Peter is the best designer and builder of wood construction I have ever worked with. I had originally hired him for 1 wall unit in my home and ended up working with him on my entire house. His craftsmanship and design eye is top notch. We worked together in designing wall units, built-in closets, interior and exterior doors, and he even mastered an incredible wall unit that converts into a queen size murphy bed...not an easy mechanism to install. Peter has a solution for any obstacle. We worked with many types of wood and there is no limit to what Peter can achieve with the final look of any wood. My goal was to achieve a natural and Zen environment and Peter made that happen for me. He is meticulous and works responsibly. He was a pleasure to work with, and I would highly recommend him for any wood work, cabinetry, design work in your home.

We hired Peter and Liz for ideas and excellence and they achieved both, and more. Enthusiasm, questioning, listening, challenging and always respecting our inputs; what could be better? And did I mention the excellent team who came with them and worked in such a friendly manner and ensured that the job came in on time and on budget, even as we made changes to the project on the fly - and the need to hit the time line was especially critical as we had a wedding in our house, that needed a fully functional kitchen, just one week after the target, and actually achieved completion, date. But enough praise for the people, what did they actually do? With Peter's ingenuity and his ability to quickly produce recognizable plans, plus Liz's backup to capture agreements and convert them to timelines we converted our 1980's kitchen to a still country style but fully modernized center. Peter found spaces and volumes within the same basic footprint that added substantially to our shelf and drawer capacity, expanded our counter space and replaced and even added to the feeling of space in which to work. Within-drawer compartments, special knife drawer, bread bin and ingenious large plate/ bread board/tray compartments were "obvious" additions that we don't know how we ever did without previously. Peter and Liz were was also excellent in pointing us to specific appliances and vendors and arranging their delivery. The result is family working space with excellent flow through, seemingly more open space and a joy to both work and live in. One other point. Peter does his carpentry and fitment work at his home shop. He then brings the beautifully finished sections directly to the kitchen and, with his excellent workmen, installs them with minimum disruption to the homeowner. And they worked magnificently to meet the looming wedding deadline. If your kitchen is where you and your family spend a major portion of your home life and where you want things to be easily accessible, beautifully finished and even an entertainment center before you can move your guests to other parts of your house, then we cannot encourage you enough to get in touch with Peter and Liz Appelson.

We had our kitchen designed and built by Peter Appelson. We have a small kitchen so our main issue was storage space and counter space. Peter came to us with an incredible design utilizing every square foot giving us so much storage space that we can hardly fill it, yet keeping an open flowing integrated feel. His cabinets are very well built as well as being beautiful. We had told him we wanted a light cherry and the color is perfect. Peter designed a multi level counter/work space for us with a two sided glass cabinet above the counter with interior and below cabinet lighting. This is what you see when you walk into our house and it is beautiful. His open design makes our house feel so much larger. Peter's knowledge, experience and incredible design sense leaves you in trustworthy hands. He implicitly understands how to exploit the space that you have. Because our kitchen is now flowing into our dining room and livingroom, Peter also discussed with us how to more fully integrate all the spaces and helped us to choose the right crown molding and color for our hardwood floors. Peter also understands what is needed when it comes to electrical and plumbing and worked very well with our trades and GC. You can trust him to understand what is needed and he is very flexible and can work with and around any issues that may come up. Peter has a phenomenal work ethic - one thing I want to point out is that he is also very clean. He leaves the work space vacuumed and organized for the next days work. He was also on time with design and installation. Peter wants the design to work for the client. He listens and cares about what the client wants and because of his experience, he understands how to bridge what you want with the space he is designing for. Peter cares about his designs and cabinetry - they are truly a reflection of him. He is truly an artist. We can't recommend him highly enough.
