Having seen Elizabeth's work on other projects, when it came time to take the step of renovating our dining room, adding a built in hutch and incorporating heirloom pieces, I knew that Elizabeth was the person to consult. From the incredibly wall finishes to determining the correct height of the chandelier, Elizabeth's eye for detail is incredible. This project lead to two more. Our second project of consisted of combining a kitchen, bath, laundry room and small bedroom into a large efficient kitchen and laundry for the multiple cooks in my family. Elizabeth delved into the minutiae of how we really intended to use the space, how we moved about the kitchen area, where we intended to make those thousands of Christmas cookies and where we would store the seasonal items (where do you really keep the lobster pot when not in use?) Ironically the starting point for the kitchen was a piece of unusual variegated marble that we used as a backsplash for a display wall in the kitchen. We are not quite finished with the third project, that of combining a front parlor and family room into one incredibly gorgeous space! With custom designed woodworking and the treat of deciding on furniture, we have a functional space that is welcoming and comfortable for our life style. I am looking forward to finishing the furniture selection!

This is the fourth property I worked on design projects with Elizabeth over 15 years. She has been an exceptional resource with all things large and small. On this latest property in Chatham, MA we finished the lower level, adding a mini kitchen and built in book cases, a gym and bath. We also finished a bed and bath over the garage. Most importantly we reconfigured the central stairway to improve the flow through the space to the lower level. Elizabeth helped review the architectural plans along the way and helped refine the designs and significantly improved the details. We bought this recent property knowing the changes Elizabeth would help us make would transform the house as we had made similar changes with Elizabeth on a lake house in Georgia. We've learned the details are what make us walk in the front door and say "we love this house". Elizabeth was invaluable in finding the fabrics, creating the perfect window treatments as well as wall colors including faux painting choices for our spaces. I had a vision for this weekend and summer seaside retreat as traditional, casual yet elegant. I knew I wanted the colors of the area to move inside mixing calming blues, warm yellows, fresh whites but I have trouble seeing subtle shade differences and find i like very few fabrics when faced with huge showrooms. Having a few bags of fabrics, in my colors to view in the spaces they would be used was perfect. The house is coming to life now that the window treatments are in place. Our home is at the top of a hill with few shade trees water nearby that reflects the light. We added room darkening shades in sleeping areas to allow everyone to rest in the mornings. We had a large bay window in the master bedroom that was to me a design problem, but Elizabeth was nonplussed and we love her solution which gives us room darkening when needed and full view when not as well as allowing my dressing table to sit inside the bay. We plan to sell our large suburban home in a few years and move our favorite things to this Chatham house so Elizabeth focused on pieces we had that we could use and helped us find what we needed to buy now such as a large custom seating area in the family room and a beautiful reproduction of an antique sea captain's tiger maple 4 post bed that I had fallen in love with years ago in a photo. From that photo, her craftsman created what will be a family treasure. We highly value Elizabeth's professionalism in working with our full team of architect, builder, painters, cabinet and furniture makers, etc. but it is her warmth and her expert design ideas that keep us coming back!
