“Right Arm took an original 1924 bungalow, where nothing had been touched since 1924, and beautifully restored and renovated it into a gorgeous, energy efficient, dream bungalow. The project management from Arent and Kenny over the past 8 months was top tier and made the experience as a client an absolute dream. I had no clue what I signed up for with this project, as many new homeowners do, which is why you hire people that do know what they are doing. Arent is who you hire. Not only did he help us understand, with our incredible designer, the importance of core structural work (insulating walls, new windows, energy efficient furnace, updated electrical) he also effortlessly built out a dormer, put a new beam in (and it’s a big boy), with new roof and bathroom upstairs. While also restoring the original bathroom in the home with the original tile and tub, ripping out and building a state of the art kitchen and butlers pantry, AND reconstructing a sunroom from the ground up, AND opening up my entire first floor by knocking down a half wall and building a gorgeous stair railing, AND overseeing floor installation and refinishing. Wait there’s more! Arent, Kenny and his crew also repoured my porch, put new columns on my porch, built the most beautiful set of wood steps in the back, framed out and earthquake strapped my entire basement so we can finish it, and redid the steps in my basement. AND I probably forgot something. I essentially have a brand new home. In 8 months. Incredible. This was and is a 1924 bungalow, which was my top concern, Arent made sure to wrap the new upstairs beam in the old growth Doug fir from the attic, and went to great lengths to keep the original built ins in the downstairs bath even though he needed to put a beam where the mirror currently sits. Anything original he could save he did, but he also made sure to steer us toward current options if they were needed. Any delays in the project were clearly communicated and handled beautifully. When they had to dig a trench in the basement to fortify the new dormer, and it was no big deal, even through I’m sure it was a very big deal to reconfigure the 10 ring circus of subcontractors to account for the delay. Look at the photos! That’s really all that needs to be said. Houzz will only let me add 5 but I have captured the whole project @thesunbungalow on instagram. Lastly, I’ve been in my home for a month and this is quality work, the devil is in the details and they didn’t miss a thing. There was no laundry list of “come back and fix this.” I would 80000% vouch for and work with Arent and his team again. Lastly some feedback from my neighbors (and I live on a narrow street): Arent is a pro, respected quiet hours and kept a clean job site. Was highly responsive and they can’t believe they did all this work in just 8 months. Even the fork lifts coming in was done in a way that was not distributive to the street.”
