Upscale Remodeling was founded in 1991 and has been serving our Ithaca community for more than 30 years, but our roots in the area go back centuries. The ancestors of our founder, Steve Nash, settled the Ellis Hollow/Snyder Hill area in the early 1800s and built some of the region’s first homes. Steve learned building by working with his father and grandfather from the age of nine. More importantly, he learned to never compromise and never cut corners. These values still guide us to this day, ensuring that every project is not merely a job but a testament to our commitment to excellence. At Upscale Remodeling, we’re not just remodeling homes; we’re building a legacy. Upscale Remodeling has done several projects for us over the past few years -- renovating a basement office, updating our kitchen, and most recently remodeling our living room and staircase and rebuilding our deck. Each of the projects involved different challenges and Upscale came up with great solutions in every case. They worked with us to develop a vision and a specific plan - from the major elements down to the trim - and implemented it beautifully. Upscale owner Steve Nash and all employees are exceptionally talented, easy to work with and take pride in their work. We recommend them highly!

Our remodeling project with Upscale was large and complex with many structural questions that had to be solved on the fly. Throughout the process, we were impressed with the professionalism of all involved, the very obvious commitment to quality, the creative design assistance provided, and the high quality of the finished products. Any questions we had and any minor fixes that were needed were addressed quickly and effectively. We stayed in our home throughout the process and enjoyed having all involved in our home. Upscale is a top notch, professional organization producing fine results.

We have hired Upscale over the years for several jobs of varying degrees of complexity, including repairing a leaking roof that no previous contractor had been able to fix, renovating two bathrooms, repairing a corner of our old barn which was sinking into the ground, and replacing a number of old windows. These are professionals who work patiently to figure out all of the complexities of the job at hand before undertaking it, and once they get started, the work is handled efficiently and neatly. They can be trusted to provide a fair estimate, to do everything they can to satisfy what the client wants, and to follow up as needed. Unlike any other Ithaca remodeling contractor we have hired previously, Upscale guarantees their work. We first hired Upscale Remodeling in the summer of 1994 to put a 600 sq. ft. addition onto our house, including a bedroom, full bathroom, hallway, several closets, storage room, laundry room, and utility room. They did an excellent job, making many suggestions that greatly improved the project. About 2008 we also hired them to remodel a bathroom in the original part of the house. That project was also excellently done. If I should ever need additional work done on the house I would not call anyone except Upscale Remodeling. They are exceptionally professional and provide excellent ideas to improve whatever project they work on.

With the strong recommendation of a local building supply firm, I hired Upscale Remodeling about ten years ago to replace all the windows and exterior doors of my 1936 home. Working with Steve Nash and his crew was a pleasure from start to finish. Their work is outstanding. My respect for their professionalism is such that we hired them two years ago to completely remodel the kitchen and a bathroom. All through the design and building stages, Steve and his crew were top-notch. They take great pride in their work, and I know that future owners of this house will enjoy and be as grateful for the quality of Upscale’s work as we are now.

“Upscale Remodeling did two jobs for us. The first involved an innovative design solution to a 20 year old stairway problem in our house. The second was a major addition that included a master suite, laundry room, breakfast room, deck and workshop. Each project started with patient listening, suggestions and more listening so that Steve knew what we wanted and we thoroughly understood all the options to achieve our goals. My wife and I are familiar with wood working and construction. As each project proceeded, we were amazed at the quality of the workmanship and refusal to cut corners. The crew were friendly, professional and went out of their way to make the project as least intrusive as possible. Both projects ended with high value products meeting all of our expectations at a reasonable final cost. We were left with the feeling that satisfied customers and quality work are more important to Steve Nash than making money. If you want a quality job at a fair price, we can't think of a single reason not to hire Upscale Remodeling. We highly recommend Upscale to everyone - with no hesitation.”
