Artistic Stone Design
Oregon City, OR Kitchen and Bathroom Remodelers

Alex and his team at Artistic Stone Design are true artisans. We hired ASD to do a granite tub surround, granite bath countertop and tile work in a bathroom remodel. The work is absolutely beautiful. Alex did mitered corners in the bathtub surround to create a fluid line as well as around a very intricate shampoo/soap niche. The countertop edge is very rich and luxurious looking. The job was done in a timely manner and within budget. I would highly recommend Alex and his team at Artistic Stone Design. He is a craftsman and was very easy to work with. We are extremely pleased with the results.
Ovation Design Build
Oregon City, OR Kitchen and Bathroom Remodelers
February 28, 2014
John and Sandy Hendricks of Ovation Design Build approached our kitchen and master bath remodel projects with enthusiasm and a high level of expertise, experience and professionalism. In each case, they spent time with us to better understand what we wanted, and then came up with a design plan that reflected both us and our life style perfectly. Sandy has wonderful design ideas, and John is expert at implementing them. They have great resources both for the material needed for the project (countertops, tile, hardware, cabinets etc.), and the people who can install them to their exacting standards. They both have an eye for detail and like a job to be done correctly, and the results show that. While they took our ideas into account, there are so many features we continue to appreciate every day that are a direct result of the excellent suggestions and guidance that Sandy and John provided. Their friendly manner certainly enhanced the whole experience.

The team at Master Builder did a great job and were extremely professional. We hired them to remodel our all our baths and kitchen. The work included new tile, new cabinets and new bathtub installation. The kitchen included new design with all things installed. They outsourced some of the plumbing but performed most of the work themselves. They are detail oriented and left a clean work area each evening. They used the garage for their shop throughout the remodel and it worked fine. They also bring a trailer with an impressive array of professional tools. Everyone listened to our questions and suggestions. They were fair about changes or mistakes which happens with any large jobs. My only recommendation is to get clear understanding of the type and frequency of communication you want to receive. I like emails answered in 24 hours and had to learn that isn't their style so if I didn't get a response in 48 I'd email back with an ETA for the response otherwise we were very happy. They were always prompt and arrived when scheduled. This is a great team to work with and I'm confident we'll have them do more work in the next few years.
Maughan Design & Remodel
Oregon City, OR Kitchen and Bathroom Remodelers
September 22, 2012
Last fall, we took on our first remodel project (master bath) and hired Kathie Maughan to work with us on the project. While we had the choice of just having her do a design for us, we knew we wanted the added comfort of having her handle all the details, and had her manage the project as well. This was a really good decision. Kathie made sure we felt comfortable with every phase of the project and worked hard at correcting any issues that came up. She checked in almost every day and was always available to answer my questions (even on a Saturday at one point). But beyond the pleasure of working with Kathie, is the pleasure of working with her wonderfully conscientious crew. They answered questions, explained processes and were unfailingly friendly and courteous. This is a great bunch of people to have come into your home and leave a beautiful space behind. We are truly pleased with the results and will use Maughan Design again in the future.

My wife and I are an older couple needing an easy walk-in shower. After going to home shows and big box stores. We requested Toss the Tub to make a design and an estimate. We also received competitive bids from other companies. We explained our tight budget and requirements. They came to our house and discussed all the aspects of what would need to be done. They provided all the details, materials, and time frames of when things would be done. They also offered to allow us to do some of the finishing items to keep costs down. I explained that I might have to do a portion of the project a piece at a time. They offered financing at real reasonable terms. They also offered to do parts now and later as we could afford it. They are going to replace our tub with a tiled shower, floor and back splash. The final design changed as couple of times but they worked with us each time. The final cost was less than $8000 much less than I expected. I will send pictures when the job is done in August or you can come by and take them we they are working.
Northland Design & Build
Oregon City, OR Kitchen and Bathroom Remodelers
September 5, 2015
Northalnd Design and Build made our home remodel a great experience. Gina, the designer, quickly grasped our vision and directed our search, making it fun and productive. She showed excellent ability to take our vision and turn it into something even better. She was very receptive to our ideas and "monkey wrenches." We had just the right amount of control over decisions to not be overwhelmed and to have an end result that was truly ours. Rod, the contractor, took everything we threw at him and made it work. They finished on time, to the day. There were no surprises along the way. Any issues that we identified were dealt with promptly and to our satisfaction. The workmanship is top notch. The subs were professional and did an excellent quality of work. Our herringbone back splash is the "star" that everyone compliments. The whole team at Northland Design and Build is fantastic and we could not have asked for a better, more trustworthy group to remodel our home.

We added a sunroom and remodeled our kitchen after experiencing water damage in the kitchen. We were given a calendar of who would be in our home for the whole project before the project began. If there were changes we were notified ahead of time. The subs were very respectful of our space and cleaned up every night. If they wanted to stay late, they asked if that was okay. The subs were expected to produce outstanding work and were called back if it was unacceptable. A phone call took care of any issues we had. All of the vendors on the preferred vendor list were great to work with. We were given a completion date and on that date the final inspection had been done and we were able to move into the area.

The shelving and cabinets Parsons installed in our garage are both beautiful and functional. I especially like the "soft close" drawers. And the storage for my wife's art are excellent.
Skandia Design and Remodeling

June 9, 2016
My project was a root-and-branch kitchen design/rebuild. The original house dates from 1897 but it's been jerked around and added onto quite a bit so that the kitchen is now the very visible center of the house. I wanted to roll the kitchen and old dining room plus a disused bathroom into a single large live-in kitchen with a laundry area that could be closed from view. I also wanted a mudroom and a second sink to deal with heaps of muddy produce from my all-seasons vegetable garden. Paul Olson at Skandia had a nifty 3D program that allowed us to visualize and play with the layout. Two walls were removed; the mudroom was built out onto the existing back porch. Walls, ceiling, floors (including the ceiling below in the basement) were stripped to the studs. Skandia did all new flooring, sheetrock, paint, lighting, plumbing, windows, counters. I shopped for the appliances but Skandia installed them, including a massive range hood that was difficult to duct because of my low ceilings. I do a lot of cooking. I grow all my own vegetables, and make all my own everything. I've lived over twenty years in this house. So, I had a lot of views on how I wanted my kitchen to be. Like, a kitchen door should have all the fiddly little individual glass panes that take two days to paint around, not just one big pane with lined divisions. I need the counter lowered where I roll pastry. I wanted new cabinets, and a lot more of them, but reusing as much as possible of the original vertical grain fir... All this to say, I may not have been the most easy-going client to work with. Too, the hundred-plus-year-old house has no straight lines or level surfaces. There were random hot wires in the ceiling and mummified rats under the floor. Of the three design/build contractors and one architect I interviewed, Paul Olson at Skandia was the only one who seemed really interested—I don't mean in landing the job but in the house itself. He got the vibe. Paul has an artist's eye and experience with period styles. He walked me through all the kerjillion design choices and kept me real with the budget. When I needed to pare down he helped me pare, and where I wanted to splurge he enabled (that fabulous green stone countertop!) His cabinetmaker, Alexei, even built me a red lacquer "Chinese" cabinet for my collection of CDs. Skandia was not the lowest bidder. But Paul stuck religiously to his estimates. There was not one single surprise. Every single workman who came to the house seemed to have known Paul since their dads went to high school together. The men were uniformly competent, punctual, and a joy to have around. Especially, Paul's right-hand man Bil Frost must be the handyman in the mind of God. Bil never left the house without cleaning everything. There was no detail too minute, too fiddling, to often, too back-breaking. Haul the old fridge to the basement? Sure! Need to cut out the basement door frame to make it fit? Hey, no problem. I blush to think how often I heard Bil say, "She wants..." But I got it, whatever I wanted. The job took three and a half months and cost a staggering amount of money. I love my new kitchen with a sick passion. I would hire Paul (and Bil! I would adopt Bil) again in a shot. And actually the whole look and flow of the house are so improved, if I sold the property today I believe I'd make my money back.

The sales Sabrinna was really great! Very quick response and easy to communicate. The tile guy was excellent. Most of the jobs were done by their in house crews and they provided nice quality work. The only thing needs to be improved is to communicate and organize the schedule better when the sales person is on vacation. Otherwise it's a breeze to communicate with Sabrina.
