“When we searched Houzz looking for an artistic Japanese maple to plant outside one of our front windows most of the beautiful trees came from Pendleton. We contacted them about buying a tree. They told us they didn’t sell trees, they only did complete landscapes but would be happy to look at our property and make some recommendations. The founder of Pendelton, Steve Pendleton, came by to look at our property and met with us. We live in the center of Salt Lake City on a 0.13 acre close to a major traffic artery. We just wanted to look out our windows to see something more than our neighbors’ homes, a string of driveways, and a street Designs lined with parked cars. It was obvious from the beginning that Steve loves trees and water and rocks and understands the healing power they have. Although much of their work is on very expensive properties in Park City Steve caught the vision of what we were looking for and was excited to work with us. Steve graciously showed us two large properties he had landscaped. The beauty and healing power of his work along with his enthusiasm for what he does completely drew us in. Pendleton Designs is a family business. Steve has a long history with plants and landscaping. He loves trees and water and rocks and understands their healing power. His oldest son, Matt, majored in art in college and does the overall designs. His youngest son, Joshua, has a strong connection to the elements of nature, to the earth, and to the natural balance of all things. They worked together to create our design. While we knew the feeling we wanted to create we could not envision what it should look like. Pendleton showed us a color sketch of for our yard that included a stream and we knew right away it was perfect. We agreed on the spot to move ahead and set up the timeline for the project. They started when they said they would and completed the project as promised. It was hard to believe how beautiful it was. Pendleton Design captured that feeling of what we wanted better than we could have imagined it. My cousin, who got her love for plants and flowers from her father, a lifelong agriculture agent, gasped when she first saw our yard. She said it looked like something that no human person could create. It was as if every rock, tree, and path has been there naturally for all time. Now we have beautiful views wherever we look outside our home. It would not, however, be complete without the stream. We never dreamed we could have a stream on our small lot. The stream looks so natural another cousin said he did not remember us having a real stream in our yard. Even though the houses on either side of us are only about 25 feet away our backyard is now secluded and we rarely hear the traffic. We spend a good portion of our time at home outside in the yard or inside with the doors open. It takes only one or two deep breaths to release the cares of the day before we begin to enjoy the peacefulness and beauty that surrounds us. We are refreshed by the sound of the stream and renewed by the healing power of the trees and rocks. I am unable to put into words the healing power and beauty our landscape now has for us.”
