About Us

Lindsey Markel has been on the design path since she was a child. She grew up in a family of carpenters, engineers and Auto CAD techs. The building industry intrigued her at a very young age. Lindsey says she vividly remembers driving with her parents and studying every house they passed, wondering how they were laid out inside. She decided she wanted more to do with the design of homes after pursuing studies in art and drafting. Lindsey attended Baker College where she obtained a Bachelor Degree of Interior Design. She also received a NKBA accredited Kitchen & Bath Certificate. Space planning really peaked her interest which brought her to loving kitchen and bath design particularly. Lindsey is a carpenter’s daughter and has hands on experience of remodels as well as new home constructions. She has been working in the residential kitchen and bath industry for over 20 years. Lindsey has been published in two Signature Kitchens & Baths magazine issues. One of which her design was featured on the cover. She has also been interviewed and had her work included in Detroit’s Home Styles newspaper and Atlas Homewares Designer Spotlight. Her own experiences along with her education are essential to understanding her client’s wants and needs during any home project. Lindsey believes form follows function when working on most projects. “Everyone is looking for an updated look but most are needing a space that better suits their individual lifestyles.” I'm on Instagram @kandbdesignerlindseymarkel

When you see a kitchen you love, note the designers name, that is exactly what we did. Having Lindsey as a designer who knows first hand construction and design was a total home run. Lindsey guided us through the kitchen design process and paid attention to every detail and every request. Lindsey customized our kitchen around our cooking needs, style, and color palette. Calls and emails were answered promptly and during the whole process the entire team accommodated our expectations. We now have a clean modern dream kitchen that fits within our orginal space! Without question, I highly reccommend Lindsey for your next project.

Your kitchen is absolutely beautiful from the outside and fully functional on the inside. So much thought and planning went into your project, not one inch is unused! Great teamwork indeed!

Lindsey was such a pleasure to work with during the design and renovation of my kitchen and bathroom. She helped me stay within my budget and really listened to what my needs were. When there was an issue with the renovation, she was right on it for me. I highly recommend the expertise and knowledge that Lindsey brings to the table.

I had the pleasure of working with Lindsey on our new construction home. She helped design multiple bathrooms, laundry and our kitchen. She did an excellent job of understanding my taste in decor and expanded my knowledge of functional kitchen design, with the location of appliances, our island orientation and placement of our kitchen sink. I am delighted with the final product which came together seamlessly!

Lindsey Markel was easy to talk to and extremely helpful with organizing our bathroom project and narrowing our choices. At first glance the choices for tile, flooring, sinks, cabinets, counter tops, light fixtures, tubs and shower heads seemed overwhelming. She asked me about my interests in color and style for the bathroom, then presented me with possible suggestions. I felt she listened well, and never pushed her ideas or style. I am very pleased with the results.

Lindsey Markel and her team at Dillman and Upton are Amazing. My husband and I interviewed 3 other very Reputable home improvement companies and they didn’t compare to the tailored needs of our vision. This is something my husband and I truly value. Lindsey made sure to drop in often during the renovation to make sure things were done according to her design. At one point during the renovation my husband and I had to leave town for a quite a while, Lindsay was sure to keep us updated which eased any worry we had. There is no doubt that Lindsey Markel is an exceptional designer and we will use her again for any future projects . Al & Rochelle H.

I was introduced to Lindsey Newmann of Dillman and Upton through my interior designer, S.L. Smith Design, who has done many projects with her. Lindsey was fantastic. She designed my library, kitchen, powder room, and two full baths in my home. Perfection does not begin to describe what I received. Her work was creative, fresh and the quality of the cabinets she offered was unsurpassed in our area. She truly delivered my dream home and I will be using her for future projects.

Lindsey has great respect for budget. In our particular kitchen remolding project, she was able to fashion for us precisely our vision and did it within the agreed budget. Her decorating skills are pliable and she can satisfy various design styles. We are pleased and recommend her work.
