Hindsight is 20/20 as they say, and looking back now there were some red flags that we initially ignored in our excitement about the project. What felt like customization at the beginning, upon reviewing their social media posts and seeing our finished product, is just clearly a copy/paste of their preferred template that they use on most clients. Some of our preferences and areas of focus were ignored, or we were told that it could not be changed from what they had selected for us. The dedicated and customer-focused attitude we saw during the initial sales pitch vanished the moment the project required real accountability. Sebastian's refusal to take responsibility for material defects and property damage, as the owner and general manager, turned what should have been an exciting renovation into a deeply disappointing experience. It is impossible to view this through "rose-colored glasses" when we paid full price for a professional service, yet were met with constant deflections and unprofessionalism when issues arose. While the company simply moves on to their next project, our daily lives remain impacted by their lack of follow-through for months. For the incredibly high price point in using this design company compared to other local contractors, we expected a much better overall experience. It is now May 8, 2026 and we are still without a functional oven in our brand new, paid in full kitchen, and dealing directly with the appliance supplier ourselves to get it resolved. Our contracted end date was March 6, we are now over two months past that date.

Working with Hernz Home Improvements was a great experience as a first-time renovator, their service and work was exceptional and I’d gladly use their services again. I used their full service (end-to-end management) for a Master Bath and Powder Room remodel and their team took the time to ensure that all of my requests were addressed thoroughly and with care. As someone that has never gone through this experience, not only did the use of their end-to-end management help relieve the stress of managing the details, their system gave me great comfort in knowing that I’ve entrusted this process with great professionals. Sebastian was extremely thorough in explaining their work, addressing my needs in preparation for my renovation project. The helpful education of the overall process and the capabilities of his team, helped me to determine the best approach for my project. Working with Jess to develop a design and bring my ideas to life made a tremendous difference with this project. I would have never had the time nor would I have considered the details to plan my wants and needs (tiles, paint, lighting, etc.). In addition to Sebastian and Jess getting me started with the project, Ignacio and his team were able to really add the finishing touches with the work done. It was a pleasure working with their team, they delivered such great results. I cannot express enough how well planned, considerate and thoughtful this team was and their quality of work simply matches their work practices. Again, if you are considering using their services, I’d recommend letting them assist you in full. If I am ever in the need for a renovation, I will be more than happy to use them again and encourage anyone seeking this work to give them a call.

The Hernz team did an amazing job from start to finish with our bathroom renovation project. It can be stressful and overwhelming choosing a contractor and renovation choices, but Sebastian and his team did everything to make the process as relaxing as possible. From the first estimate, job site inspection, design choices and finalizing the scope, everything was done with care, professionalism and with efficiency. The final scope was within the original cost estimate. Jessenia did an amazing job with helping us select the tile, finishes and accessories for our bathroom, we only made very minimal tweaks for personal preference and budget. The construction crews were hard working and passionate about every detail. Ignacio is an excellent program manager, kept us in the loop with every step, what work would be done on what day. Not only do we have a beautiful new bathroom that is both functional and luxurious, but it was constructed within the scheduled time and within the cost of the contract, with no cost surprises or delays. If I could envision how I would want a major renovation project to go, they executed to that or better. We hope to be able to complete more home projects in the future and will most definitely be going with Hernz again.

Hire this Company! Hiring Hernz Home Improvements to do a complete basement remodel was the best decision; zero regrets! After interviewing a couple other potential contractors, Sebastian was a breath of fresh air. Upon our first meeting he arrived very professional, honest, and most importantly, he listened; providing experienced opinions, but never overriding our wants (as we had experienced with other interviews). Hernz is a one stop shop as they have kitchen cabinet experts, as well as an architect to assist with design. Before we signed or paid a single penny, we were visited 3 times by the team to put together renderings. Once the project started it was like clockwork. The team started by assisting to move some heavy gym equipment out of the way and then continued to show up every day installing the framing, electrical and plumbing. Hernz arranged all the town permit applications and inspections. It's important to note, that because we have a septic system, we were initially advised that we could not put a bathroom in our basement. Sebastian was very patient with us as we had to apply for additional permits from the State of NJ. Although this pushed the completion timeline back, we never felt pressured to move forward without the permits or skip the bathroom all together. Picking finishing materials can be a bit overwhelming for a full basement remodel; what type of floor, trim, doors, cabinets, bathroom tile, etc.? Hernz made this part easy by providing a list of experienced vendors. Apart from the open space with kitchenette and half bath, we also have a large enclosed gym, an office and plenty of unfinished storage. You will have no regrets hiring Hernz Home Improvements; I look forward to our next project with them. Although the entire team was excellent, I want to give a special shout out to Luis, Juan and Ignacio who really perfected the final project with their meticulous attention to detail. We chose Hernz Home Improvements for our bathroom remodel as well as flooring in the hallways/foyer and could not be happier with our decision. We had interviewed about 8 other companies in the area and all promised to do the job quicker & some cheaper — however — this was a great representation of ‘you get what you pay for’. Had we went with any of these other companies our job would for sure have been rushed, not done in a way that we would have longevity out of it and none of them agreed to pull the necessary permits needed for the project which our township required. Sebastian knew the importance of doing the project both professionally as well as ethically and we knew that we were in good hands with him & his team. Working with a company who has integrity & is honest is just as important as someone who does great work. Our bathroom needed to go down to the studs & be completely re-done. Sebastian, Gilberto, Ignacio and the entire team were amazing. Every day they arrived on time (early), prepped the area and cleaned when they were finished. Especially with our dog in the home we were concerned about nails etc and they were sure to clean up everything each day. They sent a list of the items we needed to purchase and connected us with General Plumbing Supply for the plumbing fixtures as well as Nefliz Glass Doors for the shower doors. We worked with the Tile Shop for the tile and were happy we went with their recommended professionals. Sebastian & Gilberto would check in daily on the project to be sure it was what we expected & if we requested any changes they made sure to have it all done within 24hrs with no stress on us at all. They even made it so we didn’t have to get a hotel room while the floors were done and created wooden walk ways over the area for us! Our bathroom is now stunning and a room of the home we appreciate rather than despise (the before was SO bad…not only was it outdated, but it also had a mold issue). We look forward to using Hernz Home Improvements again for future projects!

Hernz Home improvements did an excellent job on our bathroom which is beautiful as well as functional. They started on time and completed two days early.
