In response to our unhappy client, we always strive to exceed client's expectations.
We understand that some client's need more hand-holding than others, and we are here to educate our client's because most of the time, they do not know, which is why they hire us.
The timeline was thrown off because they allowed time to pass between our proposal being sent and when they actually executed. They need to understand that if others sign in the interim, they are going to be pushed back. This client had a lot of plant material that was to be inventoried and transplanted, and the initial "go ahead" on their part was very vague, "we'll talk about that when we get there" was the response. He wanted to talk about every little thing being planted and the method behind it. Not trying to be rude, but if we did this for each client, we would be bankrupt. At some point, you have to trust the professionals. We have been featured on five tv shows (Yard Crashers & HGTV) as well as been published many times over. My husband and I have 45 years in the business collectively. I think we have proven our skills.
Many times I emailed him the time line, the schedule and what was happening and he would text me "what's the plan?" So I would repeat myself = time wasted.
We had four soil and mulch deliveries that week, and yes, my vendor made an error and delivered the wrong amount to both projects. Thank you to my client who brought it to my attention (before I rectified the job costs.). I had already sent him the invoice because he short paid on previous invoice, and told my husband he would pay the rest (which had not been paid at the time I billed).
He also failed to mention that we installed 15 yards of mulch, and it rained an unprecedented amount in Dallas that next day, washing away part of the mulch into his neighbors pool. This is considered an act of Mother Nature, which is not covered, but because we go above and beyond, we paid for the neighbors pool to be drained by the cleaning company and the pipes cleaned by a plumber. We didn't have to do that, but we did.
We are human and sometimes our subs, vendors or ourselves will make a mistake. We pride ourselves on how we recover from the mistake and doing the right thing. Overall, their landscape was miles above where they started, hopefully they are happy with our hard work.
