ABA has basically renovated our entire home over the course of the last two years. Top notch work, efficient timelines, well articulated plans and well-established communication structures are their hallmarks. We also appreciate the contract-based approach that sets a fixed amount for the project and only changes with homeowner approval. This has not been our experience with other contractors and resulted in unexpectedly high final bills in order to deliver what we envisioned. As part of the design process, ABA listens to what homeowners really want and expect to spend and bid projects based on that.....not just the cheapest materials but instead the quality of finishes the homeowners expect. ABA is realistic from the start and their years of experience at this are evident as they base their contracts and plans on what it will really cost to get you what you actually want and done well. The owners are hands-on and directly involved in projects and it feels like a "boutique" experience as it ensures accountability and quality management. We also applaud their commitment to mitigating the environmental impact of the remodeling industry through responsible practices. And, they're really nice, honest people who genuinely care about their clients.

We hired ABA to help us with a unique project that other contractors had just stared at with disbelief: adding a roof on a brick silo that was attached to our house. They did an excellent job understanding the scope of the problem, working out several options in our budget and then rolling with a few surprises along the way. Ultimately, the project was done in time, mostly on budget, and with satisfying results. Our only complaint was an issue with one of their sub-contractors not properly protecting our roof during a rainstorm, but ABA stepped in and handled the issue quickly. One other idiosyncrasy of our project was having to convince the neighborhood Historical Preservation Society that the proposed work was within their strict guidelines. ABA stepped in and went to a meeting with the city to present our project and answer all questions. All in all it was a great experience. Highly recommended.

This was our second kitchen remodel with ABA, our first being 15 years earlier at our previous home. It was a no-brainer to hire them again. They are innovative designers and thorough, exacting and leave-no-stone unturned contractors. Excellent communicators...we always knew what was happening, when and why. They were on budget and on schedule and open to our suggestions. Bridget Ninmann was our designer and she was friendly, creative, thorough and organized. Ken Hahn was our project manager, there every day. He is a perfectionist, which is the best kind of worker to have! Ken cleaned up every night before he left, and always filled me in on what was happening the next day. He was friendly and kind and an all-around nice guy! The whole project was actually enjoyable with weekly meetings to discuss progress and what was coming next, and the results are spectacular! I pinch myself every single morning as I sit in this beautiful and highly functional new kitchen, which has already won a design award! Remodeling can be scary (we experienced a remodel from hell with another contractor before we found ABA). We would not hesitate to call ABA for any other remodeling projects we want done. They are the best in our book.

Architectural Building Arts did an outstanding job renovating the second story of our house. Their design team was able to envision a way to transform an oversized hallway into two bathrooms and a laundry. The build team made it all work beautifully. The attention to detail and quality of the work are exemplary. We are extremely please with how the project turned out.

We hired Architectural Building Arts to design and build our screened porch. From our first meeting with Melinda Monroe, owner of ABA, through the final walk-through of our porch, everything ran smoothly and the finished product greatly exceeded our expectations. From the start, the process, the timeline and the costs were clearly explained. We were thrilled with Bridget's design and we felt very lucky, indeed, to have Casey as our project manager. He was here every day, working tirelessly to make sure that everything was done perfectly. His attention to detail was greatly appreciated, as was his positive, can-do spirit and his ability to coordinate all of the excellent subcontractors. He was helped many days by John, who also did a great job on our patio and stonework. We were happy to have weekly meetings with Melinda, Bridget and Casey and felt, throughout, that our ideas and requests were respected and integrated into the project. All in all, it was a wonderful experience! We would highly recommend ABA to others!!!

Architectural Building Arts transformed our house, originally built in 1919 and remodeled once (poorly) in 1960. Their design, construction and finish won the national Chrysalis Award (ugly caterpillar to beautiful butterfly) that year. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, respectful of family and neighbors. Workmanship is top notch and environmentally sensitive. These guys are not the cheapest around, but they are the best, which makes them a bargain!

I've participated in ~5 remodeling projects and 1 new house construction in the last 20 years. Working with Architectural Building Arts (ABA) on my 2015 condo renovation (4-month project) was the best experience I've had by far.
The bidding process was transparent, detailed and timely. The on-site construction manager was knowledgeable, respectful, and communicated very well. All other subs and construction crew were collaborative with me. ABA's subs are high-quality craftsmen. Renovation projects often produce roadblocks that are unforeseen at the beginning of the project, and my project was no exception. What was an exception was the creative, cost-effective solutions ABA created.
The project finished within a week of schedule despite a major flooring delay, And, the entire project was completed within 5% of budget

ABA’s team completely remodeled the kitchen in our 1948 Cape Cod. The project included demolition of the entire space down to the studs and floor joists, building a small bump-out addition, installation of custom cabinets and custom tile work, and all finish cosmetics. The work was expertly managed and conducted from start to finish, including the orchestration of several sub-contractors. ABA completed the project exactly on time as promised, and met every milestone along the way. It was a pleasure to work with their entire team - especially our project manager who was on site every day and always ready to answer questions or provide any assistance to ease our pain while we lived in a house under construction and without a kitchen. Our experience could not have been better!

We have used ABA twice for large remodeling projects that have transformed our pre-war house into a magical dwelling. Their attention to detail and cleanliness removed so much of the stress of remodeling. We have continued to use them periodically for small job because we can just trust them and relax.

Architectural Building Arts has done multiple projects for me, and every time has been professional and cost conscience.
I've most appreciated:
1. Upfront costs and detailed work order.
2. Artistic and thoughtful consideration to the design.
3. Appropriate change orders curtailed to our conversations of what needs to be accomplished and how the finished product should be, within budgetary constrains.
4. Most of all - genuine care about how I feel about what I'm trying to accomplish.

ABA worked with us to design and remodel the upstairs bathroom in our 105 year old farm house. It was just a terrific experience - and we have a stylish, comfortable and original room that suits us perfectly. The designer, the project manager and the site manager were professional and competent, helpful and flexible when we needed them to be. Highly recommend them!

We hired ABA on the strength of their reputation, without seriously considering other firms. We have no regrets that we put our trust in ABA.
We are happy (and yes, proud) of the complete exterior remodel of our home and the addition of a first floor master bedroom and bath. The design is traditional and fits in with the character of the neighborhood, which is what we wanted. The addition, especially its size and proportion, is beautifully situated on the lot. (Everyone says the new construction looks like it has always been there.)
All the craftspeople, led and coordinated by the project manager, were experienced, dedicated, and motivated to seek perfection. Everybody on the worksite was congenial and got along well with one another, thus optimizing productivity. We observed a steady smooth pace of work each day with order maintained on the site at the end of each day. We appreciated the weekly group meetings with the president, architect, and project manager to go over changes in the project. This resulted in few surprises along the way.
Overall, the four-month duration of the project went by fast, a reflection of the exceptional teamwork of everyone at ABA!

My husband and I highly recommend Architectural Building Arts. Our project was a remodel of a modest 1920's bungalow in an urban neighborhood. ABA met and exceeded our expectations in every area: professional, sensitive to our needs and those of the neighbors, creative in design and problem solving, high standards of quality and workmanship, incredible time management and coordination of the many contractors and details, completely upfront about all costs from day one, and extremely responsive to any minor touchups or repairs after the project was completed. Best of all, from the office to the job site, they are lovely, friendly, and fun people who we thoroughly enjoyed working with every day, and were happy to have creating our new home, which we love. ABA did a remarkable job integrating the old with the new, recreating built-ins to match the original, and paying attention to small details of trim, siding, or finish, even on the new garage, that are completely appropriate to the original architecture yet serve our modern needs and sensibilities.
