Like most people embarking on a home improvement or remodel project, I had done extensive research online about what I wanted from our new kitchen; looks, function, and an enduring design. There are so many talented people out there that do design and kitchen work, choosing one person to turn your dream into reality can be overwhelming. After researching what it means to obtain a National Kitchen & Bath Association Certification (NKBA) I knew I could narrow the field considerably. Having been a Realtor and sold luxury real estate in Seattle, Palm Springs and San Diego, I knew the value in hiring a talented designer before making a single purchase. I have seen too many horrible remodels, or ones that came close but missed the mark. I have also experienced enough stellar designs, ones that make you fall in love with the home, and kitchens and baths that stand out, but still speak to and respect the character and design of the house they “live” in. All of these homes have one thing in common, a great and talented designer. Rosemary Merrill is just such a designer. Our decision to hire Rosemary to design our new kitchen put us on the right path for a successful project. Rosemary was great and a pleasure to work with. I gave Rosemary a budget and aggressive completion date for my kitchen remodel. She met both. Rosemary asked questions and listened carefully about my goals and how I used my home. She showed me great design and utility options. I now have a much brighter, more efficient kitchen with terrific lighting, tile, countertops, sink and range. Friends immediately notice and compliment me on the renewed kitchen. Rosemary is a unique designer, especially in two areas: her talent as well as her ability to work with clients. We started out with a new kitchen and, well, as often happens with remodels, ended up not only with our lovely kitchen, but a fabulous master bath and lower level family room. That's how pleased we were with her taste, extensive knowledge of product, respect for budgets, and ability to help us identify our own style. Our small outdated bathroom used to be an example of the futile attempts by my husband and I to give it a "new" look. It always amounted to a fresh coat of paint and new towels. What we really needed was someone with vision and creativity and selected Rosemary Merrill Design. She worked with us to create a new design, helped select all the components, and followed through with every detail from start to finish. The final result was a modern, clean look with the feel of a spa. The small space was transformed into a bathroom that felt more spacious by utilizing color, light, and texture in a very creative design. Bonus! We were so happy when it won a bathroom design award and was featured in a magazine. Since creating our new bathroom, we've watched Rosemary Merrill go on to win numerous awards in her industry.

Our master bathroom presented us with several confounding problems and conflicting goals involving space, function, and style. Rosemary solved all three with cleverness, expertise, and terrific fashion sense. She enlarged the space by removing a closet in the neighboring bedroom and crafted a uniquely shaped walk-in shower next to a beautiful vanity. Best of all, and this is Rosemary’s strength, she created a classic, timeless but current look that makes our guests envious. Rosemary is such a consummate professional and we so much enjoyed working with her—friendly, explaining every detail of the design, and extending full acceptance of our choices for colors and tile—that we were a bit sad to have the project finished. We are heralding Rosemary to our friends with much bigger projects because we know they can rely on Rosemary and are unlikely to be in better hands.

If you want a phenomenal designer who can do it all, Rosemary is it. She has great style and insights; knows about the latest, tasteful trends; and manages to be sophisticated and confident with everything she does and recommends. She designs spaces, homes and furniture. I hired her to design a kitchen in my north woods retreat. It's a show-stopper in every way. Hands down she will surpass all expectations.
