They did an excellent job. Christie and Larry are personable and easy to work with. I had worked with Christy and Larry previously on a simple bathroom remodel and was impressed with their knowledge, skill and professionalism. This time we decided to gut and reconstruct the master bath in a "rustic elegant" theme. My partner and I worked with Christy on the design for a kitchen remodel. Even though we are in Merced (over an hour from where she is located in Oakhurst), she made multiple trips to our home and gave us a great deal of one-on-one attention. Our kitchen proved to be a challenging design project given the small size and awkward layout, but after drafting 9 (!!) options, she came up with a design that was perfect for our space. She was very transparent and responsive throughout the process, and are looking forward to the final result! Christy and Larry are a pleasure to work with, very hard-working, and creative. Christy and Larry make a fantastic team, as is evident in the quality of their work and their reputation in the area. We hired Custom Design Construction to remodel our kitchen. They are professional & easy to work with. The design phase took us awhile to complete. We had a small budget, by kitchen remodel standards, so it took awhile to achieve what we wanted within that budget. Christy was great at suggesting design ideas that would improve our look but not stretch our budget. The construction went very smoothly and on schedule. They did a very professional job. We are very pleased & would recommend them highly.

This was our first time for working with a contractor, and doing a somewhat major project. We chose Christine and Larry, because of high recommendations from several of our friends who had projects done by them. We spent time with Christine discussing our desires, and she provided excellent suggestions and explanations of details and solutions. Once our bathroom project started, our old bathroom & floor was completely demolished and renovated. The final completion of our new bathroom is amazing, and actually gives more room to the space, due to great design. We appreciated the response to phone questions, and periodic visits during renovation, to check progress. They resolved all problems, and were always available for questions and input from us. All was completed in a professional, clean, and timely manner. The final bill was just as projected in the estimate.

This is the 4th project that Christie and Custom Designs has done for me. Doesn't that say it all? This time, it is a kitchen remodel where we gutted the old original kitchen that was about 19 years old and put in a new one. Knotty alder cabinets, quartz countertops, ss appliances and sink, with tile flooring and backsplash. Christie's eye for design and color has always assured me that the project will turn out fantastic. They wrap the projects, helping keep down the dust and traffic in the house. The bids are accurate and the timing is always on target. Christie does an amazing job of finding out what I need and what I am wanting to achieve before coming up with her designs and she makes that happen. This is our second project with Christine and Larry. The first was our kitchen and master bath. The recent one was a guest bathroom. I had my own ideas of what I wanted in both projects and Christine had excellent suggestions which we usually went with. Christine and Larry are awesome people. They are very easy to work with and professional in every way. We are very happy with the job they did and would highly recommend them.

In the fall of 2013 we decided to have our kitchen remodeled. We had received two estimates, one very high, and another unrealistically low. While we were at a local granite supplier looking at granite choices the granite supplier recommended Christine Smith of Designs By Christine and her husband Larry Smith of Custom Design Construction. We contacted Christine Smith and she designed a kitchen layout to our wants and provided working drawings that we could have her husband Larry work off of or we could take anywhere else if we wanted. The plans were similar to the other plans we had received, but had much nicer details than the others. Many small things that made real nice design improvements. Things like offsetting a cabinet here or there, adding a piece of molding, or a trim panel on the side of the refrigerator. Doesn't sound like much until you see it on the 3-D plans, or in the completed kitchen, but it made a big difference in appearance with minimal difference in cost. We decided to have Larry's company Custom Design Construction do the kitchen remodel. They provided us with a complete construction schedule and time line estimate and stuck to it for the most part. There were a few small delays here or there but we were kept informed of the status throughout the job. All of Larry's employees and subcontractors were very professional and were a pleasure to have in out house during the job. This was a floor to ceiling remodel that took about one and a half months from start to finish. We went from a dated 1990's golden oak kitchen to a new timeless and functional show kitchen. Everyone we have shown it to just raves about it and many have asked who did the job. We gladly tell them about Christine and Larry and highly recommend them. My brother and his wife have even recommended them to one of their neighbors.

My bath project turned out amazing! I was willing to supply the extra "grace" that may have been needed to get through the project. But to my great surprise the "grace" was provided to me by Custom Designs, when I screwed up a door and they had to do extra work to fix it! I would not ever think to use anyone else when doing home remodels. Everything was on time as planned and is still a delight to see!

I am happy to recommend Christine Smith (Designs by Christine). She and Larry have designed and executed several major projects for my current and previous homes. Everything from design concepts to execution of the plans has been handled with imagination and thorough attention to details. The results of the several significant projects Christine and Larry have handled for me have met and exceeded my expectations. I continue to bask in the favorable comments from my friends. Christy and Larry were project managers on the construction of our home in 2010-2011. We found them to be highly competent, professional, and ethical. They are very knowledgeable about local resources and were able to negotiate excellent prices for such items as counters and flooring. They are our first choice for additional projects on our home. We were extremely pleased with the kitchen remodel to our ranch house by Custom Design of Oakhurst, Ca. Christine Smith was very helpful with the design ideas and recommendations for all aspects of the remodel. All the work from plumbing, to carpentry, to electrical, to installation was done professionally and quickly. Living in a rural area, it was a great convenience to be able to go to one store to find and order everything we needed to remodel our kitchen, including cabinetry, sink, appliances, faucet, counter tops, and tile. I also appreciated that a minor issue afterwards with grout was dealt with quickly. Although it has been more than 4 years since the remodel, the kitchen still looks great and I love using it.

Christy has done 3 extensive jobs for me. The First a total kitchen remodel. Then we had a flooded house where the whole house was stripped and put back together including the kitchen and bathrooms. Now in our current home they stripped out the old kitchen and designed an new one for us. The Kitchen is spectacular, extremely functional. It is the main room in our house and has added enormous value to our home. My Wife loves the kitchen. Christy and Larry did a quality job on time as expected. They were completely priced and thoroughly knew the business. They are great people and very easy to work with. Now we are working on remodeling a master bathroom, our 4th project with them.
