At Kitchen Design Partners (KDP), we specialize in kitchen and bath design, custom and semi-custom cabinetry, countertops and tiles. Through personalized consultations, we collaborate with clients at our boutique showroom in Northbrook to create exquisite designs that balance style and function. Nancy Jacobson, President of KDP, founded the company in 2005on these principles. Nancy is an active member of many organizations such as; NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association), ASID (American Society of Interior Designers, Industry Partner) and SEN Design Group. She has also earned her certification as an “Aging in Place Specialist,” also known as CAPS, to assist you, our clients who would like to remain in their homes for many years to come.

Our renovated kitchen looks fantastic! We are delighted with the way it turned out which we owe to Nancy’s exceptional skill, knowledge and hard work. We particularly appreciate Nancy’s guiding us through countless decisions with an attention to detail, calm patience, and creativity. Thank you Carolyn. Working with you throughout the process, on so many details was our pleasure. We wish you much happiness with your new kitchen.
I had the most unpleasant experience working with Nancy Jacobson on our home. We already provided her with detailed drawings of the exact design and layout we wanted for our kitchen. She provided us with a quoted price, down to the penny, based off the architectural drawings we already provided. Using her quote (which noted would respect the budget that we had already shared with her), we proceeded and parted with a $5k deposit. She had our drawings in her possession for nearly 3 months. She met with my wife on several occasions to fine tune the design, only to make insignificant changes. Because they outsource the CAD renderings to a third party, ANY change would then trigger another 2 week turn around time for a new CAD rendering (including inconsequential changes like altering a paint color). It wasn’t until nearly 3 months of “fine tuning” that she revealed our custom pantry doors would not be warrantied and she would not provide pantry doors at all. She also revealed a glass cabinet with a unique size spec (which again, she’s had for nearly 3 months), would also not be warrantied. She offered for a third party to come in and deliver on our entire design, and then proceeded to charge us $40k more than her original estimate. She blamed her manufacturer for not informing her of their warranty policy on the pantry door instead of taking accountability for failing to stay on top of it. She made erroneous claims about how our plans for our counter tops weren’t congruent with our sink spec. So we resorted to including our contractors into the email thread with Nancy to shore up any discrepancies, only for her to yet again deflect and claim that it was the job of the GC to overlook these details (even though it was her unsolicited erroneous opinions that spurred the collaborative effort to begin with). My wife reached out to her upset about being offloaded to a third party and having to pay $40k more for the same design we brought to her nearly 3 months ago. Nancy has since ignored two of her emails. She did not strike me to be a serious person who was attentive and committed to our project. And from my perspective, her blatantly ignoring my wife’s emails is the straw that broke the camel’s back. I would not recommend this company. Needless to say, we went elsewhere.

James, your facts and the characterization of KDP's activities and service are false. While there are many details I could share here, I’ll reply to the main points.
You did not provide us with “architectural plans”. When we met, you had taken photos on your or your wife’s phone of cabinetry designs that someone had done for you. We provided you with an estimate for semi-custom Inset cabinets. The photos you provided earlier were of frameless cabinets. We explained that we had to re-do your design from scratch and that our timeframe is 2-3 weeks for each update to the plans. When you showed us the photos of the design someone had done for you, you said you decided not to work with them due to their price increasing over $30k. We later learned that the previous designer chose not to work with you by saying you were not a “good fit” for them.
When I learned that your “GC” was your father and when you began demanding that KDP handle details with your trades, such as your countertop fabricator, I became even more concerned. The photo your wife shared with me could not have worked for your faucets and 2-1/2” countertops. Luckily I discussed with your fabricator and he stated that he would not exactly provide what was shown in the photo that your wife had insisted upon.
There were many design changes along the way, some major, some minor. For instance, you added a 60” custom hood to the design that you failed to mention in your review. The details of the hood changed a couple times in discussions with your wife. The hood added $10k to our price that had not been estimated, and it required us to study your motor specification to size the hood properly, since you had previously told us you were ordering the hood on your own.
In fact, the cabinet estimate of $86,189 ended up as $82,574.71 because it didn't include the pantry doors. That’s an incredibly accurate estimate we provided to you. Speaking of the pantry doors, I relied on the independent representative and the technical support person at the manufacturer, both of whom neglected to share that the pantry doors and the extra tall glass doors would not be warranted. Just as in your dental practice, I imagine you rely on your suppliers’ independent representatives to provide you with accurate information. As soon as I learned about the warranty issue, I regrettably shared it with you and your wife. You and your wife chose to keep the extra tall glass doors even though we advised against it. You also chose not to add a second outlet on your island in order to meet building code.
The Design Agreement you signed with KDP states clearly that the designs we provide are KDP’s property and are not to be shared with other contractors until such a time when you approved the order. You also attempted to go behind my back to the supplier and asked if you could buy direct from them. Sharing our plans with another supplier is a breach of the agreement.
Lastly, I responded to your wife’s email of 6/23. Her email from 6/27 was obviously written by a professional or attorney. I did not respond pending discussion with KDP’s attorney.
Misleading reviews are unfair to hardworking professionals, particularly when they do not provide all of the facts. For over 19 years KDP has dealt with thousands of satisfied customers. It’s a shame that things have gone this way with you. We really had hoped to give your wife the kitchen of her dreams.

We worked with KDP on our complete kitchen remodel.
We are first time homeowners and this was our first major renovation to our house.
Nancy and her team were wonderful partners in this process, and were essential in creating the kitchen that we envisioned for our house.
KDP gave us the support, guidance, and feedback we needed every step of the way to feel confident in the decisions that we were making.
There are so many different products, styles, and themes to be considered in every decision and the KDP team gave us the tools and confidence we needed to make the right choices.
The scope of a complete kitchen design can be overwhelming, but the team at KDP worked with us in a way to make the whole process manageable.
Nancy and her team were very attentive, prompt, flexible, and understanding of our needs and the obstacles/changes needed on the road to completion.
The KDP team also provided us with information and insight on all the things that we never thought to think about from workflow details to long term kitchen maintenance and needs.
This really helped us feel safe throughout this process. Kitchen renovations can be a lengthy project where you are without an important part of your house.
Having a designer and team we could trust to lead us safely to completion was invaluable during this time.
Overall, we have been very pleased with our kitchen and to be able to have worked with Nancy and her team in this process.
I recommend them highly and would not hesitate to work with them again.

I am an architect and have known Nancy for close to a decade now. We have worked together on a number of projects. She is a great listener with clients, making sure that she fully understands what they want in their kitchen and how they will interact with the space.
Nancy has wonderful coordination skills when working collaboratively, making our work that much better and easier. And last but certainly not least, she has a great sense of design of not only the physical parts of the kitchen, but making the function and flow of the space work out perfectly!

I worked with KDP on a complete remodel of my kitchen – all new cabinets, countertops and appliances. Nancy, the owner, and her support team did a fantastic job designing a new kitchen with high quality products that are both functional and beautiful.
During the entire process, the KDP team was patient, attentive and very responsive -- I definitely felt like their only goal was to create I kitchen that I would love. They listened carefully to my desires and quickly got a sense of my style. They offered great design ideas and paid attention to every detail. Whenever I emailed or called with a question or concern, I heard back from them quickly. Both the cabinets and countertops were delivered exactly when expected.
When the cabinets were delivered to my home, the KDP team was there to make sure that every piece arrived. Similarly, they met with my contractor shortly before installation to make sure that the contractor fully understood the installation plan. When the contractor discovered that a side panel was slightly damaged in the corner, KDP immediately ordered a replacement, and when I wanted to make some last-minute design changes, KDP was there to help me figure out how to effectuate them. Nancy, the owner, was also personally on site when the countertops were installed to make sure that process went smoothly.
Overall, it was a pleasure to work with the KDP team. They were engaged, present and invested in the outcome the entire way. And the end result is a breathtaking new kitchen!

We had a great experience working with KDP (Nancy and Cecilia). We remodeled our kitchen and family room last summer, and of course were affected by the global supply issues with respect to various parts of our project. Nancy worked with us to understand our needs and how we best wanted to utilize the space. She came out multiple times to walk through our kitchen and help us to best design the space. She was very responsive and clearly communicated the need to order once we had made our decisions, as she worked closely with the cabinet maker to ensure that our delivery came when expected. Despite many of the other items (outside of cabinets) not arriving when expected, or being delayed indefinitely, the cabinets came when expected and everything went smoothly. When a few small issues came up, she was quick to order what we needed and follow up to make sure it was installed correctly. Overall, our experience was great and we would certainly recommend KDP to anyone considering a kitchen remodel.

We have worked with KDP, Nancy and Cecilia for more then six months this year to gut our kitchen and primary bath. The end product is beautiful and we are so happy with the results.
Nancy and Cecilia were very helpful in planning our layouts and to help us determine what would work best for us. They offered so many suggestions of things that we could do. They were both very responsive to our questions and concerns and we really appreciated their work ethic.
If we decide to do another bathroom next year, I will definitely contact them!

I was starting from scratch with a lake house kitchen and bathroom remodel in Delavan Wisconsin. I had worked with KDP, Inc 11 years ago on a Chicago project so decided to go with a trusted company. Remodeling can be a creatively overwhelming process, but Nancy Jacobson and her team helped me narrow down choices and was solution oriented in keeping in alignment with my budget. You say you want a white kitchen? Little did I know how many whites there were! Thank goodness Nancy had an eye for a modern coastal look that I was wanting. She stayed on task with the process, communicated effectively with the contractor and coordinated all the remodel moving parts. Thanks Nancy for removing the overwhelm!

KDP, Nancy and Cecilia, have been completely fantastic. Nancy worked to understand our needs and wants as well as any constraints in our space. She came up with several ideas for our space that we didn’t think of and advised when our ideas would present challenges in the use of the kitchen. In addition, Nancy and Cecilia represented a full service firm but did not require their contractors which we liked. Full service included appliances, tile, lighting, paint, grout, as well as the standard cabinets, counters, etc so we could truly customize the service and help we needed. KDP advocated for us when there were a couple of manufacturing defects to ensure the cabinets were perfect. Lastly, they were truly nice to work with and we enjoyed the design process including home visits during measurements and installation. Great small business with personal feel - highly recommend!

We could not be more delighted with our new kitchen and laundry room...thanks to KDP! After living in our home for 27 years, it was due for a facelift...actually, a complete remodel! Our experience working with Nancy and Cecelia, was beyond exceptional. From the dedicated time and attention that they gave us during the planning and design phase, to the exceptional follow though during the install and after, we could not be more pleased! The kindness and respect that Nancy and Cecelia have toward one another, and how they treated me as a client, made the experience warm and comfortable. Nancy's experience and knowledge all aspects of the project, made working with her extremely helpful. While the scope of the project may have been daunting for some, I LOVED it! Nancy's presence and attitude made me feel like I was her only customer (which was definitely not the case!) Our kitchen and laundry room turned out so beautiful (and functional) and we are now incredibly proud of our home!!! We are looking forward to finalizing the 2nd phase of this project, starting next week, as we are working with KDP on our guest suite and master bath. Nancy and Cecilia were great partners for us throughout the entire process. We had a vision and Nancy was able to execute and coordinate all aspects and fine details of our project. KDP is very responsive to quality issues and getting us the answers for our questions before and after the install. The end result is truly the kitchen of our dreams!

We have been in our house 20 years and had only done cosmetic improvements before we were able to undertake a major remodeling project. This project included the kitchen, laundry/mudroom, two bathrooms, the master bedroom, as well as changing the front elevation of the house. Both our architect and general contractor recommended Nancy and her team. Nancy took the time to educate us every step of the way, which was greatly appreciated. While facing numerous obstacles with this project, Nancy always remained calm, cool and collected. She is very detail oriented and is respectful of time and budgets. Having had to work with many different professionals on this journey, the meetings with Nancy and Cecilia were the ones I always looked forward to attending. She is truly a professional and on top of that, couldn't be a nicer person with whom to work.

Nancy and her team were our designers for our new construction home and were wonderful to work with! Over the course of a year+, we worked together closely from initial design through completion. I was getting quotes from another company as well, and was struck by how rushed they were and wanted to finalize everything so quickly - Nancy was so much more thorough and we took time for every detail. Like how high the oven handles are in our wall of oven, measuring exactly how high my reach was, and doing extra high counters because my husband and I are so tall. I brought in pictures of my mother's baking cabinet and she re-created it perfectly as well. She was exceptionally knowledgeable about all the options, and worked within our budget. Could not be more happy!

For many years we had wanted to remodel our kitchen, but struggled because of the poor design of our existing floor plan and the lack of solutions proposed by other designers and contractors. We had five doors in our small kitchen, and this posed a tremendous challenge to any design.
Enter Nancy Jacobson of Kitchen Design Partners! Nancy came up with a solution that seems almost miraculous. The door problem was resolved by removing the wall between the family room and kitchen, and widening the entrance to the family room, thereby removing all of the pocket doors. She was with us during the entire design and construction, and everything was seamless. Nancy helped us choose cabinets that we love, the colors we love, the quartz countertop that we love, the handles and knobs that we love, the backsplash that we love. Nancy even had recommendations on appliances, and helped us decide where to put our utensils and pots and pans.
Nancy promised that we would have more cabinet space then we had before, which we doubted. Never doubt Nancy. She was right. We have much more cabinet space than before; even more than we need. The soffits were removed. Even though the height of our ceilings have not changed, our kitchen now seems to have high ceilings (but they are still only 8 foot). By opening up the first floor of our house, our kitchen is no longer small. We now have a large kitchen, with very good flow. Importantly, Nancy also worked very well with our contractor, who was excellent.
Cecilia, Nancy's assistant, was also phenomenal. Either Nancy or Cecilia were at our house during every critical phase of our project. Cecilia was present when the cabinets arrived, and it was a truckload of boxed cabinets. She inventoried every single item to make sure that what was ordered was received, and that nothing was damaged. Nancy was present for inspection when the quartz countertops were fabricated and installed.
Our experience with Nancy and Cecilia at Kitchen Design Partners, Inc. is a happy one. We have heard so many stories from our neighbors of challenging times they have had even with big name builders in the Chicagoland area. We are relieved that we have avoided the problems that so many of our neighbors have experienced. Working with Nancy and Cecilia was an absolute delight. The only downside of our project is that its completion means that we don't get to see Nancy and Cecilia as often.
We know that Kitchen Design Partners is in high demand, but if you can sign on with them, our recommendation is that you do it without hesitation.

We worked with Nancy to do work on a second home in another state. We knew Nancy’s knowledge of design and her customer service were excellent but could she help us with a long distance location? She did not disappoint........nothing changed with distance. She listened to what we were looking to do and presented designs to meet our vision. We used blueprints, pictures and video to complete the design and it was perfect! Her detail orientation did not change based on location. She followed up with us on scheduling and spoke to our contractor to be sure all was installed as designed. Happily all went perfectly the first time since no detail was overlooked. Thank you KDP.

Every time we admired another kitchen in town, we kept hearing the name KDP. Working with Nancy and KDP was one of the best decisions we ever made! Her design talent, coupled with the variety and price range of the products offered by KDP (cabinets, counters, hardware, range hood), made our kitchen renovation so much easier to live through. Plus she is always so pleasant to deal with. I loved working with Nancy Jacobson and Kitchen Design Partners, Inc., on the remodel of our master bathroom. Nancy began with our budget in mind. Then, with her knowledge of product features and design trends, she came up with a beautiful cabinetry solution that met our every need (including a fantastic bench seat with invaluable extra storage). Her entire team was involved in making our experience worry-free, even going so far as showing up at our house on delivery day to inspect each item as it came off the truck. When a small glitch occurred, Nancy went out of her way to make it right. A year later, and I'm still tickled every time I open the perfect door at the perfect height to get to my toothbrush! She worked hard to accommodate our availability to be in town and meet with her. Most of our meetings took place on weekends when we were in town and Nancy was there for us. I had the great opportunity to be introduced to and work along with Nancy Jacobson and her team from Kitchen Design Partners on a project in Bucktown, Chicago. Being a GC, we work with many great kitchen designers. What set Nancy and her team apart from the start was their attention to get us all the information we needed to prepare the space for the new kitchen with complete drawings and specifications. The island was a challenge for our guys to plumb with a galley-style sink and Nancy was on site to review the cabinet specifications so that the rough plumbing and blocking was accurate. When the cabinets arrived, Nancy and her team were on site to receive and inspect the cabinets and to inventory that everything was received and in good shape. She then made herself available on site every morning for the next week and then as needed to answer any questions our carpenters/installers may have had. I'm sure she was checking our work too! They had a complete binder ready for us with all the information we needed simply and accurately labeled. Her dedication, attention to detail and availability makes Nancy a true professional that I had great pleasure to work with and will definitely look forward to working with in the future.

It was a pleasure and delightful experience working with Nancy Jacobson (KDP). We found Nancy to, if you will, know her stuff! I felt she is extremely knowledgeable about the products she sells. While designing a total home renovation with two additions, my contractor suggested KDP in Northbrook, Il for the kitchen and bath cabinets. When I arrived the first time, unannounced, I was warmly greeted by the owner, Nancy Jacobson, who showed me around and explained her product lines, colors and finishes, and gave me brochures to familiarize myself with what she offered before our first planned meeting. I spent many hours working with Nancy and her staff who were equally as warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient as she was. The process of designing a kitchen and four baths was seamless from layout, cabinet style selection, coordinating colors and finishes including countertops, ordering, delivery and installation. Nancy was available by phone or email and was oftentimes onsite making sure everything was perfect.
The house looks exactly as I had hoped and I couldn't be happier!

I hired Kitchen Design Partners to create some custom built ins for our family room. Nancy was so easy to work with and took the extra time to ask what our needs were so that the finished cabinets would fit in our space and house our TV, books, artwork, etc... Professionalism, expertise and commitment was demonstrated through out our master bathroom renovation. KDP guided us through the process of selecting semi-custom cabinetry and tile. Nancy Jacobson, owner of KDP, in Northbrook, Illinois was a pleasure to work with during our recent bathroom remodel. I brought Nancy in after I had already begun demolition and had planned out in my head what I wanted in this new space, but lacked actual plans for my builder to work from and assistance in making some design decisions. Nancy assisted me with tile selection, design and helped me make final choices. We used several different sizes of tiles and some decorative pieces as well so Nancy's great "eye" helped to put it all together. She also assisted me in choosing a great cabinet and counter top from her well appointed showroom. She was readily available to meet with me whenever I needed her opinion and I really appreciated her great sense of style. I would highly recommend Kitchen Design Partners!

I have nothing but fabulous things to say about KDP and Nancy Jacobson. First, she knows her stuff, I mean really knows her stuff. Second, Nancy is very professional and very patient. Third, she will do everything she can to get you the fairest price possible. She has some of the best relationships in the marketplace so she is able to leverage that for her clients. And Nancy has excellent taste so her showroom is stocked with very nice samples from the start. Samples from different price points so you will definitely get with you need and want. We really enjoyed our experience working with Nancy and we LOVE our kitchen. Oh and we had fun all along the way...very rare in today's competitive society.

Kitchen Design Partners (KDP) did a fantastic job on our project. We used them to design our kitchen and butler's pantry, 5 bathrooms and our laundry room. In addition, we used KDP to get cabinet fronts for several built-in cabinets in the house, including the one in our family room and our mudroom. KDP has a great selection of cabinets to choose from and are very knowledgeable about cabinet design. They were able to work within our budget and deliver an outstanding product. KDP has a great attention to detail. They really thought through the function of all our spaces and how we intended to use them. They looked at the big picture, taking into account color schemes and tile and fabric choices for each space to get a truly custom look. In the end, I feel like we got unique, magazine quality spaces and ones that function well for our family. I would highly recommend them.

We have worked with KDP for over 60 houses. Nancy is a very creative designer, the lines of cabinets she uses fit all budgets and designs that we have. If a problem would arise they are there standing behind their work. We are presently working with them on 4 new houses and will continue to work with them on future houses. Thanks KDP for your great work.
