Jim Walker / Kitchen and Bath Designer

I had an idea of a kitchen and put a drawing on paper, along with sketches and pictures from magazines. Jim Walker took my drawing and made a few suggestions and before long, transformed my drawing into a beautiful kitchen. Jim was amazing to work with and Jim took my little drawing and turned it into a beautiful kitchen that I will enjoy for many years. Thank you to Jim Walker and the entire team at Packard Cabinetry.

We had our kitchen completely remodeled, ripping out the flooring, cabinets, appliances and then replacing everything. We used Packard Cabinetry of Hendersonville with Jim Walker doing the new cabinet design. Jim is their lead designer and did a super job, but more importantly, was especially easy to work with. His main objective was that we got what we wanted and he outlined numerous alternatives as to design and budget to insure the project met our needs. In addition, he followed up on everything to make sure things were completed to our satisfaction. Would recommend him and Packard highly.

Working with Jim was a pleasure! His kitchen design expertise really shows through in his thoughtful placement of cabinet features. Our project was a fairly small kitchen, and he squeezed in a great amount of functional storage space. Jim was thorough in his design layout, and looked at every potential for interference, even paying special attention to the make and model of the appliances to ensure adequate clearances specific to those models. I am a design professional, and I will be calling on Jim's expertise again for future projects.

Jim Walker was very helpful and knowledgeable in working with me to make the necessary selections for a successful kitchen project. I love the undercounted microwave and the beautiful countertops. My wife and I are homeowners with basic carpentry skills and have been remodeling our house for several years - one room at a time. When it came time for the kitchen, my wife realized that we needed help from a professional kitchen designer. Jim Walker came out to our home and almost immediately resolved several issues we had been struggling over. He laid out the kitchen on the floor and ordered the cabinets and gave us pointers on installing them. He contracted with Classic Marble and Granite of Laurel, Maryland who did an excellent job of installing the Cambria countertops. As we made minor changes, he advised us and supplied a wide variety of trim pieces. The end result is a kitchen that looks good and is a pleasure to cook in. I was apprehensive about what knowledge and experience the employee of a "hardware store" instead of a "kitchen store" would have, however, when I met Mr. Walker I found him to have many years of experience as a kitchen and bath designer and knowledgeable about the products. I felt relaxed and not pushed, and while he offered suggestions he took in what I, the customer, wanted. He was able to answer my questions about all the separate line items so that there were no surprise costs as had been in a prior store. He personally came out to measure the counter space before the granite company did so we could have a close idea as to the cost before I made my decision. He handled the coordination between granite company and the plumber, he had worked with both companies before, knew the personnel and how they worked which had been one of my concerns if a company just went for the lower bidder of a project. Since I was still unsure about all of this, Mr. Walker was at my house when the counter was installed. Mr. Walker followed through from beginning to end with my new kitchen counter as if it was his own.

Jim redesigned our 20 year old kitchen. he was extremely open to my input, offered great advice and was very open to changes along the way. The end product was fabulous! I enjoyed his easy going mannerism and personality. I would recommend him without hesitation. Also, the cabinets that we purchased were Schrock, can't tell you how pleased I am with the quality. We engaged Jim Walker to plan the renovation of our 25-year old kitchen: new cabinets, appliances, and countertops. He worked with us efficiently and effectively to produce a plan that met our needs within our budget. He effectively coordinated the completion of the project, introducing us to a talented and experienced installer with whom we worked very successfully, and he was able to expedite the laying out of the countertops, which helped speed up the completion of the job. When an appliance could not be supplied on the original schedule, he was able to get the dealer to move up the delivery of the replacement, which also helped in completing the job more quickly than originally planned. In all, we were completely satisfied with Jim's planning and coordination. He was meticulous, accessible, and patient in answering our questions and addressing our concerns.
