We are SO happy with our down-to-studs bathroom remodel! The whole team at Big City Construction was wonderful to work with from start to finish, and we can’t wait to work with them again on our next project. I originally found Big City Construction on Houzz, where sent a request for more information. Ray sent back a very fast response, and we had a great chat where he gave me transparent expectations and estimated prices. After a visit, Ray was even able to provide me with a 3D rendering of the bathroom, plus a digital copy of the quote before we got started. The itemized invoice with payment plan was very easy to understand. One we got the demo started, I was so impressed how clean the team kept my home. They put down paper to protect the floors, and plastic barriers to maintain the dust. They even swept up before the left each day. We experienced a hurricane in the middle of our renovation, and Alberto, Ruben, and the rest of the team went above and beyond to prepare the bathroom before the storm. We were without power for a week, but that’s didn’t stop them from plugging forward as soon as it was safe to get back to work. Our bathroom came out even better than we expected, and we are so happy with the results. Thank you, Ray, Alberto and team!

Ray and Tony with Big City Construction managed the remodel of two guest bathrooms and one master bath in my high rise condo. After interviewing 4 contractors I selected Big City Construction because Ray spent the time to understand my project specs, wants and needs and was the only contractor who took the time to make detailed measurements and notes and discuss the unique aspects of my project. He was very honest and forthright about the special needs and struggles involved in my project without trying to alter the project to make it easier for him and his crew, but so I understood the specifics my project required. I felt very confident in his awareness and abilities. They became a partner in my project helping with creative solutions. His crew did excellent work, showed up on time every day – cleaned up before leaving, followed association rules and kept the other owners happy as well. A multi owner building has special issues with parking, noise and fume management as well as clean up…I received many compliments from other owners on what a pleasant and professional crew Big City was and their awareness and courteously of clean up of the property and consideration of being in the space of other owners. Tony, the project manager communicated with me daily and ensured we were on the same page with design detail and structure placement as well as providing daily and weekly work plans for the project. They also completed the project in the set time frame. I lived in the home during the remodel and they made every effort to keep the dust and debris at bay and provide me livable areas during construction. They even managed cat duty at times when I was not home, catching and confining the pets to specific safe rooms and were very cognizant of their safety. I am very happy with the craftmanship and excellent quality of the work done and have never worked with a contractor who always shows up on time, demonstrated they cared about my specific project daily and made sure any details were completed to my satisfaction. I can’t say enough good things about this company and they will be the only contractor l use in the future.

Ray Pena & his team of professionals are awesome! Great at managing the project from end-to-end and effectively communicates throughout the process, even when issues arise. How he manages the issues and sets expectations are absolutely key! Some of our work required some real creativity (we didn't always know exactly what we wanted) and the results were better than we could have imagined ourselves. We're totally hiring them for our next renovation projects next year: master bath, 2 guest baths and upstairs flooring.

We had our entire kitchen remodeled. Floors, Cabinets, Countertops, Pantries, Sink, Backsplash, Windows, etc.! We were very picky, and Big City Construction was very patient, and considerate in meeting our desires. They turned our little, old kitchen into a bigger, more beautiful, and more modern one!!! We love it, and are very satisfied. The price was also much better than other companies we received quotes from. The workers were all polite, and friendly, and went out of their way to accommodate us!

We want to thank Big City Construction's crew, like Tony and his guys, for doing a SUPER, NEAT job of installing our grab bars in our bathrooms. Because of major spinal surgeries, I faced a difficult obstacle of safely getting in the bathroom shower, tubs and toilet. Their suggestions were crucial in helping with the location of them, which in turn helped me! They came out promptly and were very neat and friendly both times we had to use their service. I had all the exterior wood replaced with Hardie plank along with the gutters awhile back. The workers kept the construction site as clean as possible and completed the job on time & within the price range as quoted. I had a problem with the gutters not draining, they came to my house a few days after I called & repaired the problem under warranty.

I used them to buy and install grab bars for one of my bathrooms to help my aging parents. Quick, easy, highly professional.

Ray, Tony, and their team of professionals undertook a master bath re-do, and delivered an outstanding end product. Every one of their pro's, from the plumbing, to electrical, to tile, to glass, to carpenters, and finish out experts did their jobs professionally. Every job like this always comes with unexpected surprises which involve unanticipated costs. Both Tony and Ray were very sensitive to this issue, and worked to come up with the best solutions to minimize both any additional cost as well as any additional time needed to resolve the issues. They and all the members of the "team" were also some of the nicest individuals I have worked with. Hiring Big City will get you both a job well done, and provide you the opportunity to work with wonderful people. And....you will be very pleased with the end product.

I found Big City on the website Houzz. I messaged Ray and he called me soon after. And we scheduled a meeting. He addressed all my questions and concerns via email or text and sometimes around the clock. . He was professional during the process. His team was very respectful. His customer service was exceptional. If an issue came up he would address it asap. He was patient when we changed our minds. He exceeded our expectations on the finished project. We did have a time frame but we actually finished before. We would recommend Ray and Big City Construction Co to anyone. Especially to first time home remodelers. When we are ready to remodel again we will use Big City again.

Started with a simple kitchen update (countertops and backsplash). After receiving exceptional service we continued with a full bathroom remodel, replacing all interior doors, a custom closet for the nursery of our first child and a custom entertainment center with ventless gas fireplace. Each project met our goals and exceeded our expectations. We will continue to use BigCity to make our house the home of our dreams.

After being effected by hurricane Harvey, we had no clue where to start. Right away Ray and his team made us feel at ease and comfortable with what was traumatic situation for my family. When it came to rebuilding, Ray and his team kept us informed every step of the way and were incredibly patient with us as we chose finishes for our home. No matter what time or concern I had,big city construction was there to answer and address any call, txt, or email. The team worked around the clock and really did everything possible to get us back in our home as soon as possible( even working on holidays). Was referred to by another contractor who knew my situation with the incomplete job of another contractor. Ray came in and put some plywood and a sink on my counter while we ordered and and waited till the granite came in for the countertop . It was a special order so we waited about 2 weeks and they came in and installed it and we are very satisfied with his professionalism and great job that his crew did . we were down in the dumps but now we are feeling great thanks to Big City Construction I will refer these guys to anybody who needed a great job done. Big City Construction has just finished their second project for me which was a kitchen remodel. They carefully demo'd the old counter tops and back splash without impacting the rest of our home. While we chose the style of granite to replace they went out and found an awesome piece that was beautifully well figured. They also recommended areas where we could change the how far the counter extended to get more counter space and breakfast bar space. The backsplash tile work was first class and really looks amazing. We feel like we got alot for our money with Big City Construction but to top it all off they are always genuine about timelines and deliverables and respect your time. Additionally, they will not do shoddy work. When they had a problem with a stealthy leaky drain they opted to extended project time line to fix it correctly rather than patch the issue and let it linger for the future. To top it all off they consistently outperform what they bid on the project and it is because of this that I will be using them again in the future.

I would highly recommend Ray with Bit City Construction. He remodeled our master shower and countertops/sinks/cabinets in our master and hall bath. He did an excellent job!

Ray and his company were very professional in every aspect of the job they were hired to do. One thing I noticed was that they cleaned up their work space every day, which is not something most companies do, but was very appreciated. They were hired to remodel my shower and lay tile in the master bathroom. The end result was exactly what I was looking for.

We used Ray for a complete remodel of our home in Riverside Terrace (3rd ward). We purchased the home as is (and in really bad shape) in July 2016, he started in August 2016 and we were moved in by Thanksgiving 2016. Remodeling / home construction was very new for us, so before closing on the house we decided to set up a day to interview about 6 different contractors that we found on Houzz to get their ideas and have them work up bids for a full-home remodel. Ray stood out as the obvious choice as he came to the meeting prepared with his tape measure and calculator ready to give ballpark estimates before submitting a final bid. During that first meeting, we threw out rough ideas to Ray and he was able to tell us ways that we could optimize our budget by making slight changes to our layout. The key highlights of our renovation include conversion of a den to a master suite (with new plumbing) and the creation of a large galley style kitchen / dining area from 4 separate rooms. It truly now feels like a new home. We hardly remember the compartmentalized spaces when we first bought the home; it rarely clicks to us that we are in the same house. Within the first 2-3 days of the project, Ray's team had the house demo'd framed and ready for remodel. As expected with an older house, once the walls came down, we ran into galvanized / lead plumbing and knob & tube electrical. We didn't initially plan to replace all electrical and plumbing, but Ray helped us optimize the budget in other places to make sure that he did the job right. Down to the bones, we have a new house with new PVC piping and all new electrical wiring. Ray even took the time to pre-wire us for an alarm system and speaker system before we closed up any drywall. At various critical points in the process (like before closing up dry wall), Ray would meet with us and do walk-throughs at the house to make sure that everything was exactly how we wanted it before moving on to the next phase. Ray helped us select materials that kept us within budget, yet still added tons of style and grace to our new home. All of the major details of the home (the pretty stuff) was done within the last 3-4 weeks of moving in. Everything from tile to countertops to backsplash was done expertly and with careful material selection. One of the best things about Ray is his communication. Ray maintained a group text with us throughout the project and would call us whenever there was anything critical to address regarding construction, schedule or budget. We came out over our original budget as we did a few upgrades and added some work to the original scope. Ray helped us accommodate these changes into the schedule while still keeping the original line items on schedule. For us, there was a delicate balance between schedule and budget as we were paying both rent and mortgage during the time of our renovation and it was critical for us to move in. As for quality of work, I have included some before and after pictures and I will let the work speak for itself! The final thing that spoke to Ray's professionalism is that he left at least one man on the job for about 3 weeks after the bulk of the project was completed to do final touch-ups (i.e. minor paint / trim work). Ray is just a trustworthy, honest, hard-working guy who became our friend throughout this process. We look forward to working with he and his team on future projects. Jason & Starr Harry
