“After 38 years in our "starter" home, it was time to update our too-small kitchen... we met with a couple of kitchen remodelers, but just didn't feel the fit was right - either the cabinet selections were not our taste, or we did not have confidence in the contractor. Then we were referred to Bob Dion of North Jersey Remodelers. From our first meeting with Bob and his son Chris, we were impressed with their straightforward honesty and approach to the project. Together, we sketched out our goals and some ideas... we talked, they listened; they talked we listened... Bob came back a couple weeks later with a plan and a detailed proposal that clearly stated what was included, what we were to supply, and what issues might incur additional cost. A great approach! We agreed on a potential start date, and Bob referred us to Excelsior Kitchens, a local vendor we were familiar with, for detailed design and to supply the cabinets. We decided to go ahead with the project. After a few design revisions with Stephanie Aluzzo of Excelsior, we reached a final design and ordered our cabinets in December. The work started in mid January, with Bob's sons Rob and Chris. Gutting the kitchen down to the studs; electrical rough-in, lighting installation, inspections, leveling the floor, Rob installed the floor tile... finally the cabinets arrived, and Rob began the installation. As often happens, things don't always go according to plan and we had to make some design changes. Rob handled these with confidence and grace and patience with our changes. They brought in a great finish carpenter - Keith Horn - to install the crown and light rail moldings, and he did a flawless job. Chris guided us through the process of choosing and ordering our granite countertop - and we would have been lost without his help! Rob then finished up with the subway tile backsplash. He too, is a perfectionist. We love our new kitchen! And we could not be happier with Bob, Rob, and Chris. They managed the project efficiently, coordinating all subcontractors, advising us throughout, and quickly adjusted to our changes with out complaint.”

“We bought an apartment in Hell’s Kitchen and after much research selected KBR Design and Build to lay new floors and remodel the kitchen and bathroom. We knew little about the workings of NY condo ownership, so it was essential to have an experienced firm work with our building management to navigate the complicated process of submitting drawings, securing permits, and addressing legal and practical issues. KBR did this work effectively. Having a contractor and designer who worked well together in the same office made it possible for the design and renovation to be done in NYC while we were across the country. Early on, our designer Edison was most responsive in his almost daily communications. He presented us with choices based on what we were seeking and then helped us to finalize selections. The kitchen backsplash was his idea, and it is one of the prettiest aspects of the remodel. He also listened when we said we didn't like something he suggested and came back with something we did. There may have been some measurement issues along the way but given the distance it is hard to know exactly what went wrong, and in the end, everything was resolved to our satisfaction. But the lead contractor Chris O is really why this is a 5 star review. From the moment he was assigned to our project, nearly all concerns we had were addressed quickly and things went smoothly. We are VERY picky, and he made sure that every single thing on our punch list was attended to. All of the walls - even closets - were painted. When a subcontractor or worker was sloppy or forgot to do something (and this did happen) Chris made sure that they came back and made it right. We ordered very expensive custom kitchen cabinets that were not installed to our liking and Chris worked with the company to ensure that the work was redone properly, even being onsite when they returned to make certain it was right. He is a skilled communicator and good person who we enjoyed working with. He himself returned long after the work was complete to install door stops and quiet the shower door squeak. We ordered a custom shower drain cover which didn’t work with the existing drain, and Chris went the extra mile to have it machine fabricated so it would function correctly. The whole of the renovation took about a month or 6 weeks longer than what they estimated which seemed like a win given how renovations often go. We love the apartment and the work that KBR did for us.”

The team was professional, attentive, and clearly committed to high standards throughout the process. We hit a few roadblocks along the way, particularly with building approvals that took longer than expected. Additionally, there was an issue with the kitchen cabinets being delivered incorrectly. That said, the team handled everything with professionalism and efficiency. The cabinet issue was resolved quickly, and the final installation looks flawless. What truly made the difference was the project manager. He was outstanding—always one step ahead, incredibly organized, and excellent at communicating every update. His leadership kept the renovation on track despite the challenges. In the end, I’m very happy with the outcome and would absolutely recommend this team to anyone planning a renovation. Their attention to detail and customer care really set them apart.”
