Excellent experience. Andy and Mindy were a joy to work with. They both were able to listen to what my vision for my space was and then offer their opinions about the feasibility, but also what might work better. Workmanship was excellent quality. Mindy was able to understand my taste and offer several suggestions for tile, countertops, paint color etc. I will definitely be using them for other projects in the future.

Dream kitchen! I now have a dream kitchen, and not just any dream kitchen, MY dream kitchen thanks to Andy and Mindy at Foster Custom Kitchens. We own an old farm house built in 1860 and then, in 1900, it was moved from one location on one hill to another location on another hill by a one armed man with a team of horses (true story). Over the years it was renovated from a one-family to two-family and back to one-family home, and with all those changes, never really had a reasonable kitchen. Andy and Mindy embraced the vision we had which involved removing a weight bearing wall (we also had an awesome contractor, but that’s a separate review ), and building a true farm house kitchen befitting our farm house. They spent a lot of time with us in our old kitchen, taking many photos and listening to us and what we were hoping for. They put together 3 unique plans, all which would have worked, but one which was truly in line with our vision. Once we agreed on the plan, Andy and Mindy listened to what we were saying with regards to the details (even between the lines of couple bickering) and always came up with the solutions and suggestions that were perfect. All the choices for everything, cabinets, floor, hardware, etc are overwhelming. What was so amazing to us throughout this process was that, because they really listened to us, and while we had no experience to know what details would make our vision a reality, their experience and knowledge always provided us with suggestions and solutions that would work for us. Our vision, with their incredible insight, expertise and knowledge made our dream come true. Their professionalism, attention to details, availability, and responsiveness helped make this process truly enjoyable and met all of our expectations. If you are looking to design a kitchen, a dream kitchen, I highly recommend working with Foster Custom Kitchens.

A work of art. That's our new kitchen, thanks to Andy and Mindy at Foster Custom Kitchens. Friends and family entering our home now generally stop at the entry to our kitchen and gape. The project took more than year, only because, in Andy's words, that was the natural "gestation period" of the creation. We have a 1860 farm house and wanted our new kitchen to integrate well into the space and finishes in the rest of the house. It does. Andy and Mindy came to visit a number of times, listened very carefully to what we wanted, quickly "got us" and began to envision our new kitchen. Though it took time they convinced us change our traffic flow radically by removing one exterior door. That change made all the difference and opened up the east wall for functional space, new light and a great new view. Andy mocked up several different styles and stains of cabinet doors that we could try out in the kitchen. We eventually chose just the right one. They were incredibly patient with our snail's pace decision-making and amazingly responsive to suggestions, worries, concerns. They both have exquisite taste. I quickly learned to trust Mindy's design recommendations and the few times I didn't listen, I now regret! These are two of the nicest people you will meet. Very responsible and extremely creative. I was very pleased with the help Mindy gave us for the bathroom that we made handicapped accessible. She worked with the contractor we chose to make crucial measurements and design choices in a small space. She was good at intuiting our taste and giving us examples to choose from. All in all a very happy experience.

It was a pleasure to work with Mindy from Foster Kitchens. She has great ideas, was reliable, flexible, attentive, and very skilled in her knowledge. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to design a new bath or kitchen.

We had a concept on how to renovate our master bathroom, but weren’t able to fully flesh out our idea and knew we needed help. We turned to Foster Custom Kitchens because we had seen their signs up everywhere for years, so it seemed like lots of people liked them. The completed projects on their website also looked great. We never worked with a designer before, so everything was new to us. We principally worked with Mindy. She did an amazing job understanding what we wanted to accomplish. She provided a number of options to help us narrow down and finalize tile selection. She had numerous design ideas that we incorporated but would have never thought of on our own. The whole process was very collaborative. Communication was excellent throughout the project and we couldn’t be happier. We look forward to working with Mindy on a future project.

Overall we had a very good experience with Foster Custom Kitchens, resulting in an extremely well designed and attractive kitchen. The team was knowledgeable and very efficient. Mindy in particular was in constant touch with us and the contractors, and unfailingly responsive to all of the inevitable questions and uncertainties. The design fits well with our older home; for example, the cabinets were chosen to blend with the décor of the adjacent room. The appliances were rearranged in a very functional way, providing us considerably more counter space than before. Mindy provided quick access to catalogues and vendors in a way that reflected an intimate knowledge of the resources and a good understanding of our taste. We also thought that the contractor Scott Harrell was superb.

We bought a house in Ithaca and started working with Mindy and Andy on our design for a completely new “dream kitchen” before we even closed. We began with a blank design slate and a list of functional needs and desires, and ended with a beautiful kitchen that we love to cook and bake in every day. The combination of Andy’s skill and experience in overall layout and custom cabinetry design, with Mindy’s Interior Design expertise and recommendations for countertops, backsplash, flooring, lighting, appliances, fixtures, and finishes resulted in a final kitchen design that was everything we had hoped for. The Foster process of brainstorming and refining worked well for us, providing much-needed design guidance while allowing us to interject our ideas. Andy and Mindy recommended a general contractor who did a fantastic job on all the demo, prep, installation, and finishing work. Once all design decisions were made, the job progressed exactly on budget and schedule. It’s now seven months after completion, and there is nothing we would change. We absolutely love our kitchen – both the functionality and the aesthetic design. We absolutely recommend Foster Custom Kitchens.

Andy and Mindy are a delight to work with. They listen well, are very creative, and thoughtful. The end product transformed our home, suits our family lifestyle perfectly and is gorgeous. The project came in on budget and on schedule. Construction projects can be stressful, but with Andy and Mindy, the whole process was fun. We look forward to working with them again!
