Anyone who has worked with John Hall has always been impressed by his passion and unwavering enthusiasm for design. Directly after the completion of his interior design degree John jumped headfirst into the Kitchen & Bath industry. 34 years later he is still going strong. Along with being a full-service Kitchen & Bath design firm John also specializes in eDesign in a virtual world. One element that makes John stand out among designers is his belief in using education as a tool. John has been offering design classes for the past 30 years to the Greater Cleveland community. John is a featured speaker at various home shows and has a popular Webinar series that is a real asset to the community. As early as 1984 John has been recognized and awarded for his accomplishments not only in Ohio but all over the country. John is an Allied Member ASID ( American Society of Interior Designers) and has won several awards throughout the years. He is also a member of the NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association) in which he holds the title of Certified Kitchen designer.

We absolutely loved working with John. He was great in helping with the design of our office and laundry room. He made sure to incorporate all our wants and was great about keeping the budget in line. We cannot say enough good things about his work and his coordination with the all the vendors and contractors.

It has been a distinct pleasure to have worked with John on several kitchens over the years. He has been unfailingly creative in his designs and superbly organized. In addition, he is a careful listener and does his utmost to implement a client's vision; being ever respectful of the budget. John is always on task and available throughout the entire process, which has made the collaborative process so rewarding for me.

We hired John to help redesign a basement renovation. Initially things were fine, but as the project went on John began to withhold information relating to the design and was not providing any support despite saying he would do the contrary. In my experience, John has a hard time with critiques relating to his designs and ultimately likes to do things his way, and certainly not to his clients' liking. I cannot in good conscience recommend John as a designer and would encourage you to look elsewhere for design services.

John,

Thanks so much for your input. I respect your thoughts and would like to take a moment to clarify the situation. I enjoyed designing the basement for you folks and am confident you will get many years of enjoyment out of the space. I am grateful that you folks had the confidence in me for my "design only services" in which you contracted to have "conceptual" designs done for your viewing. These drawings were completed. At this point you were asking for technical cabinet information that can only be answered after "working" drawings ( supplied by your cabinet supplier) are completed by the person who was to supply the cabinetry for you. Answers to your technical questions cannot be answered with the conceptual drawings as stated within our agreement. I am sorry as this may have come across as "withholding" information . Even after the conceptual designs were done I went out to the house at no charge to spend hours laying out the conceptual cabinet design along with the electrical design. I know that being a "do-it-yourselfer" creates many challenges and I did whatever I could to assist you. In regards to withholding information we had a meeting in my studio to review things and to get your questions that were within my knowledge answered only to have the meeting cancelled on your end. I would be ever so happy to have you come in and get you the answers that I have the information for on my set of conceptual drawings. The cabinet supplier that you choose will be the one to provide the detailed answers that you have been looking for.

I so wish you the best and enjoy the basement.

We loved the design that John created for our new home. John was able to envision a stunning master bath for such a small space. The kitchen is our dream kitchen. Throughout the whole process, John helped us pick out everything from cabinets to fixtures to counters to appliances.

John Hall has been the designer for several projects in our home, most notably, our kitchen (2015) and master bathroom (2015). Both were in need of change and updating. John came in and had ideas on reconfiguring the spaces that we had never thought of. His designs involved removing a wall and relocating a doorway. Initially I was hesitant, as it was something I had not thought of doing. The changes that were made following his designs have worked perfectly for our family. Our home is so much more functional, and the spaces that were renovated are beautiful! He was very helpful in the selection process of the materials used that would go with the style of our home. He has an eye for the details. John has been a pleasure to work with. He listened to what our needs were and created spaces for us that exceeded our expectations. The contractor that John works closely with, was fantastic as well. We also used John's expertise for finishing our basement (2014) and updating our children's bathroom (2019). Our overall experience has been wonderful. I would highly recommend John Hall for any home renovation design needs you may have.

Our 35 year old kitchen was in need of a major update and we wanted a completely new, open look. John came up with a fantastic design that opened the kitchen to the dining room and another room, totally transforming our entire living space. He was with us, guiding us through the entire process. John was instrumental in the design of our kitchen, dining room, and living room. Meeting with John was the absolute best FIRST step in our very large project. He was able to blend our style together seamlessly- a couple that did not agree on most design elements. John was able to see a vision in our space that we would have never seen on our own. He has the ability to read people and offer logical design that is functional. He was also able to refine our "wants" with our "needs" all within our budget. For anyone thinking of remodeling, building, or upgrading we have strongly encouraged them to consult with John prior. We are so impressed with our end product that we could not have imagined doing this big of a project on our own.

My husband and I knew we hated our kitchen but we had no idea how to fix it, and the thought of doing it alone was completely overwhelming. Fortunately we found John Hall through the Houzz app and hired him to redesign our space. John was very knowledgeable and easy to get along with. He began with educating us on the process so we felt comfortable with the decisions we were about to make. He listened to our pain points and provided us with valuable insights on how to make improvements all while keeping our budget in mind. His enthusiasm for design helped us think outside the box and enjoy the process instead of fear it. We are beyond thrilled with the end result and now have a kitchen that is beautiful and functions so much better for our family.

We discovered John at one of the home improvement tradeshows where we attended one of his seminars. The next spring we visited his studio for a kitchen and bath design class; a year later, we finally got around to hiring him to manage the renovation of our kitchen and bathrooms, as well as updates to other areas of the house. The house was built in 1960 and never updated til now, so John (and contractor Jim) had their work cut out for them despite its small size. Throughout the process - nearly 8 months from signing to completion - John kept us updated and on schedule. His service contacts (painting, flooring, appliances, HVAC, windows, etc.) treated us with great care. It's a year later and we are still pinching ourselves at the transformation he helped us achieve. We LOVE our new home! Friends and family are amazed at what was accomplished. (I've attached a few before and after combo photos of the kitchen and a separate before (pink tile!) and after of the master bath.) We would definitely recommend John to anyone wanting a one-stop-shop renovation experience.

Our Hall Design Group projects included a kitchen, master bath, laundry/mud room, bookcases, powder room and a guest bath completed between 2011 and 2015. We have done many home renovation projects both before and after our opportunity to work with John, so I can compare John to multiple other design professionals in Cleveland and other cities. John is, by far, the very best we have worked with. He listened to what we wanted, asked great questions, and reconfigured each space to make the kitchen/bath/etc. more functional and more beautiful than I envisioned. He has top-quality contractors and vendors and works with them closely to make sure the project is done according to plan and within budget. Kitchens, in particular, require an expert for functionality, clearances, lighting, outlet placement. John focuses on these details as well as the overall vision. Most important, he is trustworthy and he keeps his word! (Photos are before and after of our kitchen remodel).

The Hall Design Group was referred by our trusted contractor to design a new master bath. We were very impressed with John's professionalism, fee options, attention to detail, and his openness in listening to our design input. He worked with our contractor and came up with a great design. The project was completed timely and within budget.(not with standing the challenges of the pandemic) The bathroom looks absolutely beautiful. We would highly recommend The Hall Design Group to family and friends.

We have used John on 3 separate occasions. The kitchen twice and our master bathroom. We went to John for a simple reason, he is good at what he does. John is a stickler for schedules, he communicates weekly on the plan for each week, and I never found myself chasing him to finish a project. If you are looking for an inexpensive renovation, John is not your man. He is geared to high quality finishes, and appliances. John is the best in his field.
