Le projet démarra avec une visite à la très compétente décoratrice intérieure Kelly Ouellet qui nous donna de très bons conseils sur les matériaux à utiliser pour la rénovation de notre salle de bain des maîtres vieille de 32 ans. Bien que ce soit un projet compliqué, nous avons réussi à tout sélectionner dans environ 60 minutes. Un contrat fut signé et les travaux ont débuté le 12 janvier 2022 pour se terminer le 17 février. Il y a eu pas moins de 6 corps de métier pour effectuer les divers travaux sous la direction de Dominic Manzo. Tout s'est bien déroulé malgré la pandémie et le besoin de remplacer une base de douche, mais qui était difficile à trouver car elle a une forme peu commune. We initially contacted DBK after being referred by friends that used this company for some of their recent kitchen renovations. We initially wanted minor renovations in our kitchen and was referred to designer Anna Dykstra. Anna was very honest, patient and professional with us and presented several options for us to consider. We were having difficulty matching our existing maple cupboards with new modern looking ones we wanted to add, so in the end we decided on a complete kitchen gut (decided to give my older cabinets/ cupboards to my brother for his remodelled kitchen). Anna came up with an absolutely ingenious reconfigured layout that allowed us to use the space in a much more efficient manner. She made suggestions that we never thought of and now we are so happy with these additions that were incorporated in our final design. Although the cost was obviously much more than initially anticipated, we have absolutely no regret with any decisions made. Now shifting to the actual labourers that performed the actual work, if you’re looking for a turn key solution where every detail is taken care of, well DBK is the way to go. The lead labourer Michel was an absolute Godsend! He not only coordinated and oversaw all labourers and tasks of this five week project, he treated our home with respect as if it was his own. With any major projects of this nature, some issues did arise, but Michel ensured every detail was completed to our 100% satisfaction. The one “negative” comment we can make is that we undertook this major project during COVID, which obviously caused some delays to get the job started with provincial shutdowns. We also ran into supply chain issues/ delays when a couple cabinet doors had to be reordered. These delays were obviously out of DBK’ S control as it took the supplier several months to get us the new doors. Some clients may rate DBK lower because of some of these delays, but Anna even confirmed that with the increased demand for products (as everyone is doing renovations), it was very difficult to get reordered items in a timely manner. The delays didn’t cause us to not be able to fully utilize our kitchen, so we had no issues with these unforeseen delays. In summary, if you’re looking for modern and professional work done in your home at a reasonable cost (you pay for quality material and workmanship; if you want cheap, go visit IKEA) and minimal stress, contact DBK. Our designer Anna wanted to see the finished product and stopped by just before Christmas, bringing us a beautiful basket of “goodies”. I was very touched by her gesture, especially after my Mom had recently passed away in early December. Poor customer service. They are definitely benefiting from Covid and taking advantage of consumers and just moving from one project to another before properly finishing up past work. Had to get another company to take care of remaining issues after being told it was not DBK’s problem anymore.

We approached Distinctive to do major renovations on our 30 year old home: expand the ensuite, gut the main bath and powder room, removing a structural wall on the main floor to re-imagine the kitchen, update the fireplace, and replace the flooring through most of the house. As newbies, we wanted someone that could handle the project from end-to-end, provide guidance on the form and function of design elements, and ensure that everything was done to code. Distinctive shone in all elements. Working with Vida on the design and planning was a treat. She encouraged us to consider things we wouldn't have thought of and we are so happy we listened! The plans and cost estimates were detailed and transparent. Sheilagh kept us updated on when work would be done and how long it would take. When COVID hit in the middle of our renovation, Sheilagh was able to coordinate temporary fixtures and expedite critical work so we wouldn't be stuck without a place to live. All of the workers were friendly, professional, and experienced. The foreman Brian had an incredible eye for detail and high standards. We were always happy with the work done and Brian made sure of that. Dominic (the general manager) handled the couple problems that cropped up very well, with great communication, and entirely to our satisfaction. Billing and payment options were very flexible, and Veronic made settling up the invoices effortless. I unreservedly recommend Distinctive.

July 29, 2020 From start to finish our experience was amazing with DBK. Shanna was wonderful, kind and patient with us through the entire design phase. We were so happy she was there to guide us through the process. She was able to take our ideas for this new bathroom and make them reality. We are so thankful she was there to help with material selection, it turned out even better than we expected! Sheilagh the project manager was awesome. Very efficient and organized, we always knew what work was being done each day, we really appreciated her daily schedule updates. She certainly took the stress off our shoulders. The DBK crew... Well we can’t say enough about them, they are truly professionals. The crew was extremely respectful, punctual and highly skilled. Their workmanship is just stunning, we can’t be more pleased with the results. They were a great team of people doing amazing work. We LOVE our new bathroom. We have had 3 complete bathroom renovations designed by Emily Meechan. We found her to be very professional and approachable. She listened to our preferences and was also very proficient at helping us to visualize her design. Our latest project was our master bedroom and ensuite . We are so thrilled with the whole project. The ensuite is very luxurious . We highly recommend Emily as a designer.

We recently had a small bar area and our pantry redone by Distinctive Bathrooms and Kitchens. We spent time with Julianna, our designer, who listened to what we were thinking of doing, and gave us above and beyond what I hoped we would get. The entire staff was wonderful! From our wonderful designer, to the carpenters and the contractors. Exceeded our expectations, and we will absolutely hire them again. Can’t recommend this company enough.

My husband and I embarked on a kitchen renovation project which consisted of a complete gut job of our current kitchen and a re-model. It’s a project that we had been talking about for a while but it was so overwhelming to me and I just had no idea where to start. So, my husband kindly started doing some research and looked into reviews of various renovation companies and the glowing reviews for Distinctive Bathrooms and Kitchens (DBK) is what lead us to them and we are so pleased that it did. Our designer, Julianna Dykstra, was a saviour for us and made what is generally an overwhelming experience, much easier to cope and deal with. It was actually enjoyable! She respected our budget and made sure that any recommendations she made for products were well balanced in terms of price point and style. She was always super quick to respond to any of our enquiries and her suggestions were always very insightful. It didn’t matter what our question was about, she was able to lead us in the right direction, whether it came to appliances, kitchen stools, pendant lights, paint and anything else! There are so many things to consider with a kitchen, many of them that I didn’t even know about, and Julianna was able to open our eyes to the many possibilities. Some of our favourite features in our new kitchen are a result of Julianna’s thoughtful recommendation (recycle center, spice pull-out, in/under cabinet lighting and the list could go on!). She was invaluable and certainly helped alleviate any concerns that we had throughout the way. The project itself was actually better than we had anticipated. Of course, it wasn’t a walk in the park having been without a kitchen for about a month, but we managed quite well which was impressive as we are a family of four with 2 young kids. Fortunately, DBK had everything scheduled to a tee which meant little to no delays. Michel, who was the main installer, was so meticulous and thorough. We definitely appreciated having him on the job. He was friendly and efficient and was clearly focused on ensuring our satisfaction with the end results. Dan, who was responsible for all of our tile work (flooring, backsplash) was fast and friendly as well. All of the people that worked on the project were kind and competent. It’s obvious that DBK has hired a good set of specialists to work for them. We would highly recommend hiring Distinctive Bathrooms and Kitchens for your next renovation project. They strive to make their customers happy and the quality of their products and craftsmanship will certainly make you happy with the end results. From Design to demolition and disposal, to the install and final touch-ups, we highly recommend Designer Julianna Dykstra and the highly skilled tradesmen at DBK for your reno! Julianna Dykstra is a friendly, courteous and very experienced interior designer. She was very attentive to our needs and budget, so patient and helpful with choices of material and very well organized from the measurement of the ensuite bathroom to finalizing the design (attention to details!). Even after the contract was signed and the installers engaged, Julianna checked in with us from time to time to understand how the reno was progressing and our satisfaction. Kim and the entire DBK Specialists/Installation crew were very professional, friendly, courteous and respectful of us and our home, kept to the schedule and provided quality workmanship. When a few changes were required to the plan due to a couple of unexpected problems, Kim was quick to help us understand these and seek our approval on possible options to address before moving on. We appreciated that all DBK materials and work are backed by a 2 year warranty. As with every DBK project, a coordinator was assigned to our reno, Sheila laid out the timeline, called us at the end of each work day to discuss the work completed, our satisfaction, what's ahead, when & by whom. This allowed us to easily plan our regular day to day activities. Relative to other renos, this one was stress-free! Our Family and friends who were familiar with our existing 30 year old ensuite bathroom, were absolutely amazed at the new look and design. Our new space is so bright. We just had our kitchen remodeled by DBK and are very pleased with the outcome! Our designer, Julianna was very professional, helpful and patient with us. Once the project started, with Michael leading the way everything ran smoothly and on time. All the workers were very professional, very respectful on entering our home, great job guys!! We really like the way Sheilagh would call everyday to let us know what was happening the next day! Our kitchen is finished and we love it. Distinctive Bathrooms and Kitchens transformed our 1980’s kitchen into our dream kitchen. Julianna’s fantastic design and on site lead Michel were so great to work with. We took down a load bearing wall and opened it up to an open concept kitchen family room. Workers were on time, respectful, cleaned up each day and very so good to work with. We would recommend them to anyone.

I recently did a total kitchen, dining, and living room renovation on my 35-year-old house. My designer, Julianna, created an amazing open concept layout that was not only visually stunning but functional as well. She presented me with various layout plans and provided numerous options for materials to select from. Julianna gave me great feedback on elements that I wanted incorporated in the design and devoted a tremendous amount of time with this renovation. I’m very grateful to her for her patience, dedication and professionalism. Distinctive did an outstanding job as they were on budget and on time. The talented crew led by Kim were very professional and polite. They did quality work, always cleaned up and were on time each day. During the renovation Sheilagh called daily to give me a progress report and to inform me of the next steps. Distinctive also coordinated the other trades that I had contracted for the stairs and gas fireplace. Renovations can be stressful but Distinctive managed to make this a positive and enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend Distinctive to anyone that’s looking to renovate their house.
