Signature Kitchens Additions & Baths

Our kitchen project took a while, probably longer than we expected, but this was as much due to covid 19 and a busier than normal home renovation season in Washington DC, as it was to the age of our townhouse. The construction crew was led by Pedro who was earnest, hard-working and a real artist. He went the extra yard applying beautiful finishes in unexpected places, and he was clearly proud of his work. He even finessed the installation of a handy DripDry dish strainer, an appliance that we ourselves ordered but miscalculated in measuring. A contractor working industriously to meet his own high standards, is a good thing. Signature took our ideas, inspirations, questions, doubts and inexperience completely in stride, and we really appreciate the kindness and patience of Roz throughout the design process, and her prompt follow up to all of our concerns. Another day, when we were agonizing over a 2-color cabinet theme, Gary happened to walk into the showroom and showed us a trending color that ended up being complimentary and contrasting, in just the right balance. We are grateful for his suggestion -- the cabinet colors blend so well together. When we began this renovation, the kitchen we called "the cave" didn't have a single drawer, but Roz kept assuring us we would have plenty of light, prep and storage space. The proof of that is now, because as we constantly add cookware, cookbooks, gadgets, furniture; and as we reintroduce some favorite kitchen decorations, the drawers still open wide for more. Our kitchen / dining combination is light, bright, uncrowded and spacious, with almost endless storage, and puts a smile on our face each morning.

Gary did our kitchen in 2011. A cabinet starting to fall as the backboard started to warp. We called Gary. He sent the person the very next day. He not only fixed that cabinet, but also checked other cabinets and sort of did the tune up. Amazing service.

Signature helped me remodel my bathroom to make it more wheelchair accessible. I couldn't be happier with the results, and with the experience. From the beginning, they were extremely attentive to my unique needs and worked with me to make sure everything was perfect. This was a difficult project, with a lot of requirements and requests that were difficult to coordinate, but they made it seem easy. They made sure I got exactly what I wanted. The project was completed exactly on time and on budget, and everyone was a pleasure to work with. The finished project is beautiful and extremely functional. I highly recommend Roz and Gary.

Our kitchen remodel experience with Signature was a very positive one. Our renovation was a complete gut and replace, including modifying the floor plan to achieve a modern open concept design. The project progressed well despite delays by other contractors such as appliance dealers (with whom we contracted separately). And Signature was able to meet the budget set for the project. We now have a kitchen with a beautiful open floor plan that is more spacious, more functional, and with far more storage. We were impressed by our designer's (Joe's) design expertise, by the installers' (Fernando's, Pasqual's, Elmer's) skill, and the owner's (Gary's) commitment to excellence. Gary and Joe even went over and beyond by instructing the crew to perform tasks in areas adjacent to the kitchen, resulting in an overall integrated appearance with the rest of the home. It was a pleasure working with such a professional team as Signature Kitchens and Bath. We highly recommend Signature for any home remodeling project.

This was an awful experience. Repeatedly misled, told I’d have access to many options but once I put down the non-refundable deposit, the options became limited to far fewer, less appealing ones. Additionally, many of the prices they quoted me were 1-1/2x more expensive than other quotes I’ve since gotten, I kept being told that I have “expensive taste," when in fact the prices on what appealed to me were just inflated. Gary told us that the new person we were working has a lot of experience, when in fact this was her first job out of school (which she herself told me at another time); and while Gary insisted that he’d be the lead manager, most of my time was spent with the new person. When I realized we did not want to continue to work with him, he refused to return any of the deposit, even though my request was based on his repeated mis-representations. I’ve never before written a negative review, but I felt this needed to be said.

We had Joe of Signature Kitchens help us design the kitchen in our townhome, which had builder grade material and construction and design from the 90s. Joe helped us with the design, and sourcing everything, including the appliances and light fixtures. We looked at many design/construction companies, and I worried whether we could find a company who would make my husband happy. We started working with one and when they started recommending cheaper materials, telling us all faucets were the same, then we knew to go elsewhere. The kitchen is located in the second floor of our townhome, together with our dining and living rooms. We replaced all the flooring from linoleum (in the kitchen) and carpet (in the living and dining rooms) to hardwood floors. In addition, we had them replace the carpeted stairs from the first to the second floor with hardwood floors. Since we had a home office on the first floor, we were specially concerned that the hardwood flooring not be noisy, and Signature helped us with options to ensure this. It did take longer to install the hardwood, because of the builder had poorly designed our some features of the townhome, but Signature helped us decide which flaws to correct. We were so happy with what Joe did that he also helped us redo our master bath! (And I think he did an even better job as I spend more time there now than in the kitchen!!)

I was completely satisfied from start to finish with the work Signature did - thrilled may express my response more accurately. Hamid, who designed the bathroom, was a pleasure to work with throughout. On our first consultation he listened to me to ascertain just what I want. He then connected both of us to a Houzz site so I could look for what I liked and he could see what it was. Thanks to his taking some time in the beginning, I was completely happy with his first proposed design. He is an exceptionally talented designer. George, the project manager, wa equally pleasant to work with. He made sure everything ran smoothly; it did. Signature stuck to the budget agreed on in the beginning with no extra charges. The men who did the work are incredibly skilled. They were always on time, worked hard and were polite so not hard to have in my house day after day. Everything was cleaned up at the end of each day and at the end of the project. The finished bathroom is beautiful. I would not hesitate to recommend Signature to anyone contemplating a remodel.

Signature did a complete remodel of our kitchen 4 years ago and we are still amazed by the quality of their work. From the creativity of the design to the execution of the final product, the kitchen has truly become the focal point of our house. The storage space has been increased immensely by utilizing taller cabinets that extend to the ceiling and drawers underneath the island. The lighting is warm and friendly and includes 3 hanging lights over the island. The whole design created a lot of open space that extends all the way to our deck! We highly recommend this company.

The first major project in the never ending renovation of our 1920s home was the gut remodel of the kitchen area, which included reconfiguring the existing footprint to create a back hall with powder room, and a breakfast room. We also remodeled the third floor (which included a bath), and the entire basement, which included an exercise room, media room, and bath. We are experienced home renovators (this was our fifth kitchen!) and were looking for a firm that had the skills to renovate an old structure to very exacting standards. Signature Kitchens met and exceeded our expectations. Joe is an outstanding designer, having a true feel for how everything would integrate in an existing space, giving us a totally up to date kitchen, but with respect for the period details we were looking for. Gary and his team are truly unique, in that they are capable of dealing with the complex problems inevitably encountered in reconstructing old houses. The one minor criticism we would offer relates to project management. Although we recognize that our project was very complex, there were periods of significant downtime that could have been minimized with closer and more frequent oversite. That said, the results were worth the wait. Last (but not least!), the construction crew was the cleanest and most meticulous we have ever had the pleasure of working with. Dust, noise, and debris are an unavoidable part of remodeling, but Gary’s crew kept it all to a minimum and cleaned up after themselves daily. Remarkable! In summary, we can enthusiastically recommend Signature Kitchens.

We had our master bathroom remodeled by Signature Kitchens and found them to be the best out of 8 estimates that we received. Their design, materials and workmanship was as good as promised at a better price than the others. they were very clean and reliable and I would use them again without hesitation.

Signature Kitchens and Baths is almost finished with two complete bathroom renovations and a redo of our flagstone walkway in our home. The designers, project manager and the builders themselves have done wonderful job assisting us with coming up with and carrying out a high level complete remake and modernization of our small circa 1972 bathrooms in our contemporary home. Selection of materials in accord with our taste and our desire to maximize the space was carried out with comfort and patience. The numerous staff members we collaborated with on this major project have been careful to carry out their jobs in a professional and capable manner, and to maintain communication in a timely and effective manner for major and minor details, scheduling of workers and the sequence of construction. . In addition to the typical projects expected for a bathroom reno, we have also had the ceiling raised, and a skylight installed. We look forward to enjoying our beautiful bathrooms for many years to come.
