I'm so glad we chose Melina to help us with our remodel. She listened carefully to what we wanted, gave us multiple options and then promptly created the plans and successfully got them approved by our (picky) town planning board. She then helped us select a contractor and manage that process. During the remodeling process, she was on top of things, dealing with the inevitable issues that came up (we have a very, very old house, and some things were not as expected when the walls were opened up). She helped me manage some issues that came up with the contractor and overall kept a level head. She is very knowledgeable about the various issues and patiently answered our questions. Melina is easy to work with and be around - it was a pleasure working together on material and product selections. She maintained a nice balance of being open to my preferences but expressing her opinions and being patient with a couple of times I changed my mind creating extra work. Most importantly, our kitchen and family room look beautiful and the new flow works better than even I expected - I am thrilled with the results!

She is not only a designer and has architectural talents as well. She understands construction and can interface with the contractors and cabinets makers on details that are so important in completing a project. She designed my kitchen and living room space and turned it into a piece of heaven. She always answered my emails and if we were unable to meet, zoom worked very well in moving the project forward. She has fabulous taste and the pictures attest to her talents! Look no further! Melina is simply the best.

As other reviewers have noted, she brings a wonderfully creative intelligence to her work, along with a cheerful and can-do attitude. She listens deeply and then draws on her deep knowledge of design and materials to create a proposal that honors the spirit (and the budget!) of the home owner. She's responds promptly and is fluent in any comms approach (phone, email, texting, google docs etc). Equally important: She produces absolutely detailed drawings that ensured that everyone -- from, to the contractor, to the suppliers (cabinets etc) -- knew exactly what they needed to do. Melina is WONDERFUL! She helped us with our kitchen remodel from beginning to end and no doubt made the process 100 times less stressful than it would have been. She listened to what we wanted but also had great suggestions for us to consider (which were usually on point)! Melina guided us through an entire house remodel from start to finish - from architectural design, through the town review and approval process, obtaining contractor bids, construction project management, to interior design. We hired Melina to remodel the front of our house, which included the kitchen, family room, dining room living room and foyer. She did both architectural and interior design, along with design the kitchen cabinets, family room built-ins, foyer tile entry and hardwood floor layout. She also helped select flooring, paint colors, cabinet hardware and finishes. She basically did everything! Melina is very knowledgable and professional. She has great communications skills and responds very quickly to questions. She is always very detailed in her responses, which I appreciated greatly as it was my first remodel. Melina did an extraordinary job on our full-house remodel. She served as both architectural and interior designer which streamlined the project enormously saving us both time and money. I observed Melina working collaboratively with the general contractor and many of the subcontractors which enabled the project to move forward very smoothly. Her in-depth knowledge of architecture, design, and construction enabled us to find cost-effective solutions as the inevitable surprises were uncovered once demo was complete. Without Melina our home renovation would not have been possible. I recommend her for any and all residential or commercial projects. We remodeled our entire 1st floor, put in an outdoor deck, replaced all the windows, replaced the exterior siding, and updated an upstairs deck. She is both an architect and interior designer! She drew up multiple plans for us to choose from and after we decided on the plan she meticulously detailed it so the contractor only had to look on the plan to know exactly how to proceed. She was highly professional and a joy to work with, and was our liaison with our contractor in all aspects of the renovation. Melina Copass is a fantastic designer. I originally hired Melina to design the kitchen and ended up consulting with her on every aspect of our house remodel. Melina brought great experience, ideas and a sense of style that made a meaningful impact on our home. As we are getting close to completion, I am really enjoying the results of her work, and I love knowing that I can trust her guidance. Melina is responsive, creative and truly a joy to work with.

My husband and I hired Melina to design custom cabinetry, select appliances and choose the finishes (tile, lighting and cabinet pulls) for our new kitchen. We added 275 square feet to our existing kitchen (in a small 1950s bungalow) to create a “great room” comprised of a kitchen and TV room. Once we met Melina and learned of her level of expertise (she is all knowing about appliances, tile layout and design and finishes) we quickly asked her to also help us with the bathroom we were refreshing during our remodel. While we had high hopes that someone would hold our hand throughout the process and guide us in the right direction, Melina exceeded every expectation. She arrived at our second meeting with two storyboards that reflected precisely what we had asked for and added designer finishes that made our dream vision come true. Every question--no matter what-- was answered with a warm professionalism that is rare with someone as esteemed in this field. Melina worked seemlessly with our contractor--always prompt with her replies. She even created detailed plans that were color coded for our electricians and carpenters to make installation as efficient as possible. Our very well established design build company asked me repeatedly how I had found Melina because she was AMAZING! If there were issues, Melina always stepped up to represent us and support us--she was like having a gracious, but firm advocate in our corner whether it was hashing out exactly how a custom appliance should be designed or returning a cabinet pull that arrived defective. We have been back home for two months and LOVE our new space!!Our home feels like it is finally the house it always wanted to be--we attribute this to Melina’s keen eye and 20+years of experience in the business. Since completing our project we have asked Melina to return and help us with the overall vision of other rooms in our house. She is a superstar!

Soon after that initial discussion, we knew that Melinamade was more than entirely capable to take on many other aspects of our project including everything from paint, hardware, floor, shutter, and fabric selection to assisting us with vendor selection. We set out to bring mid-century modern into our 1938 Spanish home in the Silicon Valley, and we found the perfect person to bring that vision to life with us. Our first discussion with Melina was wonderful - she listened incredibly well to what we said and didn't say, she captured the spirit of what we really wanted, and she saw features in our home that we had long forgotten. She quickly put together story-boards and then presented choices that we could easily say 'yes, no' to and off we went. During the project we made adjustments and saw our vision come to life room by room. What I really like about Melina is that she's very tech savvy (we used Google docs, text messaging and email to manage the entire project), she delivers on-time as committed with an unforgiving eye to quality regarding her vendors, and she says 'no' in a kind yet firm way (when opinions and preferences differ amongst the clients :) We told Melina in the beginning, when people enter our home, we want them to feel comfortable, surrounded by warmth, and in a few places to say out loud 'wow'...and that's exactly the home we have now.

I found Melina through her work on Houzz. I was impressed with her use of materials and her aesthetic. After an interview we hired her to design out a new kitchen and family room space, which included a wall and a fireplace removal. Her plans were detailed, including each material specified, which kept the contractor on task and minimized the change orders. We had a general idea of what we wanted, but we knew that we would need help choosing materials and making suggestions that we hadn't thought of for the space. She did a great job of listening to what we wanted, she was there for any questions/consultations that we had during the whole remodel process, and our space is perfect! We plan to hire her again to redesign our outdoor space next year.

I am a detailed oriented person that requires functionality of every component within a room. I learned very quickly that Ms. Copass is a great listener because at our second meeting her professional drawings had each requirement designed into it. She personalized our space, so it is unique to our lifestyle. Ms. Copass is very professional, prompt, well connected and respected in the industry.

Have you redone your master bathroom lately? The choices in tile can be overwhelming. Where to start? There are lots of tile options you love. Enter Melina. After just a brief interview and inspection of my bathroom, she came back with three options - all were great but one was a homerun. She pays attention to details and thinks of the small nuances that you may forget in a large project. I will definitely use her again on my next project!

After having an unscrupulous contractor half complete our kitchen 10+ years before, we were traumatized. Then it came time to sell our house. What a quandary... Who to trust? After interviewing several contractors, the one we hired brought Melina on the job. We could not have been happier. She was able to take us through the choices to be made, and did an excellent job helping us with decisions when my husband's and my tastes went in opposite directions. She made the process easy and enjoyable, and for two gun shy people, that was a feat. In the end, the kitchen became the showplace of the house, and in a down market, our house sold in less than a month with more traffic than any five other homes our realtor had up around that time. Melina has excellent taste, is able to work with difficult and diverse personalities (yes, ours...), and has a most pleasant demeanor that puts you at ease. I would work with her again, but, sadly, she has no plans to move 3000 miles away to be near us. If you have an opportunity to work with her, take my advise and jump at it!

Melina helped me with a kitchen remodel, and then with a much more extensive house remodel. She is a great collaborator -- she knew when I was feeling overwhelmed and needed clear guidance and narrowed-down options, but she was also incredibly receptive to suggestions and intuitive about what I was trying to achieve. In my kitchen, for example, I wanted something that felt Tuscan and modern at the same time -- we mixed stone tile with glass, terra cotta flooring, stainless steel appliances, and countertops with clean, chunky edges. In the end, my kitchen feels both old and new, and both expansive and cozy -- which is just what I was trying to accomplish. Melina has both extensive design and architectural experience, so she really understands how a space will work, and she works really well with contractors to achieve design goals that are also practical. Plus, she is a lovely person with whom it is a pleasure to spend time. I wouldn't use another decorator on one of my own projects, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to others.
