Hammer Design Build Remodel
Washington D.C., DC Kitchen and Bathroom Remodelers
July 19, 2013
Greg from Hammer Contractors was one of the best I've worked with. We have not actually started the work yet, but he gave great information and outlined the steps involved in getting it done. He was punctual, and always followed up with an email to check the status of my talks with the bank. He was always respectful and actually listened to us. We will definitely be working with him again.
Milano Dezign & Build
Washington D.C., DC Kitchen and Bathroom Remodelers
March 6, 2018
Milano Dezign was recommended by a friend of mine who had recently renovated his bathroom. The communication and the whole process of renovating our master bathroom was smooth and quick. They took into consideration all our concerns and preferences about how much more functional our bathroom should be. Now we have everything what we’ve asked for with a modern touch and great functional ideas! Definitely a great company to work with. Will recommend for sure. Thank you Milano Dezign team for your professionalism.
Modern Style Construction LLC

We hired them to completely renovate 2 smallish bathrooms in our circa 1949 house. They were professional and efficient and I enjoyed dealing with all of them from the owners to the workers. This house is solidly built and the bathroom walls and floors were solidly built so the demo was very challenging but they put up plastic barriers and carried everything out right away. They put everything back together with great skill and care. They found creative solutions to unexpected challenges like a vanity that needed some interior reconstruction. Even better, the plumber/electrician figured out how to get more running feet of dress hanging space out of the new closet system for a master bedroom closet that had to give up space to the newly enlarged adjacent shower. Over all, a wonderful experience. I can't wait until we can afford a new kitchen!
James L. Graves Construction
Washington D.C., DC Kitchen and Bathroom Remodelers
January 8, 2014
I suffered a catastrophic loss when a pipe in a 2nd floor bathroom in my house burst during a cold freeze. Two floor were ruined (luckily water does not run uphill, so the 3rd floor was spared). I hired James L. Graves Construction on the recommendation of neighbors...the husband and wife were both architects and had worked with the firm and thought highly of Mr. Graves and his company. Mr. Graves was my savior, guide and tutor during the multi-year undertaking to rebuild my 3 bedroom/2-1 bathroom home that won national awards when originally constructed in the late 1970's. I knew nothing about construction (I do now), but with him by my side I learned what to look for, ask for and avoid. He and his employees and subcontractors walked me through the innumerable problems and decisions I had to make, but never rushed me and provided me all the pros and cons and cost options so that I could feel comfortable with the outcomes. When I explained I never wanted to deal with a ruptured pipe or be cold in the house again, Mr. Graves did research into foaming the entire house...the cost was high but the results have been amazing. When the city insisted that we had to install a fire suppression system (the city council had just passed an ordinance), Mr. Graves worked with the city for a year to figure out what they wanted and would approve (mine was the first house subject to the ordinance and the fire department apparently used us a learning opportunity, and, thankfully, Mr. Graves dealt with the frustration far better than I ever did). Mr. Graves went with me to see city officials when I had questions about new city regulations impacting the restoration. He went with me to the architectural firm I hired to prepare plans for the restoration. He was an active participant in these meetings, raising issues I hadn't thought to ask and being there for me. We became a true team as we tackled the project of rebuilding my home. I unintentionally created a few problems, but Mr. Graves never noticed. When I bought a refrigerator that was too deep for the kitchen, I suggested a solution...a bump-out in the exterior wall into which the refrigerator could be recessed...and Mr. Graves made it happen. When I bought the wrong exterior fixtures for the showers...the wouldn't work with the plumbing that had been put in...I received an education on plumbing (!) and then understood what I needed to buy, returned the wrong products and got the right ones. Easy!! When the powder room proved too small for a regular sink cabinet, Mr. Graves' on-site project manager (a fabulous person who I adopted him as a honorary member of my family!) built a custom cabinet that fit the space perfectly. When I came out one tile short for a backsplash for a bar area, Mr. Graves picked up the phone and asked and got from his supplier for that single tile. His associates love working with him and give him their full and immediate attention. Mr. Graves gave me that same quality attention, whether I called, texted or sent an email. He was always there. Always. We set and adhered to a budget (I paid for some things that I wanted but had not included in the budget) and the finished house is what I envisioned when we began this effort. Staying within the footprint, it now is a 21st century modern structure...with spa-like bathrooms and a gorgeous kitchen...that was entirely rebuilt from the framing in. it is a new house wrapped in the old cedar bones...and it is ready to be entered into another competition. And in Mr. Graves I have found a friend, a professional mentor and, should I ever renovate another house, my next and only general contractor!

Joe and his team are simply the best at what they do! I initially hired them to remodel my master bath and when that turned out so beautiful and was done in less time. I hired them again to remodel my kitchen and other small renovations around the house. What is so great about Blackstone is that they have true craftsmen, incredible attention to detail and can do it all from design to tile work to electrical to plumbing to carpentry. When you hire Blackstone Kitchen and bath everything you will ever need for your project is all right there in one complete professional yet friendly package! I love everything they have done for me and you will too
Hassle Free Home Improvements
Washington D.C., DC Kitchen and Bathroom Remodelers
July 11, 2014
The crew was on time every morning and worked at least part of every day during the period. Length of day depended on what materials had been delivered, whether there was wet paint or spackling that had to be allowed to dry, etc. Our contract called for the work to be done in seven weeks and it was done in six. The final cost was very close to the original estimate and we were notified of any adjustments, plus or minus, when they occurred, so there were no surprises or sticker shock. For example, Steve suggested changing the original plan by moving the toilet to a better location, which would open the bathroom up much more and make it noticeably larger. It was a great idea, but there was a slight additional cost for plumbing and we were told this before the change was made and we approved it. By the same token, an original plan to build a new closet in the adjoining room was dropped and there was a corresponding reduction in the costs. Mickey made two or three visits to our house to scope out possible plans for the new bathroom long before work began. He also spent an entire day with us visiting the various shops that sold the materials we needed, including counter tops, tile, and plumbing fixtures. He also ordered cabinets and other materials to our specifications. The quality of the work was first rate and we are very happy with the new bathroom, closet and hallway. There were some minor fixes and touch ups that were needed in the days following completion of work, and someone was here promptly each day to complete them until we were satisfied. The crew deserves special praise for their excellent work, terrific attitude, professionalism and friendliness. If you are going to have people working in your house for six weeks, these are the kind of guys you want doing the work. We became friends with all of them and will have them back for more work this year. All in all, we could not be happier with Hassle Free Home Improvements and highly recommend the company.

James O.Reilly did an amazing job on my master bathroom. He paid attention to details. Our concerns were his concerns. I have not encountered a more incredible contractor than James. I highly recommend him.
Bath + Kitchen
Washington D.C., DC Kitchen and Bathroom Remodelers
February 22, 2016
I am very happy with the work that Bath Plus Kitchen did for my kitchen renovation. Our outdated kitchen was completely gutted, and the final result has changed the entire feel of our house. (See attached before and after photos.) They were able to start the project immediately, which was very important to us, and stuck to their timeline. Eric worked with us diligently to provide advice on a number of topics and to promptly resolve any issues, and his team was hardworking and courteous. I would definitely recommend them to anyone seeking to complete a kitchen renovation.
