Wendy Wilson was a pleasure to work with in the design and re-model of our 30 year old kitchen. Wendy Wilson is a gifted designer and project manager. Our current project, the second time we have worked with Wendy, involves changing the layout of our older home in South Pasadena. Wendy listens to our ideas and concerns (even as these have changed during design) and provides valuable counsel based on her deep experience, insight, and the goals we have discussed together. In December of 2020 my neighbor referred me to Wendy Wilson after my first kitchen designer abandoned our project leaving us with nothing more than useless plans that the City of Pasadena had denied. Wendy met with us, re-did the plans and got us thru the permitting process and construction. We are now 90% complete on the kitchen remodel for our 1922 Spanish Revival home in Bungalow Heaven, Pasadena. Wendy's direction and foresight are priceless! Wendy has been helping us with a 500 sqft addition. We haven't begun construction yet, but she has made the process so smooth and painless so far. We had several rounds of back and forth with her on the specifics of the design. She was very efficient and responsive - and her input and suggestions were meaningful and helped us push forward in a productive fashion. Plans were approved by the city and we didn't have to do anything but sit and wait - she took care of it all. She has also worked with us to select finishes and fixtures (she has a great eye and so much wonderful experience to draw on). Also, she's just a lovely person. We have a number of other projects we wish to complete in the next few years and Wendy will be our first stop for each of these.

We had a wonderful, positive experience working with Wendy on our master bathroom makeover. First of all, she is meticulous, organized, and reliable. She helped us choose all the fixtures, lighting and tile work, all keeping with the flow of our 1908 house. Wendy designed the remodel of three bathrooms and the laundry-storage room in our South Pasadena Craftsman. We wanted a contemporary look, but one that was sensitive to the original style of the house and we are so very happy with the results. Every time we use the updated spaces, we appreciate how beautifully they turned out and are thankful for Wendy's work to make that happen. We were a little unsure about how our remodel would work during COVID, but Wendy made that aspect astonishingly easy. From scheduling outdoor or zoom meetings, to ensuring we were in the loop on safety protocols at showrooms, and checking in about timelines - Wendy made completing a remodel during an uncertain time both doable and comfortable. We moved into our 100 year old Craftsman a few years ago and loved the bathrooms that were renovated by the previous owner so when we decided to do a more extensive renovation and were looking for the right designer, we found Wendy's name in the permit. We went from a one-story 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath to a two-story 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath and wanted to make sure that the Craftsman elements were honored with a modern twist. By the time we found Wendy, we already had our house designed by another architect so engaged Wendy for the interior design. She was an excellent collaborator who understood our needs, was very hands on in helping us choose materials and came on site to work with our tradesmen and to check on progress. While the initial scope included the kitchen, family room entertainment center and bathrooms, we engaged her to help design our in-law kitchenette and stair rails that lead from our French doors of the family room and in-law suite to the outside. Her experience and sound advice was invaluable throughout the renovation that took well over a year. Outside of her expertise, Wendy is just a lovely person to work with -- patient, calm, respectful and fun. We are finally in our new home and enjoying all the great design that went into it.

We purchased a vintage 1950s era ranch in Pasadena with a vague vision of what we wanted it to look like after renovating it. Living in Pennsylvania, we needed to find someone to take our ideas, transform them into a concrete plan and help us manage the construction work from afar. After a detailed search of designers and architects in the Pasadena area, we chose Wendy based on her experience with mid century homes, her outstanding reviews and her general portfolio. We absolutely made the right choice. She helped us transform a completely outdated house into our dream home that has all of the up-to-date amenities we need with the mid century modern vibe we were hoping to achieve. From designing a floor plan, to obtaining the necessary permits, to helping us choose a contractor, to selecting details such cabinets, tile, and even the front door bell, Wendy was with us every step of the way. Managing an extensive project like this from 3000 miles away seemed like a daunting task, but Wendy helped make it a fairly smooth and easy process. She's made us fans for life. My husband I wanted to do an addition to our craftsman, and needed a realistic estimate of how much it would cost from someone who had experience with historic homes. My husband and I are lucky to have found Wendy to help us with our bathroom remodel. We wanted a design in keeping with the architecture of our Craftsman home but incorporating some personal and perhaps offbeat touches. Wendy has been great to work with! The design she created for my kitchen/bathrooms and living room remodel have been great, designed to work for me. We had Wendy over to discuss plans for a home remodel. Although we ultimately decided to delay remodeling for financial reasons, Wendy was very thorough and thoughtful in her house visit. I have known Wendy Wilson for several years and finally had an opportunity to hire her two years ago for several renovation projects on my 1947 mid-century-modern home. Simply put, I have truly been delighted with every single thing she has designed for me. As soon as escrow closed, Wendy was working on the selection of new bamboo flooring throughout, creating a new hearth for the fireplace, re-configuring the kitchen as well as opening access to create a better flow between the living spaces. Once those major projects were completed she then moved on to creating a coordinated color scheme for both the interior and exterior painting. (I have to admit that watching her at work selecting colors is a little like watching a master painter.) Her coordination of colors, shades and hues is impressive; with the end result being a house that beautifully reflects its heritage and location within an oak woodland landscape. I'm also a do-it-yourself-er and Wendy designed the perfect workshop for all my home improvement projects, including a beautiful wood fence for the adjacent carport. I continue to call on Wendy for my ongoing renovations and she has developed plans for a future studio space and additional bathroom. I highly recommend Wendy for her personal attention to all the details, her creative talents and her professionalism.

Thrilled is the only way to describe my remodeling experience with Wendy Wilson. My new kitchen/TV Room has every modern amenity and at the same time fits beautifully into my 1927 house. Wendy Wilson created the plans for our art studio, a freestanding building in the back of our property. It had special requirements as it will be used by a glass artist whose work requires torches, kilns, and large tanks of oxygen and propane. Her design placed the oxygen and propane tanks outside the building, as we requested, with tubes from the tanks going to the inside of the studio via ports through the walls. It includes a bathroom with a utility sink. The building is about the size of a two-car garage. Besides the built-in utility features for the artist, it is also beautiful. Exposed beams run across an open ceiling and a line of high windows let in ambient light and provides a beautiful of the San Gabriel Mountains. It is everything we had hoped for and more. She took our ideas and created the plans to make them happen. She was also an excellent liaison with local planning officials and our progress through city requirements went off without a hitch. I highly recommend this architect. She has the knowledge, competence and vision to make your building dreams come true!

We hired Wendy to do drawings for a proposed workshop that would meld with the existing home. The project was particularly challenging for many reasons. Firstly, it was a hillside build on a considerable slope and would be visible from the street. Wendy in her many trips to the city in trying to secure permits for the build needed to juggle the technical demands of the structure while making sure aesthetically it was in keeping with the architectural lines of the main house. The resulting design accomplished all the functional and style attributes we had hoped for. Wendy is very knowledgable about period details, an excellent listener and easy to work with.

Wendy drew plans for our house's total remodel/rebuild. Her plans made our 1800 square foot, 5 bedroom, 3 bath home, into a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house with a large great room. The plans included raising the ceiling in the great room and master bedroom from 8 to 9 feet. She also drew plans for a patio cover and a "yoga shack." It took a year to get the design worked out, the engineering completed, the conditional use permit, and the plans submitted and approved by the city. Wendy checked with the city every time we came up with a new idea to see if it was doable. She was with us the whole way. We put a bid out to 4 contractors. Each one was impressed with her plans. Our project is ongoing. We liked Wendy so much we are utilizing her services to coordinate the rebuild with our contractor. We meet with Wendy and our contractor. Every week to go over the specifics of the project. We will use her as a designer on decorating the house. If we ever do another project (God forbid) we will call Wendy.

Wendy designed our master suite, kitchen and poolhouse as part of a total remodel/renovation. She was a pleasure to work with - attentive to our needs, highly knowledgeable, detail-oriented and with a great eye. She helped us tackle issues that as remodel novices we wouldn't have necessarily given any thought to and designed rooms that work very well for our lifestyle and most importantly, look great!

In 2014, Wendy designed renovations to our garage, a small hobby room, patio with trellis, a new driveway, and walkways for both the back and front yards. The design was excellent and completely reflected our needs. We also hired Wendy to help monitor the construction project which was of enormous benefit due to issues with the contractor and a couple of his subs. She caught things we would have missed and helped us successfully navigate the most difficult and uncomfortable issues. Wendy really knows her "stuff": she is entirely up-to-date on building codes and materials and consistently suggested green friendly approaches. Since we live in a Pasadena Landmark District, her knowledge and prior experience with City of Pasadena regulations and processes was essential to our project's success. She is straightforward and completely approachable. We highly recommend her and would hire her again. PS: We did hire her again in 2017 for a remodel and make more accessible our original 1926 bathroom! Wendy came up with an excellent way to use the limited space, including a clever cubby in which to store the shower chair. Her eye for color is excellent - she helped us choose a great palette for interior paint. She helped us chose bathroom tile, designed a great arrangement for office furniture using stock IKEA pieces and helped us chose a great stain for our new oak floors.

Wendy is fantastic, and well worth the cost of hiring her (and I'm on the frugal side). She has an eye for detail and avoids problems through meticulous preparation. She listened to our ideas and asked the right questions to elicit information that allowed her to create plans that we loved. We discovered Wendy Wilson through Angie's List and hired her to remodel and update several outdoor areas of our 40+ year old home, including front atrium, rear patio and spa area. She listened to our ideas, provided us with information to make informed decisions, and designed detailed plans. She is gifted with excellent interpersonal skills, a trait not always possessed by people in her field. Wendy was professional, punctual, thorough, and courteous. Her assistance through permit (HOA and city) and planning stages was invaluable. Our house is a 1911 Bungalow in the craftsman style, built by a member of one of California's oldest families with direct ties to the Verdugo's. Unfortunately most of the original features of the house were removed/ destroyed in the course of a remodel approx. 50 years ago. We acquired the house about 7 years ago and have been in a process of restoring and recreating features likely to have been original to a house of this style and vintage. The house is roughly 2000sf with an "unfinished" but enormous 800 sf basement. We initially engaged Wendy Wilson to design a plan to convert the basement to livable, permitted space. We were (and are) so pleased with the design work and our great working relationship with Ms. Wilson that we again engaged her services for the design of a bathroom remodel. Starting with the basement project, Ms. Wilson visited our house, took detailed measurements of the lot, house, and space to be remodeled. We discussed our ideas for the space, how we wished to use the basement for various activities, ie, laundry area, home office space, storage, craft and play areas, and the possible addition of a half bathroom. We met several times, to refine the design, as well as to address structural and code issues regarding the remodel. Ms. Wilson delivered an extremely practical plan for the remodel that satisfies all building code requirements and incorporating all the features we desired, remaining extremely sensitive to the period/look/style of the house. She contracted all the necessary engineering reports, Title 24 issues, and relevant Building and Safety departments in course of the development of the plan. She delivered to us approved building plans that we now have out to Contractors for bids. I should add here that Ms. Wilson very creatively solved some major issues from a technical perspective that could have otherwise made the project un-permitable. Additionally, she designed a great looking, updated (existing) bathroom remodel that once again, is sensitive to the vintage period of the house, contemporary in its function, and beautiful in its design. This project is also out to contractors for bids at this time. Wendy Wilson and Associates have our highest recommendation.

We had WWA review/modify architectural drawings we had done for a new Master Suite including a bedroom, bathroom, and closet. We worked directly with Wendy Wilson on this project. In addition, WWA helped us with the layout of the bathroom and closet and led the charge on helping us select all materials for the interior work. Materials included all tile and slab selection, bath fixture selection, carpeting, cabinetry, lighting, fans etc. We have absolutely nothing but great things to say about Wendy and the way the project turned out. She was super patient as we went through many iterations of tile and slab selection -- she listened well to what we liked and sensed when we didn't like something and adjusted. We love the end product. She did a fabulous job of laying out the bathroom just the way we wanted, came up with some very creative design elements in the closet, helped us redesign the ceilings of the bedroom/bathroom, and created some really special tile designs for the bathroom. Wendy was a superb bridge between us and our contractor. The project cost below was just the WWA fees -- the overall project on the contractor side was much larger in scope. WE WOULD HIRE WWA AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT!!

After interviewing architects, it was clear Wendy was the one for us. Her presentation was focused on us, not her portfolio of projects. We hired Wendy for two tasks. the first was on overall design theme for our house and property with an eye to expansion and the second was complete design of construction docs for a pool house conversion. The first task started with an assessment of the existing structures, code review for set-backs, max allowable space, etc. It included several design layouts for a kitchen expansion & remodel. It also included a full master bath remodel layout and main bath refresh. She created drawings we used to get preliminary estimates from contractors. The second, greater task was to design the conversion of workshop on our garage into a pool house, which included a full bath. She create plans for permit approval, demo, construction and site layouts. Included pool deck and retaining wall designs. She brought on a structural engineer and coordinated the design. After being assured by the city plan checker that we should plan for 2-3 revisions, we were very pleased when the drawings were accepted on the first submission! We supervised the construction ourselves (which in hindsight I advise against!!) but Wendy was always available to clarify the drawings or codes. She eagerly helped us pick out floor and shower tile and finish colors. When we hired an architect, we expected the service described above. What pleased us is she actually delivered to our expectations. More importantly, she listened to our goals and turned our random and often conflicting thoughts into concepts. (I often thought she would make a great marriage counselor!) She delivered on all promises, on time. We highly recommend her.

Wendy Wilson did the design of my major home remodel that included the removal of a load-bearing wall, a room addition, and extensive remodeling of existing spaces. She listened to my ideas, added her design expertise, and developed the plans. She was a pleasure to work with, always focusing on what was important to me and what was consistent with the quality I was looking for. Her design ideas were fantastic for my project. She helped me interview contractors, and each one we talked to praised the completeness and quality of her drawings. She ushered the project through the design approval process with the city, so all I had to do was go pay for the building permits. She assisted me in the oversight of all phases of the construction. I'd hire her again in a minute, and highly recommend her services. I now truly love my home for the first time since we bought it in 1974.
