The Red Lobby transformed our kitchen, which was sorely in need of updating. Plans were a perfect blending of my ideas with their vision. From cabinets and appliances to tiles and hardware, they walked us through every detail. Even tricky additions like a curved, built-in banquette and a hidden microwave were designed and created to fit. It was a pleasure working with The Red Lobby and I would again, happily, in my next house.

Karyn Hoeksema and Doug Burgess created a stunning design for our kitchen which transformed and became the center piece of our home. They were patient with us, explaining ideas such as how the space would be changed if we took down a specific wall or why our 1942 architectural style called for one kind of design and not another. Karyn and Doug discussed the importance of lighting ambiance and helped choose fixtures. They showed us best options for countertops and backslashes. Karyn and Doug, with their wealth of knowledge, helped select the crown molding, the appliances, and considered everything down to the last detail. We felt from the beginning that they had our best interest at heart. They also created and sustained a great working relationship with our builder, guiding him with their precise drawings, and were fully involved from start to finish. They then remained available after the kitchen renovation was complete. They had a clear vision of the best use of the space and were respectful and knowledgeable of our ideas and budget. Karyn and Doug are truly gifted with both design and decorating detail. Since the kitchen renovation, Karyn has been working with me to redecorate my house. She has helped with colors, rugs, paint, reupholstery, draperies, and placement of furniture. Because we were thrilled with our kitchen and house we hired Karyn and Doug, in 2014, to design an addition to our house in the Upper Peninsular, which included three new bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living space, and decks. This project was completed in September 0r 2014. They did a masterful job working with our builder from a distance, sharing their vision and showing great flexibility in making adjustments to the design as our builder made some changes along the way. Then, once again, Karyn helped me with sinks, toilets, faucets, light fixtures, new kitchen appliances, furniture, rugs, and even bedding and towels. Revealing their range of talent, the cottage is completely different, but just as sleek and elegant, as our home. Karyn and Doug combine the qualities of being extremely professional as well as accessible. They are a pleasure to work with and are honest and fair with their quotes and pricing. They have helped us since 2012 to create spaces in both of our homes that are warm and inviting!

Doug & Karyn of The Red Lobby exceeded our expectations. They are very creative, yet have an eye for functionality and use of kitchen space. The whole process was a breath of fresh air! (I had been to other studios, but was getting very typical canned designs.) They also did a super job on anticipating any glitches. I love my kitchen!
