“I did a lot of research on landscaping services and based on reviews decided to check out Past the Gate. Loved the whole feel of the website so I called Greg and made an appointment. Greg came out and met with my husband and I and actually “interviewed” us to get a good feel of what we like. For example he asked our favorite vacation spots which was very intuitive (you like water, mountains, dessert, the English country side – he’ll work it into your plan), how much work we wanted to do in the yard, what the budget was, etc. He really listened and came back with an amazing landscape design which required very minor tweaking. I do want to warn you, especially those who have never had anything like this done, it is expensive. Given the amount of money we spent I do have a couple of nitpicks. We were not consulted on the plants. Even though I would have likely gone with everything Greg picked out (he knows his stuff), it would have been nice to be involved. I had several rose bushes that I loved and wanted to reuse them in the new plan or give them to friends. Some of them were used but the others disappeared. The last 5% of the project (the punch list stuff, finishing touches) took a while to get through. Out of the entire project I can honestly say there are only four things that I am not thrilled with. Overall, we’re extremely pleased. I sit in my backyard with a big smile on my face. Greg is an artist and it’s reflected in his work.”

“John Montgomery is hands down one of the best architects that I work with. He is extremely knowledgable due to the years of installation experience he had prior to becoming an architect. John's attention to detail on the plan is second to none, and his ability to communicate with his clients and contractors on-site is an asset to all involved. The staff that he has surrounded himself with also helps keep his machine flowing effortlessly. Anytime we here at Hacienda Pools have the opportunity to bid and work on one of his projects we jump at the opportunity. I feel what contributes to the accuracy of his plan is how throughly his interview process is, I would without hesitation recommend John Montgomery, and I do often.”

“Form & Function did a complete overhaul of my back, front and side yard, and I couldn't be happier. The project was really extensive; I did everything from landscaping to hardscaping and a new fence. I've also never done a renovation before and have only heard horror stories about contractors, so I was hesitant to jump in. All of that said, I was pleasantly surprised at every turn working with Form & Function. Luis was incredibly mindful of balancing my budget with what I wanted, and gave smart recommendations along the way. His team was also fantastic. We ran up against tough weather, but they still managed to keep the timeline on track and they were a delight to have around. The yard looks absolutely wonderful and I've gotten so many compliments on it. It was a such a great experience, from the planning to execution, and even now the team is following up asking about the plants and if I have any questions. I will always go to Form & Function for any outdoor work I need done and will recommend them heartily to everyone and anyone.”
