This contractor exceeded my expectations. I received several bids and selected Darren at SHR for several reasons. First, he listened to our needs then he made several suggestions on design keeping in mind our stated budget. We liked his ideas, we liked him and hired him for our bathroom remodel. I feel like we lucked out with this guy. His detailed bid, itemized parts list, attention to detail, communication, punctuality, all added to our confidence in him and his team. We gutted our old plaster bathroom except for two walls and half the ceiling. His sheetrock work and the way they tied the new and the old together was seamless. They added a sink, added light fixtures, bath fan and changed out all the faucets. The best part, if I had to choose, was his tile work. This guy is an absolute artist. If you're reading this and are picky about things like symmetry and smooth lines, this is the guy to hire. I was amazed at the tile work he did. My old house built in 1947 has crooked walls, the floor was not level so he fixed all of that before starting the tile. The way he laid out the floor was amazing. The deco band in the shower was a one of a kind idea that Darren came up with. Just simply amazing. He finished on time, no surprises on the budget, cleaned up after themselves and besides all that, they were friendly and considerate. If we could give Darren and his Company SHR 10 stars, we would. If you're considering contractors for a bathroom remodel in Marion Country OR, look no further...These guys are the best, period...

Working with Darren and his team, Salem Home Remodeling (SHR) was a great pleasure. We had several bids on this project, all but one we found on Angies list. While SHR was not the lowest cost option, we are so glad we chose to have Darren and his team help us. The total value SHR brought to this project is hard to put into dollars, but well worth the cost we spent over the lower cost bids. So why did we choose SHR? Darren was the only contractor who really had a vision for what our small feeling bathroom could become. Remove a few walls to open up the room, transform and tile the shower, replace the soaker tub, tile the floor and heat it. It was so easy for him to see the possibilities that we had no idea were possible on a budget we could afford. We especially liked his idea on the entry to our new bathroom, Barn door style, with unique rolling hardware from Krown Labs, a local Portland company that sources all their materials in the local area. We like to support our local economy whenever possible, and there is just something neat about showing off the local craftsmanship you can find right in your own backyard.
Darren shared his vision with us and helped us see the possibilities. He provided computer drawings to show what it would look like and always had a strong sense of direction for how it would come together, which gave us confidence to move forward with such a big change and investment.
Having your Master bathroom gutted and redone was a big step for us, both financially and because it was attached to our Master Bedroom, logistically inconvenient. Darren and his team made the process manageable and often stayed late to finish key parts of the project so the impacts to our family were minimized. Having someone in our home unsupervised for the duration of this project was another concern we had, but after interacting with Darren and his team for one day, I had no worries after that.
As with most complex and detailed tasks, our project had a few surprises along the way, but Darren was quick to inform me of them and if needed, he quoted out the additional costs to get the work completed to our satisfaction. One key point about Darren and his team, they can solve just about any problem you may have on your project, this was greatly appreciated and valued by our family, and gave us a strong feeling of confidence throughout the job.
I want to also point out that Darren and his team have a strong work ethic and take pride in the work they complete each day. This translates to an excellent final product with impeccable quality and craftsmanship. We really love our new Bathrooms, the work is excellent quality all the way around, down the smallest detail. Even the caulking is perfect! Wow!
Please give Darren a call if you need any remodeling work done, even here in the Portland Metro Area.
