Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry

The paint is chipping and doors are not square. I have never seen paint chip off cabinets. Very disappointed with the quality after being sold on the quality of the cabinetry! If I was able to do it all over again I would not purchase this kitchen. So sad I’m stuck with it now. Their answer to the paint chipping issues. Touch ups! Such a joke!

We installed new Plain & Fancy kitchen cabinets and center island this past year. We also put in a new Plain & Fancy cabinet in powder room. The end product turned out well but the production of the items was a major problem. The center island came in 12 inches too wide with 12 inches of dead space in the middle. Plain & Fancy offered to replace it but that would mean weeks delay in finishing the kitchen so our contractor cut and reassembled the island. The powder room cabinet was even worse. The sink could not be installed because there were boards in the middle of the sink hole. In addition the drawers and doors were not aligned. Plain and Fancy did replace the cabinet but did not cover the extra cost of having contractor, electricians, tilers, and painters come back again. Months later I still cannot see how they could have made such a mistake in manufacturing these items. Again the finished product was great but Plain & Fancy offered nothing to offset our troubles or expenses. .

What a privilege to sell these fine products... it's easy to see why the family-run business continues to thrive; now nearly 50 years. We love using Plain & Fancy cabinets for our projects. They are built very well and finished beautifully. We are able to design our own pieces, use unique woods that you can’t get with other lines, and the door styles and finishes are endless since they can also be customized. Recently, we renovated a cottage and there was such limited space that we were able to use their frameless cabinets for maximizing storage. Since we could do custom sizes, we used every inch and there were no unnecessary fillers. You can’t beat Plain & Fancy if you are doing a large custom kitchen. I am a kitchen designer in the Dayton, Ohio area. We have been in business since 1983...now in our 30th year! In 2001, we added the Plain & Fancy line of cabinets to our showroom dealership to fill the void of a high end custom line. We are very picky about the lines we add and research them extensively before signing on. They must have several criteria: good customer service department, use their own trucks for delivery and quality finish /construction. Having been in the business for 30 years, we have used many different cabinet lines. Plain & Fancy is by far, my favorite. In the thirteen years that I've sold this cabinet, I have not had one issue with the cabinets....not even a damaged door or box....not a factory flaw or mistake. They are close to perfection. This is highly impressive as most cabinet manufacturers tend to have SOME damage every now and then. I think where P&F shines the brightest, is their painted finishes. Their enamels in a LOW SHEEN are stunning. Their ultra-matte CLEARTONE finishes feel buttery soft to the touch! P&F has invested in top of the line finishing equipment...and it shows! P&F offers two types of cabinet construction: (Vinyl vs Wood) Vinyl has has a vinyl clad interior that looks like a natural maple. Or you can get an all wood cabinet with veneered interiors. Both have ply sides. I personally feel that the vinyl interiors is smart choice. Save your money (All wood adds $1800-$2500 on an average sized kitchen) and put towards nicer appliances, nicer countertops or some nice accessories. I do have some clients that insist on all-wood and I don't argue with them. The vinyl vs all wood debate has been going on for years in this industry. Both are fine. They both have their pros and cons. Over the years, I have probably designed and installed up to 40 P&F kitchens. All of my customers were 100% satisfied (actually more in love) with their cabinets. Plain & Fancy makes my business look good and I will continue to buy from them for YEARS TO COME!!!

We looked high and low for quality cabinets when doing a kitchen makeover. The Plain and Fancy cabinetry we now have in our kitchen is amazing! We feel blessed to have such quality cabinets. Our intention was to redo our kitchen so we could put our house on the market for sale. We love our new kitchen so much that may not happen for a while now!
