Alanis Development Corporation I contracted Alanis Development Corporation during the month of October to make a repair of an interior wall in my home which is 100 years old. Over time, rainwater had damaged the drywall. We believed the water was coming from a broken exterior drainpipe that was installed during a rehabilitation project completed several years ago. When the wall was opened, we learned that the damage was much greater than expected. The original rehabilitation used timbers that were well over 80 years old and most pieces were rotten. In addition, the original framing work was poorly done. The required work was extensive covering an area nearly 20 feet by 36 feet. The job required a complete reframing of the damaged section of the interior wall, installation of external paneling, installation of insulation, installation of drywalling, and painting. The company was professional, courteous, and thorough during the entire project. They met the proposed time frame and budget. The work performed was excellent, and I would gladly refer them to others for the quality of their work.

We hired Ulises and Alanis Development to redo some of our bathroom. Ulises was extremely helpful for us (especially being first-time homeowners) in deciding how to go about replacing much of the flooring. He offered helpful suggestions and was always quick to respond when contacted. Ronaldo and the rest of the crew were also considerate, punctual, and completed the job with expert craftsmanship. We are looking forward to working with Ulises and Alanis Development for our next project in the future!

My clients wanted to overhaul the front entrance of their condo. It was a big task especially in the midst of a pandemic when supply chains caused delay across many industries. Ulises and his team were very professional and replaced the sliding doors with more traditional French doors and it made a world of difference. Would recommend time and time again.

Second time working with Ulises and his work was just as good. Bigger project than before (which was tile, a third floor outside vent for the oven, and painting.) New huge condo bought as is, that needed significant work - carpeting replaced by a wood floor, wall paper removed and painted multiple colors, changing bathroom and kitchen faucets, removing linoleum and replacing it with tile in two rooms and much more.. Ulises would give advice when asked and find the best sites to buy things like door knobs.Very kind and patient with me ( haven't moved in 21 years.). And worked with significant restraints on times because of HOA rules. Between that and the Tile and Flooring store (Halsted by New City) making several errors in the order, the job took an extra week, but there was plenty to do. HIs workers show up and are conscientious, pleasant, and do their best to stay out of the way, and are meticulous in their work, Ulises even had them repaint a few walls when I didn't like the color. He went out of his way to find items that matched despite the distance. He made a point of choosing one piece that overlaps the gap in the french door that he thought I would like (and I do!). One hears a lot of horror stories if contractors starting work and then disappearing for weeks. Not Ulises. He and/or his crew were there every day. I recommend him Highly and with no reservations,

I hired Ulises to replace two custom-sized window sills after they became warped. He came to inspect the job and provide an estimate within hours of my broker's request. He was friendly, professional and transparent. He was able to accommodate a tight timeline and the final job looked fantastic. I really appreciated his responsive communication and expert work throughout.

Alanis and his team were fantastic. I used them to paint my entire 2 bed/2 bath condo as well as some electrical, plumbing and other random handyman work. I got three bids on the project and Alanis Development came in at a very competitive rate, but most importantly I just trusted Alanis. He knows what he's doing. Project was complete on schedule despite me adding additional work requests half way through the project. I would use his services again.

Ulises was very thorough and responsive! We needed the fireplace to be refaced before listing a condo, and he was able to give a quote and start the project ASAP. This is the second time I've worked with Alanis Development. This project was full house (condo) painting, with numerous drywall repairs, due to some HVAC repairs. Also included painting kitchen cabinets - which I highly recommend to refresh your kitchen. Once we contracted, the Alanis team met all timetables. The team was reliable, polite, and competent. They did their best to make sure we were able to use our living spaces each evening; things were kept clean and tidy in our condo.Ulises checked on the project and our satisfaction frequently. He was also helpful as we chose colors and paint finishes. The price was fair and firm - no surprises.

The job included plumbing and drywall repair. The repairman was highly professional and courteous. Overall, the company provided excellent service. The repair is spotless. Clean and perfectly done.

Spent over 3,000 to redo cabinets in our bathroom and after less than one month the paint is chipping. Really disappointed in the quality of work.

Like a few other reviewers on this website, I cannot speak to Ulises’ work because he declined to take on my project. I have no qualms with the fact that he declined to take the job (it is perfectly within his right to do so), but I do have issues with his inability to communicate this information to me. After the initial phone call, Ulises came out to my home and reviewed the work that needed to be done. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He said that he would follow-up by email with a proposal. Three weeks went by and I had not yet received the proposal or any other communication, so I sent him a follow-up email. He apologized for the delay and stated he would be working on the proposal early the next week. I waited for the proposal for an additional FOUR weeks. Again, I did not receive any communication during that time. A quick update on the progress of the proposal would have been appreciated. I sent him a follow-up email and he responded that he “would not be able to provide an estimate” because his employee that does wallpaper is no longer available and he would "rather pass." I am very frustrated that it took him seven weeks to tell me that he did not want to do the project. This is lost time that I could have spent looking for a different contractor. The project could have plausibly been completed by now. Because of the unreasonable length of time between emails, which I had to initiate, I am convinced that if I had never reached out, I would have never heard from Ulises again after our initial meeting. I am writing this review so potential clients can be aware they may experience a lack of communication and/or long wait times to receive an estimate.

We hired Alanis Development to completely renovate a kitchen and bathroom. They were very easy to work and communicate with, offered creative solutions and the workmen were patient, kind and professional. We provided the layout and design and they made it come to life ... love the new look!!

I hired Alanis Development to complete a kitchen backsplash project. After reaching out to several contractors recommended by the tile store, I found Ulisses at Alanis to be the most responsive and knowledgeable about the process of everyone I contacted. I hired the team to do the work which took approximately 2 days (1/2 day each). The contractor arrived on time, completed his work in a timely manner, and left my kitchen cleaner than I gave it to him! They also managed around working in a condo in the city which isn't always easy. I highly recommend this team.

Very pleased with their work. They were polite and professional and would not hesitate to use them for future projects.

Note that I did not have work done by Alanis Development Corporation...I did however contact them to work with them and was treated unprofessionally. My first appointment was set by Ulises for 5/16/2019 at 6:00PM and was cancelled and rescheduled to the following Saturday morning. Ulises did not show up or contact me during the new appointment time and hung up on me when I called him on the phone to see where he was. He later apologized and offered to come by later in the day. I cannot speak for his work but was frustrated with the initial process and will be looking elsewhere.

Ulises is an amazing contractor and the work he and his employees did is great. I needed a bathroom put back together after my condo building did a pipe replacement. I’m currently out of state and renting the unit. We did this remodel via text (I’m not kidding) and Ulises was on the mark with responses, information, and pictures. He always responded within the hour, even into the night, and he worked with the deadline I proposed to have my tenant back home. There were of course unanticipated issues, but Ulises incorporated them into the work we had discussed with ease. I was anxious, texting a lot of questions, and he answered all of them without irritation. He also answered calls immediately. Ulises did his absolute best to have my project done on time, though our finish date was slightly delayed due to weather. It would’ve been on time without the storm, I’m sure. My management checked the work when done and reported the work was absolutely great. This included tile work, vanity installation, tub re-glazing, painting, and shower door installation. We will definitely contract this company in the future.

Ulisses and his team did a phenomenal job. Our condo presented numerous hurdles and they handled all of them. The end result was tremendous, and they even helped us on a side project.

Alanis completed a major bathroom remodel involving replacement of a tub with walk-in shower, re-tiling, and installation of new hardware. The work was done on time and kept to the project budget. The work proceeded every day except for times of forseen downtime. No wondering when the contractor might show up, as I've experienced with other contractors. The final product was well done quality work. Importantly, communication was excellent before and during the work. Calls and texts promptly returned, questions answered, updates on progress were regular. The workers were courteous and professional. The jobsite area was left clean and orderly every day. Alanis also offered helpful suggestions on material suppliers to use. I would highly recommend Alanis.

Alanis Development did a bathroom remodel in my mother’s condo in Chicago . He did a great job dealing with the management in the building to get the work done in a timely fashion. The bathroom turned out beautiful.

Ulises and did a great job helping transform my 80s kitchen and bath into a modern masterpiece:) He’s quote was fair and he did a nice job keeping me informed throughout the process. He was also open to me using Ikea cabinets with Semi-Handmade fronts. I am really pleased with the final result.

I hired Alanis for two bathroom tile remods in September 2018 and could not be happier with the result. Their workers showed up on time every day, communicated well, were courteous, neat and showed great skill in their demo, building and tiling skills. I was given a fair price of $1500 for work in two units and they kept their word on the price despite some unforseen obstacles. I would recommend them to anyone who needs tile work done in their home, condo or apartment.

I was looking forward to working with Ulisses and his team. He came down to our home and gave us some great ideas & inspirations. He took measurements and told us he would get a proposal back to us by the end of the week. That was about 3 weeks ago...Such a bummer. No reply and no communication.

Ulises, Rolando and the crew did an amazing job remodeling our two bathrooms, both of which were quite outdated and the previous owner did not make much efforts maintaining it. We spoke with a few contractors and picked Alanis Development Corp because we really liked Ulises and his team. Not only did he give you a fair estimate but also made recommendations based on his experience. He sent pictures of his previous projects to give us inspiration for our design. Better yet, he was one of the few selected contractors that our local tile shop offers discounts for - we ended up saving a lot on tiles. During the project Rolando and the crew were courteous, patient, and tried to meet our needs to the best of their ability. We always feel like we are well informed of the progress and issues that came up. The project was finished on time before our planned vacation and we couldn’t be happier with the end products. I would definitely use them again for our future projects, and will not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is looking for a high-quality general contractor!

Ulises Alanis and his team were phenomenal during the renovation process. His team was very respectful of keeping dust to minimum and arriving and leaving on time each and everyday. Ulises did a great job of keeping us informed on the progress and the next step of the renovation. He always answered my questions promptly (which were a lot) and helped in making decisions that made our kitchen look great. We kept on adding projects throughout the process and he never once got frustrated. He was more than happy to take them on. I really feel that he wanted us to be 100% happy with the final product. We were so happy that we had them do our bathroom as well. The pictures I have included do not give the final result justice. We contacted Ulises at Alanis Development Corp to put up a kitchen backsplash on a Friday and the project was completely finished beautifully by the following Wednesday. He was able to give us a very reasonable quote just through pictures in a text message. My condominium complex is strict about getting work done, but Ulises was able to get us all the information/paperwork the building needed in time to start the project right away. Gerardo was the one who came to do the work. He was extremely friendly, professional, and did a great job! He had great attention to detail and we couldn’t be happier with the final product. Each day after completing the work he cleaned up and made it look like he was never here. We can’t stop looking at our backsplash. I would highly recommend Alanis Development Corp. Very reasonable cost and beautiful and professional work. We will be calling them for future projects!

We recently hired Ulises to do two projects in our Wicker Park home. We needed a half wall built in a loft room and we needed a new outdoor railing for our roof deck (our current railing was a safety nightmare for our toddler). I found Ulises on Angie's List and he came over within 2 days of me contacting him. He gave me great ideas for the wall and had a custom railing made for our outdoor space. And better yet, he started the project within days of the estimate (under a week, I think). Wait wait, it gets better. For the wall project, the guys working in our house were incredibly respectful of the dust and our home; they kept me updated the entire time. The outdoor custom made wrought-iron railing was installed a week later and not only is it safe for our daughter, it looks SO much better! I can't thank Ulises enough for maintaining excellent communication, respecting our home, and doing an excellent job in a very quick timeframe. I would HIGHLY recommend Ulises and his team for any project you have, big or small. I can't wait for him to replace our deck!!

I hired Alanis Development to install an exhaust fan for my oven in my third floor condo - something I previously could not find someone to do. They also installed a tile backsplash in my kitchen, recaulked my sink and painted the kitchen and dining room. They were on time, worked efficiently, readily accommodated small extra requests, and charged me the estimated price. The workers were courteous, pleasant, and non-intrusive. I recommend this company highly.

Our project was a backspalsh tile installation for our kitchen. We picked out a fairly intricate arabesque style tile so having an experienced installer was important. After reaching out to nearly 10 different installers and getting various levels of responses (most didn't even bother calling back) we found Alanis through Houzz. The communication and quoting process with Alanis was mainly over text and proved to be quick, painless and efficient. Their quote wasn't the cheapest but we were looking for quality rather than the cheapest guy around. Once we contracted to use their service we scheduled the project start date and their team showed up on time and ready to work. Their crew was prompt, hard working and most importantly skillful. The tile and grout work was completed in two days (roughly 30 square feet) and we couldn't be happier with the result. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Alanis and his crew to anyone else.

Throughout the course of the renovation, Mr. Alanis was a consummate professional. He was accurate in his initial assessment of the scale and cost of our project. He was absolutely clear in his record keeping and time log. He chose and managed the sub-contractors as well. In addition, he is extremely clean and tidy in the workplace. His employees never left the work site in disarray. They vacuumed all drywall dust daily. Mr. Alanis took special care to prevent any of the job dust from trailing throughout the center and our job was done with care and precision. Mr. Alanis and his team went above and beyond the scope of the work and continues to be a source of reference when needed. I highly recommend him and his team.

Alanis Company came out and did some repair work on my bathroom in November of 2016. They were extremely professional, thorough, and reliable. Ulises reached out to me several times during and after the process to make sure I was satisfied with the work and came out and finished the job during the holidays, which tells me he has a very dedicated team that will get the job done the right way. The team and high quality of the work they did was amazing, they even came out Thanksgiving morning to finish the job. They were diligent and detailed in their work and I was so grateful to see that there are companies that still hold high standards for the work they perform and place importance on the quality of a job !

I had repairs done on my home from another company and they were sub par. Ulises was able to make an emergency repair before I sold my house on a day's notice. I don't know of any other company that would be so helpful in an emergency.

Alanis was selected to build the porch, bay windows, remove nonconforming windows, replace wood siding and install new Marvin windows in locations original to the birthplace home of Walt Disney. They were provided with architectural plans and followed them according to specs. Alanis provided excellent carpentry work, replaced rotted wood and prepared areas of the home's exterior for painting. We are proud of the quality restoration work performed under the leadership of Ulises Alanis.

I hired Ulises & his team to install a subway tile backsplash in my kitchen. His team was professional, timely and executed the project flawlessly. Their office manager, Jenifer, was very friendly and responsive and made scheduling & billing a breeze. Despite this being a small project, the owner himself dropped by to make sure I was satisfied with the quality of the work. I plan on hiring them again for any future tile work!

Replace downspouts on exterior of 3 floor condo building. Repair water damage in common area and unit including replacing drywall and insulation, disinfecting mold/mildew, painting. Very responsive, gave a detailed estimate. Workers are prompt and cleanup well after themselves. Took extra precautions to contain dust when I was having an allergic reaction to the drywall dust/mildew/disinfectant. Followed up after work was completed to ensure that I was satisfied.

They were very professional and they did a very excellent job remodeling and fixing my bathroom. They tiled the floors and walls as I wanted. They change the toilet , sink, medicine cabinet and bathtub. They put new lights and vent.They rebuild the floors and ceiling. They made sure the plumbing and electric was working right. I highly recommend them.

Alanis development came to us initially in 2012 or 2013 when we had a water infiltration issue. They were given the job because we were impressed with Ulises' ability to comprehend the full scope of the job at hand, not just what we as the homeowners told him was the problem. He worked quickly and efficiently, and most importantly, cleanly. Part of the job was a dusty/moldy wall replacement in an elevator shaft. Before working, him and his crew not only protected the main area where they were working, but took the care to seal up the higher floors as well, effectively keeping the dust out of the rest of the house. Their attention to detail led us to hire them repeatedly for jobs at the house, as well as some rental properties we own. Work included turnover painting and repairs, mold remediation and drywall replacement, tiling, appliance installation, and most recently (Jan 2015) a bathroom remodeling in a downtown High-rise with wickedly restrictive contractor work rules. I would say we have given them somewhere between 4 and 6 jobs over since our initial work a few years ago, and my only complaint is that sometimes I can't get him when we need him because he's previously booked. Which, in a way, is the best thing about them. Knowing that others must be just as satisfied with their work as we are.
