We have worked with Marin Kitchen Company on two major home remodels (in Mill Valley and San Rafael, pre- and post-pandemic). As repeat customers, we obviously could not be happier with the quality of their work and their wonderful customer service. A family-owned company run by husband-and-wife team Scott and Janet Masolo, MKC is a gem of a business that not only delivers on its promises but also exceeds expectations. We’ve been so impressed with their top-notch work and the professionalism of their team. MKC is a distributor for several quality cabinet and countertop lines as well as hardware, and their showroom offers a nicely curated selection (worth visiting even if you’re just starting out and want some ideas). Scott is a general contractor and designer, which gives him a unique ability to see both the design possibilities of a space and tell you the construction requirements and cost to make it happen (a combination of skills that is rarer than you might think). He provides detailed estimates, which we’ve found to be accurate, transparent, and fair. Scott has literally transformed our kitchens, baths, and other living spaces to not just look beautiful, but to flow and live better according to the specific needs of our family. With both our projects, we got estimates from several other contractors, and MKC provided, by far, the best value for our money (by “value,” we don’t mean the cheapest but rather the best work for the best price). Scott is well versed in all aspects of design-build and will give you his honest opinion. He also worked within our agreed-upon budgets, stuck to the promised timelines, and communicated clearly when things came up (as they do with any remodel). Bottom line: we haven’t found a contractor with more integrity, knowledge of his trade, and better sense of aesthetics and design than Scott and would trust him with any renovation project. Janet is also lovely to work with. She is great with countertop and hardware selection, and with her pleasant, down-to-earth demeanor and thoughtfulness, she always makes you feel welcome in the showroom (our son and dog love visiting her!). She is an excellent communicator and coordinator and will go the extra mile to help things run smoothly. We should also give a shout out to the other talented members of the MKC Team. Not only are Roger, Gene, and Jaime skilled and meticulous in their trades, but they are also wonderful and considerate people you enjoy having in your home. TLDR; Marin Kitchen Company is a top-notch local business that delivers beyond expectations. This company takes pride in its work, is a joy to work with, and provides excellent value to its customers. They’ve helped us transform our house into our dream home, and we highly recommend them as the first stop for anyone considering a kitchen remodel.

Our recent experience with Marin Kitchen Company was terrific! Both Scott and Janet had wonderful ideas during the planning stages of kitchen design. For the implementation phase we found all members of the crew to be professional and courteous. Importantly all members of the team (electrician, plumber, painter and carpenter) were high skilled. The project was completed in about 6-7 weeks as promised and within estimated budget. Most importantly, we love our kitchen.

We really enjoyed working with Janet and Scott on our bathroom remodel. We have an Eichler home in San Rafael, and Scott was very familiar working with this type of construction. He gave us some great ideas on the type of wood to use that would match our natural paneling, as well as a countertop material that would match the wood. Janet did a great job with the countertops and making sure they were installed and delivered on time. The installers were very professional. I would definitely work with them again.

Scott is pretty much a genius, he has a great breadth of experience with kitchens, but also 'sees' things that a lot of other contractors don't. He was our GC on a much broader (and bumpier) project than a kitchen remodel, and I would recommend highly to others looking at either kitchen work or more extensive help. Great spacial understanding, big picture knowledge, but also very very focused on detail. He looks at the project from the persecutive of the people using the space in 5, 10, 15 years, even when it would be easier to just splash stuff together. We hired Marin Kitchen Co to perform a complete kitchen remodel on a fairly tight time frame without much room for delays (our new baby was due in December) and they delivered. Scott and Janet are both very knowledgeable and helped us make informed decisions quickly. Any unforeseen challenges we encountered were promptly addressed and conquered. Their crew was courteous and hard working. We will be using them again on future projects.

Scott and Janet were a piece of cake. They had good ideas, they made lots of suggestions, they helped me figure out what I wanted when I had no idea. They always did what they said they would do and the one time there was a teensy problem, Janet had it ironed out pronto. Without a doubt I would use Marin Kitchen again.

I initially came across Marin Kitchen Co via another website which also had many positive reviews for the company. I visited their showroom and met Janet who was professional, friendly as well as a wealth of information about quartz countertops. Her partner Scott was also a huge help in providing me with a lot of technical knowledge, as I was designing the new kitchen myself along with custom island that would have an incorporated bar. Janet was great about presenting me many options and solutions for my needs. She allowed me to borrow large quartz samples which were instrumental in making a final decision. I was also able to present my own design ideas and both Janet and Scott were able to confirm that my preparations were on track to get the final result I desired. Their installer, Kevin and his crew, were equally impressive. I was surprised as to how fast the quartz pieces were fabricated and installed. The work is top notch. In fact, I was so impressed with the entire process that I ultimately increased the scope of my work to have more quartz countertops installed in place of my original intent of stainless steel. On this second job, the entire crew at Marin Kitchen Co were equally impressive in price, installation, speed and quality. While my project is not 100% complete at the time of this writing, I'm very pleased with the work from Marin Kitchen Co,

Janet and her team are very good...I walked in to Marin Kitchen Co for the first time, had the easiest conversation with her and she knew exactly what I was looking for in just a few minutes. They replaced our countertops/sink and did a beautiful install. I would recommend MKC for your project - we will certainly use them again.
