I had a issue with the floor in my walkout basement kitchen. I had a handyman look at it and he said it was a bigger project than he could do and that I needed a contractor. He recommended Castle. I happened to know a former employee and she told me that they were trust worthy and very good. The designers I worked with were very good and helpful. The subcontractors used (plumber, painters, etc) were all very good and professional. We are very pleased with the final results.

Excellent design with great functionality. Expert craftsmen. Project management was timely and met expected completion date. Effective communication from all team members. Are again using Castle for a new renovation in 2019. Extremely happy with the process and outcome!

This is the second time I've worked with Castle Building & Remodeling and I can't recommend them more highly. Two years ago they did a major renovation to my kitchen which still looks great, and this summer they did a lovely refresh of my front porch. They were easy to work with, timely, and professional throughout the construction process, as well as afterward. Two thumbs up!

I cannot tell you how important it is to choose a professional builder like Castle for your project. One that will do the right thing and take care of you when you encounter problems. And with any project of this magnitude you will encounter problems. If you don't you are the luckiest person alive. We had a series of very bad luck items occur that certainly were not the fault of Castle but at every turn they made it right. Preliminary Estimates: When other builders wouldn't give us the time of day, because or project was bigger than our budget Castle worked with us to figure out a way that we could do it. We ended up doing some of the demo, painting, trim work and tile work and other finish work. This really means Castle had to do extra administrative work to make this work. Not every builder will do it. They have to schedule homeowner work into the calendar just like a regular contractor. We really appreciated that Loren (the co-owner) and Amanda (Designer) came out and talked us through our project options on the first visit. They were able to give us some options and ball park figures based on other projects after just a few days. Design: We then spent a couple months working through the design and budget. Amanda was fantastic. We had really thought about this project for years so we had some good ideas to start with but Amanda created a kitchen configuration that we hadn't even considered which we now love. She also came up with the fantastic Idea of double 6 foot sliders looking out the back of our properly. Way cheaper than a massive foldout door you see on home shows. There are just so many details you don't think about but Amanda had them all covered. Build: We were difficult customers. We are picky and we made a lot of changes. We also had some bad luck incidents. Steve our project manager was great. He rolled with the punches and we came to compromises and agreements on every issue. Of course we were stressed because we were living in our basement for three months but none of that stress came from Castle. The Castle carpenters were all super friendly and did really solid work. The plumbing, HVAC, and electrical contractors were all top notch. They even recommend a metal company to fabricate our steel stair railing who we worked with outside the main project. Really they did everything they could to make this project work within our budget. ( except for our additional change orders which were all reasonable priced) Finally, the project was done on time. Finished Product: We absolutely love the finished product. We couldn't be happier and we can now stay in our house for as long as we live. We have had several parties since the remodel and everyone loves it. I have a hard time leaving for work every day since I really just want to sip coffee in our kitchen, while leaning over our beautiful Cambria counter tops and look out the big sliding doors and window into our backyard. Thank you Castle!

We were so pleased with the work Castle did remodeling our first floor in 2016, that we contacted them for our unfinished basement remodeling project. Mark, our designer, spent a lot of time with us on the design, answering lots of questions, and helping us to use the space effectively, We were able to get a family room, laundry room, half bath, a large shop area, and plenty of storage. Castle was great to work with from start to finish. Both projects were completed on time, with excellent quality. Their project management staff were responsive to any concerns or changes we had during the project and we are very pleased with the results. I would definitely contact Castle again if we had future remodeling projects!

Castle was great to work with. The design turned out well, and they were very responsive when I had questions or changed my mind regarding the design. For the construction, they did some of the work, and I did other parts, and they were great about answering my questions about things I had never done before (like tiling). Very nice people, and very good workers.

Castle did our kitchen remodeling. From start to finish they were always courteous and very tidy. It was the first construction project (out of 6 major projects) that we did not have any problems or disappointments. They may cost slightly higher than others, but so well worth it.

We had a very positive experience with Castle Builders. From the initial meeting with Mark to the final punch list with Dave, everything went pretty much as planned. We were given a schedule of what was likely to happen and when, and with one small exception, the project proceeded as planned. The one small exception was a flip in when the painting occurred with trim work. Which did not change the timeline. The final remodel is more than what we had hoped for and is stunningly beautiful! The professionalism exhibited by everyone involved was superb. And all of the trades people were exceptionally friendly and courteous and everyone cleaned up after their days work was done. We would highly recommend Castle Builders.

Especially their ability to match and recreate the woodwork, trim, and flooring of our 1899 year old home; pleasant and respectful workers, designers’ creativity, organization and coordination of project scheduling.

Castle Building & Remodeling corrected a moisture problem on our sun porch. All work was completed on a timely basis and to our satisfaction. They have the expertise and professionals to complete projects thoroughly and to the customers satisfaction.

Castle did a great job remodeling our kitchen! They were very professional and efficient. Emily, our designer, spent a lot of time with us to really get a feel of what we were looking for. She was very knowledgeable of the options we had available and offered lots of great suggestions. Emily was very patient with all our questions, we never felt pressured to make any decisions that we weren't comfortable with. Larry, our project manager, provided us with an outline of the overall work and gave weekly updates. He was very responsive to questions, often answering them in a matter of minutes. When the inevitable hiccups that come with a large project occurred, Larry dealt with it quickly and checked in to make sure we were happy with the result. Overall, the project finished ahead of schedule and right on budget... and our kitchen is amazing! I would highly recommend Castle!

Castle Bldg. & Remodeling has very successfully completed three projects for me over the past 18 months. The projects have varied in complexity from installing two replacement entry doors on my house, repairing the cedar siding on my garage, rebuilding a cedar entry landing, and the complete remodeling of my bathroom. All projects were completed on schedule and within the quoted cost estimates. Castle’s personnel from their in-house crew to their subcontractors were very skilled, professional, and courteous throughout the projects. I will definitely contract with Castle for future remodeling projects and have recommended Castle to friends.

Everyone connected with laying marmoleum in my kitchen was efficient, personable, and totally respectful of my space. And the people who sold me the marmoleum were similarly helpful, letting me take home any samples I felt might work, going to extra efforts to get me onto your busy schedules, and keeping in touch all along the way. I would recommend Castle for anyone thinking of a remodeling project in their home.

We had an excellent experience with Castle, from the initial meeting to final completion. We had a total kitchen remodel completed in our 1930 home that included an 18 sq. ft addition. The designers were experienced with old homes and developed options that met all of our goals. They were very willing to price out different options and very transparent with pricing so we could make wise decisions based on our values. They never tried to push us to in a direction we were not comfortable going, but were not shy to offer suggestions based on their extensive knowledge, many of which we used. We enjoyed the use of their in-house interior designer to help narrow our choices and give us confidence in making decisions. The construction process was smooth with good communication. There were a couple of minor hiccups, as there is with any remodeling project, but Castle handled the issues with calm professionalism and we were satisfied with the outcomes. We have and will hire them again.

We had a very good experience with Castle. What initially drew us to them was there very transparent project mgmt and pricing information on the website. It was great to see all of the details spelled out. Their design folks were very helpful as we set up the project, readily available and balancing their own suggestions with the preferences we brought to the table. Our initial design person left about midway through, which was a bit of a bummer, but the fill-in worked out fine. The project site manager (Aaron) was highly professional and responsive. He keeps things moving well and smoothly and kept us up to date. The quality of the work was quite high. We have followed up a couple of times since with a few small odds and ends, which they have addressed promptly and well. We're now thinking about another, smaller project, and we anticipate going straight to Castle for the work.

The kitchen project included new countertops, backsplash, sink/faucet and lighting, including undercounter and overhead lights. Project manager did great job of coordinating and keeping us informed of timelines. Minor issues that arose were quickly resolved. Overall we were very happy with the process and love our refreshed kitchen.

We were quite pleased with steady communication over a big project that involved many subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, ac, cabinets, floors, framing, tile, painting, etc. Stayed on time and on budget.

Great company to work with from start to finish. On time, minimal disruption of rest of the house on my bathroom remodel in a 1923 home. Amanda did a great job with the design along with Steve as the project manager and all others I met along the process were very professional with prompt responses to questions/concerns. Would highly recommend and likely use them again.

Attached garage converted into Bathroom and Office. It's an 1870 Victorian home so we wanted the project to mimic the current style of the home. the project went well. Minor issues came up, but Castle Addressed them quickly. Their communication was very good.

IN THE FALL OF 2015, I HIRED CASTLE BUILDING & REMODELING TO CONVERT A PREVIOUS KITCHEN SPACE INTO A 3/4 BATH & LAUNDRY. I HAVE A VICTORIAN STYLE HOME AND THERE ARE ALWAYS SURPRISES WHEN EXPOSING WALLS & CEILINGS IN HOMES SUCH AS THESE. THERE WERE A COUPLE SURPRISES WHICH WERE ADDRESSED BUT THAT DID NOT HALT OR HINDER THE PROJECT IN STAYING ON TASK. EVERYONE FROM DESIGNERS TO PAINTERS DID A REMARKABLE JOB. THE USE OF MY NEWLY REMODELED SPACE IS SO MUCH MORE EFFICIENT AND AN EFFECTIVE USE OF SPACE THAN IT EVER WAS AS A KITCHEN! ANYONE THAT HAS SEEN THE SPACE BEFORE GAZE IN AWE AT THE TRANSFORMATION. BY THE WAY, CASTLE BUILDING & REMODELING TURNED AN INEFFECTIVE USE OF SPACE OFF OF MY DINING ROOM INTO A NEWLY REMODELED KITCHEN A FEW YEARS AGO. IT IS 100% FABULOUS! From beginning to end, what a great experience working with Castle Building & Remodeling. Castle helped us design the project (and were patient with us as we got things finalized), told us what it would cost, and told us how long it would take. On the last two counts friends have been taken aback that the project was completed on time and on budget. What a great experience for us on our first remodel project. The project included a remodel of our basement (adding a rec space, a new bedroom with egress window, and a three-quarter bath). Renovation of the main-level powder room, new tile flooring, and removal of a wall to open up the space between the kitchen and family room, including refacing a wall with stone, built-in shelving, new fireplace, and new patio door. Throughout the project, it was the Castle team, their great communication, and their trade-partners that made this such a smooth and positive experience. From in-house designer, to in-house crew, to trade partners, and especially our project manager, what a great team.

I recently completed an attic/master suite remodel with Castle. I chose them even though they were not the lowest bid, based on the quality of work I had seen them do on other properties and the level of attention they paid to even giving a bid. The project manager we worked with was very responsive and communicative throughout. It is inevitable in a remodel (particularly an old house remodel) that issues will arise -- and they did. Castle communicated with me promptly and covered the costs with no argument when it was their responsibility. I have had a minor fix needed since they left, and they responded quickly to address it. Castle was worth every penny and I would hire them again in a second.

Castle was fantastic to work with through the entire design and construction process. The were very detailed in their planning, made excellent design suggestions, and provide great communication on the progress being made during construction. I'm thrilled with the remodel results! I would highly recommend them and would work with them again for any future construction needs.

We were extremely pleased with the results of our second floor remodel project. Castle's design and project management staff were always quick and responsive communicators, especially when encountering surprises in our 100 year old home. Scheduling was a priority for Castle, planned out carefully in advance of starting and adhered to throughout our 12 week project. We will definitely use Castle for future home projects.

From start to finish Castle helped us do the project that we envisioned with professional insight, scheduled dates and clean up. We were very happy with Castle builders. Amy was great with helping us make the designs to fit our needs.

We hired Castle Bri to do a small remodel on our kitchen, with a total cost of around $17,000. They did a great job. Their staff was responsive and friendly, including all of the Castle employees who came to the house to do work. We are happy with the finished product and feel that we hired the right company.

We hired Castle after getting similar bids from several other contractors. They helped us understand the scope of our full kitchen remodel and the hidden costs involved in adding on, working with us to save money by staying within our existing structure. Throughout the process they were willing and able to give us advice and suggestions when we needed them, but listened carefully to our wants and needs at each step. Although much of the work was done by subcontractors, I was consistently impressed with the quality of work by each trade AND it was readily apparent that Castle had done a great job of communicating with each of the people who had a hand in the project. Were there any hiccups? Of course. Materials were late or workers were busy on other projects, but that happens with any months-long project of this scope. The most annoying factor was sheet flooring that came up 4 inches short for the space and other measurements that resulted in unwanted (but well fixed) patches. When any concerns arose, they were quick to address them to our satisfaction. Before the project was complete, we were impressed enough to have Castle provide an exclusive bid (and ultimately all services on) an additional project rehabbing our bathroom shower area. Castle has helped our starter home become one that we will be happy to stay in for a very long time, but if any other major projects should arise, we won't hesitate to call them first.

From meeting with our designer to the final walk through, Castle Building and Remodeling surpassed our expectations. Every employee showed complete professionalism when in our home and quality craftsmanship. Our kitchen remodel turned out to be the beautiful room we dreamed of thanks to the design work of Courtney, the woodwork of Steve and the project management of Dave. We highly recommend Castle to everyone!

This is a difficult review for me. I haven't had any experience using any other remodelers so I don't have anything to compare them to. We updated our 1980's style kitchen and tore out a wall in between the dining room and living room and put in a 3 sided gas fireplace. We had a custom center island with butcher block and other nice personal touches including local handmade tile. Pros: 1) We are thrilled with the outcome of our kitchen and addition of a fireplace. It looks phenomenal, and our friends and family love it too! 2) Castle was great at communicating with us. When they said they would do something, they did it. They respond to emails quickly and kept us informed throughout the entire process. When we had issues, it was taken care of right away. 3) They use local products when it makes sense - pretty cool!! Cons: 1) There were hiccups along the way, things weren't measured correctly or ordered on time, causing some delays. When it was all said and done, they finished during the time frame that was promised, we just would have liked it if things didn't have to be remeasured. 2) It costs a lot of money, again, I can't compare this to other companies, but it is expensive. For the quality of work, I would say it is a good value, and you get peace of mind with the way they communicate. Things to keep in mind if you go with Castle: 1) From when you start the design phase of the project to completion is a long time. They spend a lot of time on the design phase to ensure you get what you want, and to not have changes during the actual remodel. 2) There are numerous designers at Castle, so if you get a designer that you think doesn't mesh with your personality or design style, ask for another one.

From start to finish, our kitchen remodeling experience with Castle Building & Remodeling was fabulous! We have a small, South Minneapolis home that had a tiny, cramped kitchen and dining space. Our designer, Amy, listened closely to our wishes and needs and created a design that perfectly addressed our issues and incorporated many features we didn't think were even possible! Throughout the entire process, communication was clear, fast, & up to date. Bill, our project manager, was great about keeping us informed throughout the entire construction phase. Everyone working on the project was friendly and respectful. We couldn't be happier about our experience with Castle. They gave us an amazing space that has totally changed how we use our kitchen. We don't know how we functioned before!

Great experience from top to bottom. We got a Groupon for an attic design. My wife and I wanted to increase the sq footage living space in the house. Troy came over, listened to us, and helped us come up with an idea of what to do in the attic. He made any adjustments we needed to. We talked to him about wanting to do some work ourselves and they helped us figure out what we could do. Then Courtney helped us get materials and finalize the project and helped us get the project within the budget we wanted. Bill the project manager was amazing to work with. Could not say enough about how great he was to us. He was always keeping us up to date on things and helping us with ideas for items while on the project. Only thing we weren't happy with is not by the fault of the Castle group was the plumber had to make some changes to running pipes and placing vent in the new bathroom and did consult anyone to on the changes just made the changes. I would recommend them for remodeling jobs and I would use them again.

While our kitchen remodel project was smaller in scope, Castle never treated us as any "small job" nor designed more than we asked for. Castle was timely, very easy and pleasant to work with. We were able to do the demo work which allowed us cost savings. As Elizabeth Bland completed her final inspection, we were having difficulty in installing the faucet we selected. She contacted Scott, and he called us within a half hour to help resolve the problem! We were very pleased with the outcome. Highly recommend.

Everything came together very well. Our project manager and his attention to detail was impressive. We are very pleased with our newly remodeled kitchen.

Project: master bath and kids bath remodel, completed at same time. The best thing about Castle is having the design staff integrated into the project right from the beginning. If you don't have a strong vision of what you want or just don't have a lot of time, having a designer tease out your preferences, gather samples, and help carry the vision all the way through the construction process is incredibly valuable. The design staff and construction staff were all very professional, respectful, and easy to work with. When we did have an issue, they were quick to resolve the problem. They cleaned up really very well every night given we had two projects going at the same time. Also, they are very careful with the original cost projections so final cost was near the original quote, no big surprises or overages. The project did extend just slightly longer than expected, but overall we would highly recommend Castle and are very happy with the end results!

I could write a lot, but the bottom line: 1 - are we happy with the final result? Yes. 2 - would we hire them again? Yes. We're actually in the process of starting another project with them.

Katie is a very talented and knowledgeable designer and was a pleasure to work with. Everyone else I dealt with at Castle was also very professional and pleasant. Their bid was lower than their competitors' and they did the work completely on budget and completely on time. I'll use them next time, and I recommend them to everyone.
