Tobias Design existed as a dream long before it became a reality. To be fair, others have acted on the same dream. But what makes the origination of Tobias Design such a remarkably good story is the dreamer herself. Lisa Tobias loved design so much that she gave up a career as an actuarial consultant in New York for it - a huge risk for someone who made a living minimizing risk. And if that wasn't remarkable enough, she brought with her a specialized skill set that is a welcome rarity in this business. An analytical whiz, a creative dynamo, and a natural people-person, Lisa makes the design process not only manageable, but dare we say, a joy. Clients come to Tobias Design because they want their kitchens or bathrooms to be a unique reflection of who they are. Let’s be clear, there are a finite number of styles. But the number of ways they can be applied to improve form and function is limited only by the imagination. And therein lies the opportunity to do something fresh, unexpected, unpredictable, and truly unlike anything else. So back to your dream. I chose to Tobias design because of their stellar reputation and they did not disappoint. Lisa and Lauren were a breeze to work with and they guided us through every tiny detail. We had a very challenging space to work with and try to make a very small kitchen more usable. We went through many different designs and came up with one we were all happy with. I know it was a challenging space in the cabinetry Lisa guided us to is not only beautiful but super functional with lots of little hidden drawers. I would say it would’ve been impossible to come up with a better design.We couldn’t be happier with the result of our kitchen. Not only were they professional, they were easy to work with and I loved our rapport with them. We would definitely use them again. We absolutely love our kitchen and are looking forward to hosting lots of parties. I couldn’t say enough positive things about them. Thank you Tobias design for giving me such a beautiful space!

I loved working with Tobias Design. Lisa was wonderful when I told her about my dream of having a lime green lavastone countertop (on the center island). She not only DIDN’T raised an eyebrow, she worked with me to choose other materials that would showcase this countertop beautifully. She gave me many great ideas throughout the kitchen and they were executed by her team flawlessly. I had a lot of ideas for my kitchen, but I would also be totally comfortable using Tobias Design to come up with something from scratch. The 3D renderings of various layouts were tremendously helpful in making design decisions. Lauren is the fantastic second in command and follows up/researches/measures and coordinates everything expertly. The other stars of the show are contractor, Chris Masterson, and his guys, Alec and Carl, who are superb. The actual renovation took place during the pandemic, and that was handled beautifully by Chris and his team and Lisa and hers. Chris was everything you would want in a contractor – he and his guys did great work, listened to any concerns, took care of any problems AND cleaned up at the end of the day.

What a wonderful experience working with Tobias design! Lisa and Nancy and the entire Tobias Design team are truly consummate professionals. Lisa has a stunning eye for design and she and Nancy are on top of every last detail. They are incredibly knowledgeable as to what items will work within a space and make comforting recommendations to improve upon initial design concepts. We contacted Lisa and her team on the recommendation of a friend after several design build firms had offered costly build out solutions to our irregular 33 x 11 foot space. Lisa took meticulous stock of the space and interviewed us extensively about our personal taste, lifestyle and vision. She and her team then produced several potential solutions and worked with us tirelessly to deliver a beautiful design that incorporated our requirements within our existing footprint. We moved on to finishes, working with Lisa and Nancy Chamberlain to execute a working version of our inspiration. Because of Lisa and Nancy's careful planning, all of our materials were ordered well in advance and delivered by our demolition date. With the pandemic declared 2 weeks into our project, we were able to finish our kitchen ON TIME; Lisa and Nancy were with us every step of the way and we can't wait to work with them again! We selected Tobias Design for our kitchen remodeling project based upon a very positive recommendation from a former client. Lisa and her assistant, Nancy, approached the job with a structured yet creative approach. They studied our existing kitchen, determined what worked and what didn't and solicited our requirements. We had the opportunity to review the remodeling plans as they were developed and many of our comments and suggestions were incorporated into the final design. The Tobias team helped us select well constructed, attractive, affordable cabinets. They accompanied us on buying trips to select tile, cabinet hardware and countertops and helped us make final selections. Lisa and Nancy visited several times during the construction process and provided some valuable on-site input. They had an excellent working relationship with our very capable contractor which facilitated progress. Overall, the Team's approach made a potentially stressful process into an enjoyable experience.

When we were just starting to think about our bathroom remodel, I went into the showroom and Lisa spent about 20 minutes talking to me about the project without even knowing if we would become clients. I remembered this and when we were ready to move ahead, we came back to her. The whole process went really smoothly thanks to Lisa and Nancy's professionalism and organization of all the details. This was our first big project at home so we had a lot of concerns and questions. We picked Tobias Design because the team answered all our questions (especially with the components of the budget and what were the underlying assumptions so we knew where we could spend/save) and worked to understand our needs, all in a timely manner. This resulted in a kitchen in the same footprint we had but with more efficient flow and lots of storage. We had an extn pantry in an another adjacent place that has been repurposed to a coat closet as a result of this project. The team was very professional and efficient too. They understood we had limited time so we worked on ways to speed up the process and managed our contractor for us too. Overall we are very happy with both the process and the result. Commented: Can you tell me the tile brand for the backsplash & bud accent tileThe backsplash is a 3x6 cararra marble tile and the mosaic was custom made provided by A Step in Stone in Hopewell, NJ.

Commented: what cabinets and cabinet color are these?The perimeter cabinets are paint grade maple with a white paint. The peninsula is and alder wood with a gray stain the manufacturer (Greenfield) calls Breakwater.
