Jeff Veglia Remodeling & Tile Contracting

Jeff and his team remodeled two of our bathrooms. He was incredibly knowledgeable, reliable and professional. He and his team were hard-working, skilled and great at problem solving when needed. We are so happy with our new bathrooms and would absolutely work with Jeff again.

Our 1920’s home is 3,200 square feet and required significant renovations to meet our modern lifestyle. My wife and I are in the design business so we’re very particular about the design and quality of the work to be preformed in our home. I have also renovated several homes, I’m pretty handy myself and have a fair amount of contracting knowledge. So I know what what to expect, how the work should be performed and the costs associated with it. We interviewed six highly rated contractors in a highly vetted and competitive bid process. Jeff set himself apart with his reviews on a number of highly reputable sites (including this one), home owner references (of which there are many) and team (plumbers, electricians, tilers, painters, finishing carpenters, plasterers, masons, suppliers, etc.). His team of subs all have been working together for over 20 years and take tremendous pride in their work. They’ll show you pictures of their work like the projects are their children. Best of all they all have worked together on so many projects that they complete each other’s sentences. So nothing gets lost in translation between the customer, contractor and sub. Jeff also has his own crew who are incredibly dedicated, skilled, hardworking (i.e. removed a two story brick chimney in 3 days) and polished. One notable member of his team is Elvis (and yes he's a rock star too). He is the go to person for any challenges faced during a project. He's highly knowledgable and skilled. And his easy going, "we can do that" attitude with a smile is always welcomed. Having spent months with him, my kids consider him their long lost uncle. The renovation included a complete gut of the kitchen, 2.5 baths and four bedrooms. We have completely updated the electrical, plumbing, windows, HVAC, furnace and hot water system. Added French Doors and skylights. We removed an obsolete two story brick furnace chimney which recaptured significant square footage. We have reconfigured and optimized most of the rooms and removed several load bearing walls to create an open floor plan. We refaced our fireplace in honed granite and replaced the fire brick. We just completed Phase Two by renovating our basement which includes a wood burning fireplace adding 610 square feet of living space. We also plan on renovating the attic into a living space with heating/cooling, new windows and skylights as part of Phase Three. Thus far there is no challenge we have thrown at Jeff that he hasn’t been able to address. In summary, there are a lot of contractors out there. But do yourself a favor and hire a known quantity who has the experience and the resources to back it up. Jeff Veglia Remodeling delivers on the promise. In fact, we were so confident in Jeff Veglia Remodeling ability that we recommended him to two close friends of ours who ultimately hired him. If I could give Jeff and his team 10 stars I would! I had contacted several contractors about bathroom remodeling and Jeff was the most responsive and informative, always getting back to me with answers to my questions in the time-frame he said he would. As soon as I met him I knew he was the guy I wanted to do the work; he immediately made me feel like I could trust him and that I’d be in good hands throughout the project even if some unexpected issues came up…which in a 100+ year old house they did…and my first impression of him was correct. Jeff is experienced, knows his stuff, and has high expectations and standards for himself, the guys who work for him, and the sub-contractors he uses. By the end of the project it felt like he and his crew were family. Now that the project is complete, I do not miss the overall disruption any major remodeling entails, but I do miss seeing him and his crew every day! The initial project scope was to completely re-do 3 bathrooms. We recently purchased a 100+ year old home large enough for my elderly mother to come live with us, and knew we’d need to remodel the first-floor half-bath to add a shower for mom to use. But shortly after purchasing the house we discovered there were major plumbing issues [i.e. leaking pipes in the walls] making the 2 upstairs bathrooms un-useable as they were. After talking to several plumbers about just fixing the leak, all of whom said the walls and 1st floor ceiling would need to be opened up, I ended up deciding to re-do all 3 bathrooms at the same time, and chose Jeff to do the project. And I feel so very fortunate to have found him! In fact, I was so impressed with the work he and his crew did with the 3-bath project that as that was coming to a close, I asked Jeff to add me to his schedule to come back when he had schedule availability to re-do the tiny basement bathroom we were using during the major remodel, and re-do the basement family room floor (remove tired old wall to wall carpet and replace with tile), re-do the fireplace surround with granite, and paint. Fortunately for me, Jeff was able to fit this new project into his schedule just as the 3 bath project was wrapping up. So, I now have 4 beautiful new bathrooms that are all use-able plus a nicely updated basement family room! I’d give Jeff an A+ overall. He is professional, responsive and always got back to me in the time-frame he said he would. He and his crew provide quality renovations and have the experience and knowledge to anticipate and resolve issues before they become problems. He was not the least expensive contractor I got a price quote from but he wasn’t the most expensive one either; based on my experience dealing with other contractors over the years I’d say Jeff’s pricing is reasonable and is a very good value for what you get in return -- a quality job and peace of mind that you are in good hands.

Jeff and his crew transformed a small dated 1980s bathroom into a beautiful modern bathroom. It exceeded my expectations. From the beginning, Jeff demonstrated familiarity with local building codes. He always responded to emails and texts. His crew showed up on time. They cleaned up every day. Any problems that arose were quickly resolved. I had previous issues with frozen pipes. The bathtub pipes were rerouted to an inside wall and new baseboard heat was installed. As the bathroom is very small, a custom counter was placed over the sink and cut on both sides so that a small shelf extends over the toilet and another small shelf goes to the wall on the other side of the sink. An extra piece of the marble was used to create a small shelf under the shelf on the wall side. Across from the sink and the toilet, is the tub with tile insert for shampoo and soaps. Between the tub and the outside wall are 3 open shelves for storage. The medicine cabinet above the vanity is recessed into the wall creating a spacious feeling. So the tired gray-tiled 80s bathroom is now a sensational 2016 bathroom!

I was fortunate enough to secure the services of Jeff Veglia and his fine team of subs. This particular renovation took place in a historic building in the Beacon Hill section of Boston. Jeff was the driving force behind a complete demo'ing down to the studs and the rebuilding of the unit into a first class, pristine home. Despite numerous hurdles along the way, he never lost sight of the final goal and produced a throughly beautiful product. I recommend Jeff and his team without any reservations.

I hired Jeff Veglia to complete a down-to-the-studs remodel of my mother's large kichen and eating area in Milton, MA. I should mention that I have known Jeff since 2011 when he re-did a kitchen and bathroom at my house. I had a great experience with him on that job so I knew I couldn't go wrong hiring him again for my mother's house. My mother's kitchen job was more complicated because it involved removing a wall to open the kitchen to a dining area, relocating some baseboard heating, relocating/expanding the pantry, and re-doing the entryway hallway from the outside up into the kitchen. Jeff showed up promptly to evaluate the job. He was very creative and patient, provided his own ideas and suggestions while still carefully listening to our objectives and goals. His quote was slightly higher than the other quote I got, but the other quote was really just a sanity check for me as I has planned to hire Jeff from the get-go given my prior positive experience with him. The three most important things to us were: (1) quality of work; (2) respect for the house and courtesy by his crew; and (3) adherence to the schedule, both start date and time to complete. I am pleased to say Jeff and his team earned top notch ratings in each of these areas. We were thrilled with the end product, we enjoyed working with him and his team, and the job was finished slightly ahead of his estimated timeframe despite some unevitable challenges along the way that arise with old houses. I have recommended Jeff to several of my friends and collagues without hesitation and will be sure to call on him for my future home renovation projects.

Jeff and his colleagues are wonderful. They are hard-working, punctual, very clean, wonderful craftspeople and extremely pleasant and good-natured. I have used them now on 3 separate occasions and can't say enough, Jeff cares deeply about what he and his team produce. I couldn’t be happier with how it went. I found Jeff on Angie’s List and he was one of three contractors I met with who bid on the project. His references raved about him and he was in the middle price wise. There are a couple things that really stand out about Jeff and his team. 1.Communication- Jeff is glued to his phone. He replies to texts instantaneously and he is so prompt in taking care of things. If you have a question or a concern, he addresses it quickly and comprehensively. Also, one of his references, a female interior designer, said she always felt very respected by Jeff as a woman and a designer in the field. I felt the same way with everyone on Jeff’s team. 2.Experience- Jeff has a wealth of experience in this field. Beyond feeling like I was in good hands, there were a couple times in which his experience clearly came into play. First, he had a brilliant idea to move the location of the sink, something that the architect hadn’t even thought of. We went with his idea and it solved a lot of design problems. Also, throughout the project, if you run an idea by Jeff, he was will always listen thoughtfully and either immediately make the adjustments or very thoughtfully explain to you why you are actually crazy. ☺ For example, after I mistakenly told them the wrong grout colors, Jeff was ready to have his team go in the next morning and try to pull out the installed grout. If you work with him, I strongly encourage you to trust his instincts and take his advice. You won’t regret it! 3.His Team- In the past, workers in the house have made me anxious. Despite their best intentions, I always felt on edge. With Jeff’s team, I honestly enjoyed having them in the house. They clearly care about the project and are committed to their work and taking care of your home in the process. As a stickler for cleanliness, I was struck by how well they cleaned up every day. Also, they take great pride in their work and have a real attention to detail throughout the project. (An interior designer came and looked at the final project and her comment sum it up well, “They are true craftsmen.”) I couldn’t have been happier with how the project went. One last piece of advice—Jeff is busy and you will probably have to wait a while for him. I would say he is completely worth the wait, but be prepared for that. Highly recommended!
