Capitol Design, Joe Currie, worked with my husband and I for much of 2019 on the renovation design for the 80's Texas Hill Country home we bought. The house was solid, VERY dated, and needed a bit more square footage to accommodate our family's needs. Joe helped us update the style and use of the existing space; his experience with living spaces across the country was so valuable to us. He also helped us add square footage in a second floor. He managed the engineer's visits, of which there were several. I would call Joe again in the future with design needs. We are currently waiting on permits, and hope to have the project completed in early fall 2020.

Working with Joe was a pleasure. He spent a lot of time reviewing our needs and our goals while providing suggestions and guidance on our choices and design for our kitchen. He was patient and accommodated our change requests and provided detailed 3d renders and drawings prior to any construction beginning. He was very helping in making suggestions to maximize our value for dollar spent. We gutted our kitchen to the walls and replaced everything including all cabinets, appliances, countertops, and expanded the entire kitchen island. We installed a new range and hood and enlarged the existing vent. Joe did an excellent job managing the various vendors and contractors and guided us through the entire experience of selecting our materials and appliances. I would highly recommend Joe to anyone looking to do a complete kitchen remodel. Joe was also extremely helpful in taking care of issues (which are guaranteed to come up in any major remodel) including taking care of damage caused by contractors and making sure were satisfied with the fit and finish of the kitchen even months after the job was completed and we found small issues. Although his services weren't cheap, I strongly believe you get what you pay for and I plan on using Joe for future projects. I don't believe our kitchen would have turned out as wonderfully as it did if we had tried to do this without Joe.

When I started my kitchen remodel, only knew that I wanted new cabinets and something super durable and easy maintenance but not boring. Joe guided me to a kitchen that in addition had a much more open feel, better traffic flow, and more storage space. The 3D renderings were crucial for showing me possibilities. Joe's crews were friendly and helpful and made sure all the details were right. I now have a happy space with a little pizazz and I can't think of a thing I would change.

We hired Joe to do a kitchen remodel for us and are extremely pleased with the results. Joe is knowledgeable, professional, and detail-oriented. It was a great experience working with Joe. Our project was to merge our dining area to the kitchen. He was easy to work with, listened to our needs/desires and cooperatively produced a unique and on target design. He managed the construction phase and all of his subs (with one exception) were equally responsive to our needs and produced excellent results. We plan to use Joe again for future work.

Joe did a great job on helping us design our new kitchen and implementing those changes. It was a big job. We knocked down walls and moved appliances. He had lots of ideas and was not pushy at all. The video rendering were super helpful because I could get an idea of what it would really look like. I would for sure hire him again.

We have a nice home in a lovely neighborhood, but it was a typical suburban design with narrow hallways and compartmented rooms. We had recently remodeled the basement and we were now ready to tackle the kitchen. We knew we wanted a more workable kitchen and that removing a wall would create a better space for entertaining. We also knew we wanted the project to have a “wow” factor but were not exactly sure how to get there. Our interior designer knew just who we needed; she referred us to Joe Currie of Capitol Design. The first thing Joe suggested was reconfiguring the layout of the room itself by removing a wall and widening an entrance to open the space to the family room. He also streamlined the room by deleting a door and removing a zig-zag portion of a wall. We wanted to retain seating in the kitchen and didn’t know how this new layout would accommodate it. Joe designed a 45° peninsula with an attached 48” diameter round glass tabletop. Even with renderings, it was still difficult to visualize. The day before installation, I called Joe to express my reservation, and he asked me just to trust him. We are so glad we did. Now when friends and relatives see the kitchen for the first time, they say, “Wow!” We found Joe to be very knowledgeable about all phases of construction and design, very patient with our questions and concerns and extremely accessible by phone, text or email. We look forward to working with Joe on our next project.

We were designing a new home and the kitchen was consistently an issue. My wife wanted all the amenities. Multiple islands, vast amounts of working counter top space, and every appliance that exists. Joe did a major redesign of our kitchen/dining area. I was hesitant to contact him at first because his projects all seemed really high-end. I was afraid he wouldn't be interested in working on a country farmhouse. I needn't have worried -- Joe took as much care with my house as he does with a million dollar project. From first to last, he was attentive, enthusiastic and conscientious, and his crew was skilled and dependable. A construction site is always somewhat chaotic and messy, but they made sure to clean up and pick up as much as possible before they left each day. I shared my Houzz wish list with Joe when we first met. I knew I couldn't have everything on the list, so Joe helped me narrow it down to the features that were most important to me. He even picked up on something I never came out and said -- my need for an open, airy space where I'd feel like I had room to breathe. The design he came up with was completely unexpected, and yet once I saw his renderings, I couldn't imagine doing it any other way. Left to my own devices, I'd have probably crammed too much in and lost the opportunity to have a space where friends and family could congregate without stepping all over each other. I couldn't be more pleased with Joe and his work. He'll definitely be the one I call for future projects.

I recently worked with Joe on my kitchen remodel drawings and had an amazing experience! He was very attentive, kind, and provided support and encouragement on design choices throughout the process. I also appreciated the fact that even after he shared the drawings, he happily and promptly responded to my millions of follow up email questions. My contractor also found his drawings to be extremely helpful and thorough and I high recommend him.

We made the wise decision to engage Capital Design to remodel and upgrade the kitchen of our newly purchased home in Lakeway, Texas. We loved our new home, but the kitchen seemed dark and dated compared to this otherwise beautiful home. From the onset of the project through its completion, Joe Curie provided us with the vision and tasteful design ideas which resulted in a beautiful new layout that is open and vibrant. Joe designed our master bathroom as our home was 20 years old and needed to be updated. His design was very complex as we moved walls and completely changed the layout. What set him aside from others was the fact that he stayed very involved and active in the entire process. He helped us select all fixtures, cabinets, tile, stonework as well as helped us pick the final contractor and was in the middle of the whole process from design to completion. We could not be happier with the end result and credit Joe in large part for the success. Based on this project we will most certainly use him as we remodel the rest of our home.

I never met Joe Currie before we hired him but I figured he must have a really big head because all the photos I saw of his work were gorgeous. Well, now that our kitchen/dining/living room remodel is complete I still don’t know if Joe has a big head because I have yet to meet him in person. What I do know now — after he helped us create a gorgeous space of our own — is that he richly deserves any and all accolades bestowed upon him… and whatever sized ego that might result. Our project goals seemed unattainable. We had a love/hate relationship with the modest, 60’s ranch house we had bought and for the life of us we couldn’t figure out how to fix it. When our contractor suggested we work with a designer 1000 miles away I was skeptical. Could we really do everything that needed to be done via phone and email? How could someone who had never set foot in our house get a good feel for the space? Many of the projects in Joe’s portfolio seemed more elaborate than what we wanted (or could afford) and I wondered if he would push us in directions we weren’t prepared to go. Those concerns were short lived, however, as the Joe I got to know and who got to know us (maybe better than he would have liked!) was warm, gracious, and perfectly willing to let me steer our course. It was a circuitous path, to be sure, as I am not one to make even the smallest decision without changing my mind several times. Having Joe as our “virtual guide” took a great deal of pressure off my husband who, by the way, was thrilled to let “the expert” deal with his indecisive wife! And Joe was incredibly patient and resilient throughout our “long distance relationship.” His virtual renderings really helped me “see” what I otherwise couldn’t imagine. He finessed every good idea I had into something better. When I had questions, he had answers. When I didn’t like his first answer, he’d whip up a new, illustrated solution to address my concern in the blink of an eye. When I was at my wit’s end, he revived my spirits with his own special brand of wit and humor. The final result was a true collaborative effort. We no longer have a dysfunctional relationship with our house and we credit Joe (and our contractor) for ably facilitating this physical and emotional transformation. It’s not the house we bought, it’s not Joe-the-Designer’s house, it’s OUR house, and we love it!

Joe Currie created exquisiteblue print/designs detailing where everything should be placed in our kitchen rennovation from sink, fridge, cooktop, oven, dishwasher, cabintry and counters. His attention to funcionality and asthetics were perfect. He focused on each cabinet type making sure I had enough small storage and large storage while keeping the vision of the room balanced. He looked at where appliances were placed so that there was useful counter space and functionality for each. He maximized the use of the space and made my kitchen/dining area a beautiful and practical room.

One meeting with Joe and you have to love him. His affable personality is only overshadowed by his skill and ability to plan space and design. I first met Joe in 2006 when we both worked in the Washington, D.C. market (he in design and me in remodeling) and learned why he has been so successful in design. Having been around the industry my whole life I have come to pick out different projects from well known designers by their "signature" elements.
