We recently wrapped up a kitchen and living room remodel with MSK Design Build, and I can’t say enough good things about the experience! From start to finish, the process was smooth and enjoyable. Our designer, Suzy Baur, was incredible—she really took the time to understand both my vision and my spouse’s (which isn’t easy since we don’t always agree on design!). She managed to create a space that we both absolutely love. The crew was professional, detail-oriented, and took real pride in their work. Any time a small issue came up, it was handled right away. The owners were equally impressive—genuinely invested in the quality of their work and in making sure we had a great experience from start to finish. If you’re considering a remodel, I highly recommend MSK. They exceeded our expectations and made the whole process way less stressful than we imagined!

MSK is exceptional. We’d heard all of the remodel scares about projects taking 2x the time and the cost you plan on. No one we knew was willing to recommend their firms. But we are. It was on time and on budget, and that’s just the start. This is our second project with MSK. We had previously done a kitchen remodel and this time it was a primary bath and bedroom. Once again, the service, craftmanship, attention to detail, and professionalism was amazing. Being able to do everything from the design to the construction with one company is so helpful. Linda was our designer for both projects. She listens, provides all types of options and makes the shopping process so easy. During the construction phase they do everything to make the disruption minimal. The carpenters are true craftsmen and making sure everything is done correctly is always a priority. Both projects were done on time and done to budget. We could not be happier with our MSK home!

MSK Design Build transformed our 120-year old, 64 square foot bathroom into a modern, beautiful one. The process was smooth, professional, within budget, and on schedule. From the first moment we reached out to MSK Design Build, to the completion of the remodel, their team moved smoothly through every step. Luz crafted a lovely design and worked with suppliers so that we could effortlessly select hardware, tile, and fixtures that were all beautiful and within our budget. Their team, expertly managed by Chris, and lead by Jason, was comprised skilled tradespeople. Communication was excellent and we were always kept informed. Scott and Kat’s competence and strong direction were evident throughout the project and in the excellent results. We feel very fortunate to have had MSK design work on our home. It was a pleasure working with them.

We are a family that loves to cook together. Our existing kitchen, while a large room, was more like a galley and the bottlenecks when we were all cooking together were a nightmare. For over 20 years, we struggled with the flow and workspaces, constantly running into each other. We finally had enough and pulled the plug on a new, much more functional kitchen. We chose MSK as our partner in this endeavor. We were about to do the largest and most expensive renovation we’d ever done, and we wanted it done right… from design to completion. MSK did not disappoint. They are a professionally run company with outstanding staff and ownership. We’d heard nightmares about kitchen renovations going well beyond the due date, with out-of-control costs, so we were cautious and checked MSK’s references. To say the least, the reviews were glowing; on time and on budget. We worked with our designer Kelly, for an entire year honing the design (that year is on me as I couldn’t make up my mind on so many things). Kelly’s insight, patience, and guidance helped me navigate so many choices. We were assigned a project manager, Curt, to keep us on track and a lead carpenter, Jason, to be a daily presence on site. From day 1 of construction, Jason was with us every step of the way. The walls came down and the kitchen torn out starting on July 5th, 2023. We were scheduled to be finished in 12 weeks. MSK came in on budget and delivered our finished kitchen early, at just over 11 weeks. Our kitchen is beautiful but more than that, it is functional. If I had to do it all over again, I would pick MSK.

MSK did a bathroom addition in our house in Walnut Creek, and we could not be happier with their work! They are organized and process-oriented all the way through. This was our first major remodel, and we were apprehensive having heard nightmarish stories about remodeling. Happy to say that our experience turned out to be the opposite. The team was always receptive to any questions, feedback or requests we had. They are genuinely nice people, and made sure almost anything we wanted to add was taken care of. We did hit a snag with the medicine cabinet dimensions being incorrect, which caused a slight delay, but we were kept informed all along. Since this was a bathroom addition instead of a remodel, it entailed a few extra steps such as, adding a sewer line, getting permits etc. We would not have known where to start, if we had to co-ordinate all of that ourselves. Thanks to Kat, Scott, Suzy, Chris, Al and team for taking care of everything. We love our new primary suite!

I have been meaning to right this review for MSK Design and Build for some time; especially if you are looking for a full design and build company. In a nutshell, MSK Design and Build is an impressive company!!! Everyone at MSK was so respectful of our home, property, and most importantly our pets. A truly professional all-inclusive design and build company. Leadership, Scott and Kat: Scott personally inspected our home to make sure proposed changes were correct and gave us difficult news when it was not. Kat, what a special lady. Gave sound professional advice thru out the entire year long experience. She really knows her stuff and the business, and I never felt as if my construction business ignorance was being taken advantage of. Bottom line, trust Kat and Scott!! You won’t go wrong. Design, Linda Bryant: What a gracious and thoughtful person. She genuinely took the time to understand what we wanted And more importantly, she cautioned us on what would not work and why. BTW: She has great taste. Trust her when she recommends. Project Management, Curt Roth: Curt was excellent in managing a timely project and keeping us informed. He was very thoughtful in closing on action items, or details. Site Lead, Jason Owens: Man, he is really good at putting it all together. I wish I had a quarter of his skill set. The house looks so professionally done. I mean all the handles in the kitchen line up perfectly, it looks awesome!! Plumbing, Jorge Martinez and Miro Mihalev: You know, plumbing is something I can never get right. No matter what I do, something leaks. Thank goodness MSK had the A team work on our house. Pipes and the water heater moved, and laundry equipment was relocated. All seamlessly and professionally done. Painting, Shawn Mapes, and Clinton Van Name: You know there is nothing like having your home professionally painted inside and out. The house really pops wherever you stand, and the paint looks rich and luxurious. Lastly, their prep work was first rate, from stucco cracks to window treatments. Framing and Finishing work: Jose Saucedo, Alvaro Alas and Jose Mariscal: These guys made some of the perplexing little things seem easy, and in the end really made the small things perfect. A pocket door we had installed was a perfect example. The attention to detail by these gentlemen, and MSK mgmt., makes that door work perfectly One additional note that I found refreshing was the relationship MSK has with their subcontractors. MSK worked closely with all their subcontractors, which met that it did not fall on us to anyway manage. I have heard horror stories about subcontractors being slow, late, or poor workmanship. Not one of the subcontractors exhibited any of that Summary: You can’t go wrong with MSK. Are they cheapest? No. Are they the most expensive? No. Are they the most professional, respectful, timely, highest quality contractor? I think so. Can’t wait for phase B.

A year ago, my husband and I found ourselves in the predicament of having downsized from our home of almost 20 years in the Oakland Hills to a 2 bedroom condo in Rossmoor with a beautiful view and an interior dated to early Austin Powers. Our beloved contractor of 30 years had just retired, and we felt some anxiety about who would be able to take on the project of updating, modernizing, dare we say transforming our place into a home? We are so lucky that we found MSK. From initial meetings to planning, demo, design choices, budgeting, and dealing with the unexpected (hello, bathroom plumbing encased in concrete and sloping kitchen floors), they've been great. They really shine at excellent communication throughout the process and taking care of all the details, from permitting to dealing with homeowner association concerns to neighbor concerns and questions. The designer we worked with made the arduous task of picking paint colors, lighting, carpeting, appliances, tile, cabinetry, etc. so much easier and actually fun, they work with wonderful local suppliers. The quality of attention and craftsmanship they applied to our home always made us feel like we were getting top value for the money spent, and we always knew where we stood in terms of the budget. If I were to choose one quality I most valued, it was the level of communication and follow through that run's through the company from the top on down. We provided them a challenging site (scant parking, close neighbors, our constant presence) and they met it all with grace and good humor. So, from structural changes that took us out of the 70's to great bathrooms, living areas and the gourmet kitchen I thought I'd left behind in Oakland, they really made our place a home that reflects us. From my perspective, their value provided far exceeded the money well spent. Thank you, Scott, Kat and the whole MSK crew.

Our MSK Design Build Experience In late 2022, we decided we needed help updating a 1974 build that we had just moved into but didn’t have the budget to do a total remodel or the ability to live elsewhere during the work. Also, we were new to the area and needed help with recommendations for purchases and choices like appliances, backsplash, counters, flooring, windows, etc. We needed to hire a company we could trust from top to bottom. We met with several companies. Only one had the depth and gave us the comfort level we sought, and later lived up to it: MSK Design Build. Here's what we experienced: Our initial impression of MSK Design Build was that it is a 20+ year old, carefully assembled business and team the heart of which is its employees. The team had competence, confidence, talent, creativity, and empathy for their clients. What a package! MSK communicated well and completely. They were patient, methodical and considerate during the design process. They listened well and were respectful of our input. The construction project management tool, CoConstruct, enabled us to keep track of all aspects of the remodel. Budget and financial matters were handled with sensitivity, accuracy and thrift. Work was scheduled with concern for our needs and comfort. A temporary kitchen was set up in our living room and the kitchen worksite was completely sealed off. There was someone at the house working every day and the work site was kept clean and neat. Care was taken to ensure our kitty was kept out of harm’s way. MSK knew how to work around supply chain challenges. They understood how to work with permitting authorities so that there were no delays. MSK’s mantra was “If you’re not happy with something, we’ll make it right.” The rest of this story is almost too good to be true. MSK finished the project early. We have an absolutely beautiful, completely new kitchen with plenty of storage. A wall was removed, windows modified and ceiling raised to give us an open concept kitchen, dining and entertaining area. We have great looking LVP floors throughout our home, and all new windows and sliders. We love it all. We actually had fun working with MSK. Who says that? We learned a lot from them. After approaching several contractors and a couple of design/build firms about a home remodel project we’d been considering, we opted to work with Kat, Scott and the team at MSK Design Build. We made this decision because MSK immediately presented as the most organized and communicative outfit that we spoke with. We engaged MSK to help us increase the footprint of our home by approximately 200 sq ft, convert an old bathroom into a ‘Jack and Jill’ shared bathroom for our kids and completely replace the primary bathroom and closet. MSK’s designer Suzy was very helpful and easy to work with as we developed and refined plans for the project. Because we wanted to consider a variety of possibilities, this process went through many phases but no one at MSK rushed us or requested additional funds for the time involved. After we’d landed on a design that we were comfortable with, Scott and his team took over to build everything. Our initial meeting with the team of professionals that MSK has on staff set the tone for the whole project. It was super helpful and comforting to have MSK directly address matters as mundane as where a porta potty would be located to the more critical dynamics of subbing some of the work out to outside craftsmen. On a couple of occasions, our project got delayed by some severe weather and COVID but MSK always kept us informed about the situations and pushed to get back to work as soon as possible. During one particularly intense winter storm, some tarps were blown loose from the exterior of the work site and we had to call our Project Manager, Curt, on a Saturday morning. Curt didn’t hesitate to get the Lead Carpenter, Jason, and his associate extraordinaire, Jose, over to our place and within an hour everything was buttoned up tight despite the howling wind. Eventually we did have an issue with some of the tilework performed by MSK’s sub and we had to pump the brakes on the project to get the issue resolved. But Kat, Scott and Suzy were quick to schedule an onsite meeting with us to get to the bottom of the matter. After hearing concerns and considering potential remedies Kat and Scott very matter of factly told us, ‘If you’re not happy, it’s unacceptable and we’re gonna make it right.’ We agreed on a plan to address and resolve the tile problems and MSK got it done with out protest or drama. I also want to make clear that outside of the tile sub issues, the work that MSK did was of a very high quality and now (approximately 6 months after the completion of our project) we’re using completely hassle-free spaces that we love. They may not provide the lowest price at the onset of a project but they stuck to our budget and the professionalism was well worth every penny we spent. In addition to the folks mentioned previously, we want to make a point of acknowledging and expressing gratitude to Shawn (MSK’s Painter), Alvaro (second Lead Carpenter) and Miro (one of MSK’s Plumbers) who were simply wonderful to work with.

This was our first experience doing an actual remodel—we’ve spent years doing DIY projects and will continue to do so, but we knew we needed experts to take care of our kitchen remodel. We really can’t believe how lucky we got! Why you should go with MSK Design Build: 1. They do EVERYTHING. 2. Design – The best ever. Our designer, Linda Bryant, listened to what we were looking for – to turn our 1950s galley kitchen into a functional, clean space. She created a wonderful and unexpectedly spacious design without changing the footprint of the kitchen. She gave us homework – how do we use our current space, what’s working, what’s not working—and gave us honest advise on which bell or whistle was something we should spend our money on. We just loved her! 3. Permits – I don’t know what that would have entailed, but I know it saved me time and aggravation. Our neighbors up the street had to fit this into their busy schedule, and they are on month 5 still trying to get their new kitchen done. 4. Vetted reliable contractors – no getting bids and hoping the one we chose showed up to work and completed their jobs--MSK brings long-held reliable relationships with them. MSK wouldn’t work with them if they hadn’t proven themselves. They showed up, did great work, were quiet and respectful. They left our place each afternoon clean with all tools put away. Al Alas, our onsite project manager, made sure of that… We credit Al for getting the work done, and done well. 5. Finished a week early!! - Our flooring folks had a cancellation the week before they were to start doing not just the kitchen, but the whole house! They were able to start a week early at the opposite end of the house while the kitchen cabinets were still getting put in and were done before they initially were supposed to start. It feels like a brand new house, not just a new kitchen. Every time we look at our new kitchen, it makes me smile and feel just happy to be here. I would highly recommend MSK Design Build!!! We first used MSK in 2019 for a kitchen remodel. We had a very distinct, modern look we were trying to achieve and felt MSK was the team that would be able to do it for us. We used them again this past year (2022) for a bathroom remodel, stairs and banister/railing project, putting hardwood into our upstairs area as well as transforming a formal living room and guest room into a new En Suite for visiting family members. We had quite a few friends go through a remodel and heard all the crazy stories of trying to get multiple contractors, designers, architects, etc. to get on the same page. The beauty of MSK is that they're a design-build firm and take responsibility for everything from design to execution. They even follow up every few months after completion to make sure we're pleased with the outcome. We chose MSK because we felt they were honest, forthcoming people. And we were right! They kept us up to speed on anything that varied from the detailed plan they had set forth from the beginning. They use a platform called Co-Construct that keeps everyone up to date on what's happening and allows for extremely easy communication between client and builder. That was extremely important to us since our hours aren't always conducive to playing phone tag throughout the day. The team at MSK was amazing! Our designer, Suzie, helped us go from everything we had seen in magazines and online to putting together a well thought out design to help match aesthetic to function. The team that came in everyday were fantastic as well. The team that came in were always very professional, courteous and punctual. They definitely stand behind their work. They respond right away and get someone out here as soon as they can to fix it without me having to constantly remind them. Amazing! We get so many compliments on our new kitchen and family room and love the look! Our new bathroom, stairs and En Suite are amazing! I would recommend no one else but MSK if you're planning a project!!

A hundred KUDOS for MSK Design Build who just completed our kitchen remodel. Kelly and I worked great together to fine tune the design, focusing on both function and beauty. We tore the existing kitchen down to the studs and replaced everything. Chuck, the onsite construction lead, was on top of every detail. The form, fit and function came out perfect. Every time we come into the kitchen, we get a smile on our face.Thank you to Kelly, Chuck, Curt, Kat, Scott and the entire team for a job well done. We would recommend MSK hands down.

This was our second time using MSK. The minute we went in to escrow, I called them to get our project going. I can’t say enough about how well they managed both of our remodels. MSK takes care of you from A to Z and is always available. Our designer Karen was very thorough and took our project in stride as we continued to add to it. Al, our lead carpenter, was professional and reliable. The staff and subs were excellent. MSK stuck to their timeline and managed the whole process really well. We are thrilled with the result and so happy in our new space.

Can't say enough great things about MSK Design-Build! We moved to Walnut Creek in Summer of 2021 and bought in a hot market. Needed a remodel and our realtor recommended a design build. I research online and narrowed down to 3 East Bay companies. I interviewed each and was blown away by MSK. We had a lovely designer, they worked with us on budget and they were exceptional in the build quality - not to mention cleanliness. We lived in the home during the remodel so we're breaking it into phases. Very excited about how it all turned out. Phase 1 was mechanical as everything in the house was outdated, plus a bathroom remodel and other things like doors, paint, etc. Can't recommend MSK enough!

MSK did a major remodel for our home including removing and rebuilding a multiple walls, extending our roofline and garage, and total gutting and remodeling of our kitchen. The work took multiple months during the pandemic with many supply chain issues. MSK was professional, responsive, and with us from beginning to end. I am so thankful that we chose MSK to do our project. They guided us through the remodeling process as well as accommodated our needs as we were insistent on living in our home while the remodel was in process. Jason, lead carpenter, moved our washer outside and connected it for us. Curt, project manager, and team moved our dining table at least 3 times so that our grand piano was still playable. The whole crew was respectful and always wore their mask while working in the house. MSK is a professional company with integrity that listens to their clients.

We have moved into our gorgeous new bathroom and we are thrilled with it. Once again, Linda's design is beautiful and meets all of our criteria. Her care in creating the design and her expertise in helping with our selections ensured another successful outcome. Joe, Sean, Dom, Gary, Jorge and the entire team did a fantastic job. Joe and his team were timely, efficient (completed the project AHEAD of schedule), tidy, unfailingly friendly and checked in with us when on-site client decisions needed to be made. Another excellent experience with MSK!!

We would highly recommend working with MSK Design Build on any home remodel project. We selected MSK to remodel our kitchen after interviewing several firms. From our initial meeting to project closeout, MSK was great to work with. Owners Scott and Kat, designer Kelly, and lead carpenter Joe were all professional, highly skilled, and hard-working. At every phase of the project, the team was quickly responsive to questions and requests. The online platform Co-Construct kept us aware of every aspect of the project and the day-to-day schedule. Co-Construct provided very easy communication between us and the MSK team and allowed us to continue working and traveling throughout the project. It was a pleasure to work with the team on the design. Kelly and Scott provided several layout options for enlarging our kitchen and adding access to outside. Kelly quickly learned our style and provided great options we had not considered, all while keeping our budget in mind. During the construction phase, Joe did an amazing job minimizing the impact on our lives. The site was left clean every day. He was always available to discuss what was being done and the next steps. He was hard-working, friendly and on top of every detail. Our black lab misses watching Joe and his team work! We love the new kitchen and would definitely use MSK for our next home remodel project!

Earlier this year we worked with MSK on getting our Kitchen, Living Space, and Bathroom remodeled. Going into this process we knew absolutely nothing about all the steps involved with a project like this. One of the reasons we went with MSK is because they are a one stop shop from design to completion. They worked with us throughout the entire process from ideation, design, permitting, material acquisition, demolition, construction to finishing touches. Starting with ideation and design with Kelly, she was able to take our ideas and turn them into reality. We relied heavily on her expertise and feedback when it came to the layout of our kitchen and she made it very easy for us to pick tiles, countertops, cabinets, lighting etc. When we decided to change things or ad something new (like a fireplace half way through the design process) Kelly always rolled with it and provided input and updated designs. Prior to demolition, MSK made sure we had a makeshift kitchen and set up plastic sheeting to protect the remainder of our home from dust. When we ran into unexpected problems they worked with us to come up with appropriate solutions quickly and efficiently. They met all of our special requirements like fully smart home compatible and RGB accent lighting. We started this remodel in March 2021 and it was completed by the end of June. Both my partner and I were working from home, with one child remote learning with COVID looming around us. MSK was very considerate during this situation, keeping the noise down (aside from construction) and following COVID protocols. We had such a good experience that we are currently working with them on our next project.

We're happy to report that we had a great experience with MSK Design Build (which we found right here on houzz). The MSK team just completed a remodel of our guest bathroom. Throughout the process, it was an excellent experience, as they designed our new bathroom, worked with us to select all tile, fixtures, lighting, etc., do demo, and then complete the build. Along the way, we encountered several obstacles, but the MSK team was very responsive and quick to develop viable solutions. We would definitely work with them again.

We hired MSK to remodel the kitchen, living room, and master bathroom of our house in Moraga. They did an amazing job! Scott and Kat could not be kinder or more professional, and Suzy, Curt, Joe, and the rest of the team did fantastic work from design through the final touches. MSK accommodated a substantial scope expansion midway through the project and still finished the work by our deadline. The renovation transformed our house for the better in ways we could scarcely have imagined. You will not find a better team in this business!

We just finished our kitchen remodel with MSK and could not be happier. From our designer, Linda Bryant, to the entire construction crew, every member of the MSK team was professional. Home remodeling is very disruptive but the MSK crew left the work area clean and safe at the end of every day and kept all materials organized. Nothing was ever in the way. Early in the design phase, we decided to expand beyond our kitchen to update our family room and entry area and everything looks great. They stand by their work and have been responsive to all messages. They have strong, longstanding relationships with top vendors in the area but, as an MSK client, all my communications went through MSK and they handle all vendor contact. Their Co-Construct software and app keep you updated at all stages and with all communications so everyone is on the same page. We were impressed by everyone we met - vendors and MSK staff - and have recommended them to everyone who has asked about our remodel. At the time of the remodel, we had an elderly indoor cat (he recently passed away). He was not comfortable around strangers but it did not take him long to be completely at ease with the MSK folks. He was an excellent judge of character! We would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

From the beginning to end, MSK Design Build is a dream company to work with. They are customer oriented and make sure to inform you about every option or possibility. We needed our entire kitchen remodeled – floor to cabinets, as old kitchen was old fashion from 1950s design, small rooms, separated with walls and endless number of doors, patchwork flooring. Our dream was to have space that is fully integrated with rest of the house. On our first meeting we were introduced to Scott the President of the company, he came along with Estimator & Project Manager Bridget, they carefully listened what we were looking for, and provided options. They gave us an advice on what would work in our space, and what not. They also provided price options which we really appreciated. Once we agreed on price, that price never changed. After meeting with Scott and Bridget we were connected, chosen carefully to meet our needs with an awesome MSK Design Build Designer Suzy Baur. She worked with us flawlessly through whole process, giving us fantastic advises and suggestions, helping with right choices of cabinets, countertops, tiles, appliances, doors, hardware, plumbing etc. To honor Suzy’s hard work we decided at the end to have our front door paint in orange, what we knew it is her favorite color. We love you Suzy! As a new client we didn’t realize how much effort and time is taking planning project as our, lots of people were involved in it like engineers that were responsible for construction being safe and pass city inspection, architects that made a plan for space to meet our needs, and for designer to fit kitchen of our dreams into new space. We were given a timeline at the beginning of the project, and every target date was met. Thank You Margie for keeping all financial updates and sending detailed invoices, so we knew what part of project was paid. Before demo we were introduced to fantastic Project Managers Curt and Joe. They were the people that we could address anything we were not sure or have questions about. They brought on the project site wonderful and respectful team Chuck, Sean, Dom, Pablo, Ramon, Giovanni, Jorge, Jose, Jason, Jose, Alvaro and Daniel, they all worked very hard every day, showing up on time and leaving place all clean and organized ready for the next day. Curt and Joe used different crews for flooring (we were really amazed how beautiful and spotless work have done Chuck and his helpers and matched our old flooring from the 50s to the rest of the house with new floor, Thank You Chuck!), backsplash tiles (Thank You Sean for great work in setting tiles to create a classic and clean look in our new kitchen), painting (thank You Dom!), cabinets (Joe and Pablo were working on details and WOW, it’s amazing! Thank You Joe and Pablo!), and counter tops, electric work (Gary was very patient with our requests, thank you Gary for all your help!) all of who were completely professional, clean, and respected our home. Thank You All! Our kitchen was remodeled in five working days over the course of 20 weeks. The one factor that really set MSK Design Build apart was their responsiveness. Curt, Joe, Suzy responded to inquiries from us quickly. It’s a huge difference maker – we never felt like we were project number – they treated us like we were their only job. What was very heart touching that on the very first day when demo started Kat and Scott (MSK Design Build Presidents) brought us wine and chocolate to made us feel less anxious about big project to start, also on the very last day Kat (MSK Design Build President) and Suzy (MSK Design Build Designer) brought us fabulous basket with goodies. Thank You Kat and Scott for giving us great experience, we are looking forward to make new wonderful memories in our beautiful kitchen. We are incredibly happy that we chose MSK Design Build for our Walnut Creek whole home remodel. The owners Kat and Scott made sure we were satisfied during every phase of the remodel. The designer Kelly listened to our ideas and layered on her expertise to come up with a kitchen that’s both functional and eye catching. Kelly is a second-generation designer and literally wrote the book on kitchen design; it’s aptly titled Kelly’s Kitchen Sync. The project manager Curt was on premise when we needed him and out of sight, working behind the scenes, when his crew had everything under control. And we can’t give enough praise to master carpenter Chuck who installed the cabinets with precision, plumber George who makes perfect welds, and painter Dom for the finishing touch. In the end, MSK delivered on time and on budget and gave us the fantastic kitchen and living space we’ve wanted for years. We had a great experience partnering with MSK, and we can recommend them to anyone considering a kitchen or full home remodel like ours.

Everyone on the project was excellent. Linda, our designer did a wonderful job of listening and helping us to make decisions that fit us and our style. She optimized our relatively modest space and it feels luxurious to us. She was so easy to work with and was great about communicating next steps and deadlines. Curt, the project manager was fantastic - knowledgeable, a great communicator, unflappable and attuned to the client. We couldn’t have asked for a better lead contractor than Chuck. His work is first rate, he patiently responded to our questions and always wanted to be sure we were satisfied. Gary was an excellent electrician. We especially appreciated his consulting us along the way to ensure the lighting was the way we wanted it. MSK has built a great team!

We have worked with a lot of contractors through the years, and MSK is the only one that we have called back to do not only a second job, but a third and a fourth, and that says so much about the kind of business that they run. They are professional, punctual, skilled, have a great sense of design, and they are just nice. They provide an outlined and impeccably detailed budget and schedule and are very clear about when a decision or request will add to that budget, so there are never any surprises. They turned our funky 1950's cottage into an award winning showpiece that not only looks great, but feels great to live in. I could not recommend them more highly.

We couldn't be happier! MSK Design Build completely remodeled the first floor of our house including our kitchen, family room, dining room, half bath, laundry, fireplace, and staircase. Three and a half years later we are still thrilled with their work! From the very beginning, our designer, Linda Bryant, was absolutely amazing. She was fun, creative, and easy to work with. She really took the time to listen to our Big Picture dreams as well as expertly manage all of the important details. Linda made the multitudes of decisions so much easier to make, always knowing when we were feeling overwhelmed, and expertly breaking down the process for us. She was beyond thoughtful as she brought our concept to life and actually improved upon it. Owner Scott worked diligently on redesigning the floor plan (not easy with our existing structure!), moving walls and creating an open plan kitchen, dining and living area that accommodates our large family gatherings. Our project manager, Curt, was involved throughout the construction phase and the crew was fantastic! They were respectful, clean and diligent. We were surprised that there was someone there everyday – very few down days, unlike the stories that one hears. MSK absolutely stands behind their work 100%. I had a slight problem with one of the cabinets that I helped to design, and they tirelessly worked with me after the job was concluded to make sure that I was completely satisfied with the finished product. We were very impressed! MSK expertly and professionally brought our dreams to life. We are now working with them on our next project!

MSK Design is everything I had hoped for in a remodeling project experience! Let's be honest, it's exciting to remodel a room but also somewhat stressful. I had only heard good reviews from friends and acquaintances who had worked with MSK in the past so when the time came to remodel our kitchen they were my first choice. They did not disappoint. From beginning to end it was a seamless experience, great communication through out and truly wonderful people to work with! Much to my surprise, the project was completed on the exact day they said it would be! (even with discovering some unexpected termite & dry rot issues, etc.) I HIGHLY recommend MSK for your next home improvement project!

MSK recently completed our kitchen remodel. The entire team was professional and easy to work with. It was helpful having a designer, lead carpenter and project manager involved to set expectations and help us navigate the process. We finished on time and just over budget. We cannot say enough good things about MSK!! We have had MSK do remodeling jobs for us three times over the last few years. Each time their work quality has been outstanding, even exceeding our original expectations. Their workmen were always on time. They were as neat and clean as possible in doing their work and always cleaned up at the end of the day. They went to great lengths to protect our home from the dust and debris always present in these endeavors. They were punctual and, literally, always showed up when they said they would. Few unexpected difficulties appeared in these jobs but when they did, MSK, as an organization, and their representatives, as individuals, handled them with diplomacy and skill. Their integration with necessary subcontractors was amazing and nearly flawless as was their working relationship with us as homeowners. Through personal communications and their marvelous new computer program "Co-Construct" we were kept informed of each step as it occurred. Finally, MSK's estimation process was amazingly accurate and on all jobs the only cost overruns were those generated by us. The slightly higher fees, as compared to other contractors were clearly justified by the timeliness and quality of the work product. We highly recommend that anyone contemplating home remodeling consider MSK for the job.

I choose MSK to remodel my kitchen as they are highly recommended by a friend. I am totally happy with my new kitchen it is simply awesome. The MSK team valued their customers, they made sure my kitchen remodeling project was running smoothly and that I am happy at all stages of the project. The team is very experienced and reliable, Suzy Bauer (MSK’s designer) helped me with designing my kitchen and with all the decision details. Curt the project manager is detailed oriented, resourceful, and always let me know what work would be accomplished each week.

I found MSK Design Build through Yelp, when I noticed all the rave reviews they received. We needed our kitchen remodeled, along with flooring and paint for all the common areas of our home. After initially calling and leaving a message with MSK, I got a call back from Kat (one of the owners) within a couple of hours. Kat was a pleasure to talk to. She answered all my questions and took the time to explain all that MSK does and how they work. Soon after, we met with Natalia, our designer, and the process began. This was our first time doing a remodel, so we were a little nervous, but we didn't need to be. Everything went smoothly for the most part. When there was a hiccup, it was corrected almost immediately. Natalia was awesome!! She was patient and supportive, even during the times when I was incredibly indecisive (which was probably a lot). Natalia always guided me in the right direction with our design, and even encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone, which resulted in a gorgeous kitchen that was beyond our expectations. My husband was so proud of our new kitchen, that he showed pictures of it to all his coworkers, and received tons of compliments. Everyone we worked with through MSK was professional, highly skilled and super hard working, but more than that, they were enjoyable to get to know personally. I also have to mention, that MSK completed our project on time. I was impressed with this, since I had heard stories from people using other companies and their renovation projects dragged out for months longer than expected. I would definitely recommend MSK to anyone who is interested in a remodel. They do superior work.

We hired MSK Design Build to remodel our kitchen. My husband and I decided to go with a design build firm after hearing horror stories from others about trying to coordinate with all different contractors. We interviewed three different design build firms and decided to go with MSK. The reason we chose them initially was their candor, responsiveness, and professionalism. The owner, Scott came to our home with our designer Natalia and they did a thorough job measuring and discussing plans with us. After we signed the contract with them Natalia began the design process. She was absolutely fantastic, guiding us through the process and keeping us on time and on budget. Having never remodeled before, we really appreciated her knowledge and responsiveness, not to mention her design aesthetic. MSK also has an app that the entire team uses that shows all of your selections and communications. This was so helpful in staying organized. I cannot say enough about the team that worked on our home. They were always on time, always very clean and I felt very safe having them in my home with my daughters around. If I had an issue with anything it was always resolved within 24 hours, but very often by the end of the day. Our kitchen turned out beautifully and they were an absolute pleasure to work with. A final example of their "above and beyond" service was when we were having the refrigerator delivered. We ordered our refrigerator from Home Depot and when the delivery men came they said it would not fit and they wouldn't deliver it. I was so upset. I talked to MSK and they had someone come out and when they came back to deliver it, he just handled the delivery. I don't know what we would have done without him. I would recommend MSK highly!

I purchased my home three years ago and loved everything but the kitchen. I interviewed a number of design-build firms and felt MSK listened best to what I wanted to achieve. The staff were excellent, and I was involved where I needed to be, with the team handling the rest. The proof is in the pudding - before and after are night/day. I'm thrilled with the results, and would use this firm again to invest in my home. If you live in California's east bay area, consult with this firm prior to your next - or first - renovation.

We used MSK to build a loft above our living room early this year. Scott, Kat and Natalia and the entire team were so professional from start to finish. The communication was top of the notch. The crew showed up every morning on time and the project was completed on schedule. We are enjoying the extra space and thank you MSK again for the amazing job:-) We would use them again and highly recommend MSK to anyone!

We love our new kitchen. The design was beautiful and so functional. Linda gave us several options to choose from while staying within our budget. And she worked with me to see how I use my kitchen on a daily basis so she could design a kitchen tailored to me. Demolished, enlarged, and completely remodeled our kitchen. Huge project. We were given a timeline and they beat it. 14 Weeks. They were there everyday except one. (I was grateful for the peace.) Their computer program, Co-construct, allowed instant communication and a complete record of communications. Their designer was invaluable. The workers were competent, skilled, kind, respectful, happy, clean, and cleaned up their mess as they went. We used MSK to remodel our kitchen and fireplaces in the spring of 2016. We could not have been happier with the work that MSK did for us! The work was beautifully designed and completed. Kelly and Natalia worked with us to create a home design that would work with our family. The end product is gorgeous and works seamlessly with the existing part of our home. Here are some of the things that I appreciate about MSK… They were on time and they were on budget. There were NO surprises. Before the project started, they gave us a binder with pictures and bios of all the sub-contractors who would be in our home. They gave us letters to put in our neighbors’ mailboxes explaining the additional cars and mess on the street. Joe, who was our day-to-day carpenter and supervisor, was awesome. He made sure everything was done to a very high level of detail often went the extra mile to make things perfect. In addition, there was never any mess at the end of the day. They put up plastic walls to prevent dust from spreading to the rest of the home. They were constantly there for us when we had questions or issues. I also really appreciate their online app that kept us up to date about what was going to happen and when it would happen. And it always did. In a 14 week remodel they were there everyday. I highly recommend MSK Design Build to anyone looking for a professional and wonderful remodel experience!

MSK Design Build is amazing! We first hired them for a difficult double-bathroom remodel (gutting, re-sizing and re-modeling two bathrooms simultaneously). Their design was beautiful and functional, and their construction work was flawless. We loved their work so much, we are using them again for a complete kitchen and dining room remodel! Everyone at MSK (including their outside subcontractors) is a true craftsman and does meticulous work. They pay attention to every detail to make the final result beautiful, well-constructed and truly functional. Every step of the way, they have been on time (or ahead of schedule), on budget, and attentive to making the projects as easy on the household as possible. They pay extra attention to keeping the work-site as clean and dust-free as possible. They also keep us well-informed on every step of the project. I always know who will be showing up to work at the house, and what the construction schedule is. When scheduling snafus have cropped up (like when the cabinet maker did not deliver some cabinets at the expected time), MSK didn't stop work at all - they just revised their workplans to do other work so that we could keep the overall project on time. I would never use anyone else!

We just completed our third major project with MSK over three years and have been delighted with their work every step of the way. They have always been very sensitive to our needs and wishes and delivered the very best quality results. In the first two stages, we added a new master bathroom and a laundry room, relocated heating, air conditioning, and hot water appliances, as well as doing a major expansion and remodeling of our kitchen. This year's project included replacement of nearly all windows and doors, and remodeling of two additional bathrooms. All MSK employees and contractors have been highly skilled and efficient. In addition, MSK has consistently met deadlines and kept costs within projections.
