that helped us to make better decisions so that the final project was exactly what we wanted. I have to say, without his help, the project would have been a lot more effortful for us and we would not have been as pleased with the end result. I would recommend Mike and D1KB without reservation.

We have a fabulous new kitchen and master bath thanks to the wonderful people at Design 1. They completed our wonderful new kitchen in 2011. We were so happy that we went right back to them last year to redo our master bath. It had a shower and a jacuzzi tub. We never used the tub, as we are dedicated shower users. The bathroom also lacked storage for linens. The redesign included a huge shower with custom glass, and a large linen closet. I took in a painting we love and they helped me develop a color scheme from that, which included wall and floor tiles, quartz counters and shower seat, and incredible decorative glass "wave" tiles. I wanted it to be natural looking but also dramatic. They pulled it off with ease! Three cheers for Mike Kirtland and all of the others at Design 1 who weighed in. They were with us every step of the way and we recommend Design 1 to everyone.

Design 1 helped design my kitchen, I couldn’t be happier with the process or the results! Mike was great at integrating some functional features into a limited space and on a limited budget as Kaytlyn helped coordinate finishes and balance select high end touches to get me a kitchen that surpassed my expectations while maintaining my budget.
