Our 8 person law firm had been in Westwood for 15 years.....When we finally made the move to Manhattan Beach, we had total raw space to design and decorate. Jenika was with us every step of the way: Her work and influence is reflected the open, airy design of the offices, conference rooms, kitchen, and copy/computer room layouts to the colors, fabrics, and art selection for the entire suite! Jenika is a pro and pleasure to work with! Great ideas, easy to work with, and very accessible! It was a great experience working with her and have the space be even better than we'd hoped!

When we decided to hire someone to help us with creating our home, we met with several designers. Each of them had a different personality and unique position on what to do with our home. We decided that what we really needed was someone who understood our family dynamic as well as our aesthetic. Enter Jenika Kurtz. She understood that we wanted someone to work with us as a partner in the process, rather than designing without a lot of input. My husband and I have a lot of ideas and opinions on what we want to do with our home, but don't have the time to find items, or research the best options. Jenika was amazing with not only researching the items that we loved, but also coming up with additional ideas that we had not considered and pulling the entire concept together. She has a gift for helping clients visualize her ideas. She is gifted with accessorizing as well! I have the most beautiful bookshelf in my living room thanks to her! Jenika was hired to help us complete our home, each and every room. We are 75% of the way there. Master bedroom is next and we are so excited to start! Working with Jenika has been a fantastic experience. We would recommend her to anyone.

Jenika was my first foray into using an interior designer and she brought me an incredible end product, while debunking all of my negative preconceptions about designers. She listened to exactly what I needed, delivered on it (and my budget!), was super practical, reachable and never ever pushed me to do more / spend more than I was prepared to. My house is absolutely gorgeous thanks to Jenika - her taste is impeccable, and I can't stress enough how lovely it's been to work with her. Would recommend her without hesitation.

I have been working with Jenika for over two years remodeling various rooms in my house. I highly recommend her. She is very talented, has a point of view, great ideas and, most importantly, is a great listener. She will take your ideas and improve on them. She definitely taught me about design and why certain suggestions would improve the overall design. During that process, she will help you transform your space into an amazing home; a home that reflects your tastes, needs and vision. Due to unexpected issues during the remodel, we had to make some changes to her original design. She worked very well with the general contractor to find solutions that made sense and did not have a huge impact on the budget. Both my GC and I were really pleased with her flexibility.

My experience with J. Kurtz Design has been exceptional. Jenika has a natural eye for design, and an amazing ability to seamlessly integrate her design expertise and ideas with her client's taste/budget/existing items. She is also incredibly responsive and communicative, and delightful to work with to boot. I recommend her services without any hesitation. We were impressed with Jenika's work after seeing her designs in place at a friend's house, and decided to hire her for a few key rooms in our new house. After working with her and seeing the results, we expanded the scope to include the rest of the house, and a few months later, we hired her to consult on our front and back yard renovations. I could not be happier with the results. Not only is our house beautifully put together in a functional manner, but she helped us tweak the exterior plans so they fit with our interior aesthetic and all flowed smoothly from front to back, as well as helping with furniture and accessories. Jenika is very talented in finding uses in otherwise unused spaces (we fit a small kids desk and bookshelf into an otherwise useless corner), and mixing textures and colors in a beautiful way that I could have never done on my own. She is mindful of budget (we have a couple things from IKEA), but also knows when it's best to splurge on things like statement light fixtures and accent pillows. I also love that she integrated all our existing art into our current home, with just a couple frame changes, to look very professionally put together. Despite her working on pretty much every room, our house still feels very "us", like a home we created with our art and aesthetic, but elevated and beautiful. Jenika understands and respects her client's time, and always finds time to make herself available for questions that need quick resolution. She works across a variety of communication methods - in person, phone, email, and text - which makes it really convenient when you need a quick answer (which color questions at the store), or lengthier decisions you are trying to make with links via email. Some of her ideas encouraged me to stretch from my comfort zone, with delightful results. For example, she suggested we change our 15 foot tall blue front door to a high gloss black. I was skeptical at first, but trusted the process, and was so pleased with the results. She is confident in her opinions about what would look good, but never pushes you to do anything you are not comfortable with, and offers up alternatives if somehow a piece doesn't feel right, or is over budget. In short, Jenika is easy to work with and produces excellent results in a timely manner. 100% recommended.

I have worked with Jenika on several projects in the past. She is an interior designer that we use on our projects and we are always satisfied with her work. There are a lot of interior designers out there with an artistic talent, but it is rare to find an interior designer that is both artistic and organized. Jenika has the organization and administration skills that help to make her a pleasure to work with. Working with Jenika makes the collaboration between a general contractor and an interior designer an easy and fun process.

I hired J. Kurtz when I purchased my home in 2005. Before I moved in, we changed out carpet, light fixtures, ceiling fans, appliances, tore out a partial wall in a bedroom, and created a custom built-in for my music, stereo and TV. We painted every wall. She also helped me furnish the entire house. I could not have been more thrilled with the results. Ten years later, it still looked great but I had grown tired of the color scheme. I thought I might change out my tile floor as well. Once again, I consulted J. Kurtz. She saved me thousands of dollars by talking me out of replacing the floor. Instead, she suggested staining my cabinets, changing the color of the walls and purchasing a new dining room light fixture. We discussed alternatives; she chose colors that are sensational. She also suggested a console table and two lamps for my living room that are now the highlight of the room. Saving the best for last, we did a large wall in my bedroom in teal grass cloth that is fabulous. It was so comforting to have her guide me toward what I wanted but had no idea how to put together. Her taste is wonderful. Her ability to stick to a budget is impressive. I wholeheartedly recommend this talented designer for jobs both large and small.

Her commitment to every project is fantastic for clients who have a hard time with decision making. Sourcing from both high-end and affordable stores makes her the prefect designer for any budget. When I first brought up the idea of hiring a designer to help with our home, my husband thought it was the biggest waste of money and that we should do it ourselves. Now, after working with Jenika on two projects, he boasts to his friends that it was the best money ever spent. Our first project with Jenika was a year ago to design the main living areas of our 1,400 sq ft home including the living room, dining area, and an odd area with a fireplace that we had no idea what to do with. Our challenge was to make our charming, small home feel bigger while still having enough storage space for the all the toys and extras that collect with a growing toddler. My husband and I are neat freaks and everything needs a place and we don't like to have lots of kids toys on display in the main living area. The results far exceeded our expectations and we still comment to each other most days on how amazing our home looks. Jenika did an incredible job of bringing our personalities into the design to make a functional and stylish home. She delivered three initial design options so we could decide between the low and high end of our budget range. We selected which option we preferred and had a few comments and adjustments. Jenika listened to our feedback and came back with a final plan that we loved. Every piece is something that makes us happy and our home feels like "us". Jenika is amazing at visualizing how a space can be better utilized and understanding her client's style. Jenika's process was so easy, collaborative, and fun that we decided to work with her again this year to redo our master bedroom and transition our daughter into a "big girl" room. Because our home is "cozy", Jenika was again challenged to ensure that there was enough storage in each room while still making the rooms feel stylish, bright, and collected. We also requested a Cal King bed in our small master bedroom. Her design solution included a stylish storage bed in the master and a built-in for our daughter's room. The final accessories are currently being delivered, but both rooms already feel bigger despite having bigger beds, larger dressers, and more storage in both rooms! We recently hosted a baby shower for 50 people at our home to welcome a new member of our family. Everyone had so many great things to say about our home and we owe that all to Jenika. We look forward to working with Jenika again in the future to finish our office, pool house, and design a "big boy" room for our newest arrival.

J. Kurtz transformed our newly purchased house into the home that we always envisioned for our family...only we had no idea what we envisioned until we consulted her! I have a very difficult, if not impossible, time seeing anything that isn't right before my eyes. When we moved in, I knew that I didn't love the paint in the home and I knew that we had outgrown our furniture and general decor we had held onto for too many years and through too many homes. Because I could not see a clear vision for our new home, we consulted J. Kurtz. After looking at photos of our home, she quickly came up with a clear feeling and new look for our house. She picked out paint colors for each and every room of our house and chose a few key decor items for us, such as: a couch, coffee table, new artwork, bedding, shower curtains and pillows (all within the small budget # we had given her!). She also used some items we already had, making suggestions I would have never thought of...it's amazing how proper placement of (even older items) can completely transform an area! When someone with amazing talent looks at your home with a new eye, it opens up an entirely new world! She even purchased Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle wall decals for my 4 year old son who desperately wanted to incorporate his favorite heroes into our new home decor! J. Kurtz is incredibly thoughtful and easy to work with because she is so confident in her choices, that you feel so safe following her lead! Once I saw how completely bright and fresh our home looked with the paint colors she chose, I could not believe we ever considered living with it the way it was before. She transformed our house from old, drab and dark into a cohesive, bright and beautiful space that i am now proud to bring my family and friends into. Jenika is a truly outstanding designer. We moved into a brand new home that had zero furnishings. Jenika ran the job flawlessly. She has great taste; she sees things others don't; she delivers true to her word. What I really like also about Jenika is she makes decisions. She tells you what will work and what won't work. And then she gives you options. When the job was finished, our house was now a home and the interior design was more than I could have ever hoped for. I recommend Jenika without reservation!

My wife and I needed help with a nursery for our new baby. We had ideas, but needed a pro to tap into what we wanted. The moment we spoke on the phone we knew she was the perfect person. With a simple request, modern, inviting, practical, and gender neutral. Jenika delivered! This woman has design running through her veins! From top to bottom, everything was perfect. The light fixture, the bright yellow changing table, the awesome black and white rug. The added storage has helped tremendously. She was able to incorporate some framed art we had collected seamlessly. This is a room our little girl will be able to grow into no problem. Do we plan on using Jenika in the further?
