Alterra Landscape Design

Jeffery Riddle from Alterra Landscape Design was a pleasure to work with. We recently built a pergola, outdoor kitchen, fire pit and upgraded landscaping in our back yard. The project went smoothly from start to finish. Jeff, Hugo and his crew were professional, clean, measured and remeasured, asked questions, and took pride in the job. Materials used and craftmanship are exceptional. We were very involved in the decision making and Jeff encouraged our involvement. Jeff and Hugo had clever ideas in the design of the pergola and fire pit and worked hard on every detail (big to small). Hugo and the crew showed up everyday and worked continuously. We were very impressed and pleased with the crews work ethic. My husband and I highly recommend Jeff and Alterra Landscape Design. Not only did we get a great outdoor space but we made a great friend.

Jeff and his team did an awesome job with our backyard remodel. I was amazed at how quickly they were able to get a major project like that completed so fast. New flagstone patio, custom concrete pavers, river rock boarder, mulch around the play ground, and AstroTurf all in two weeks. We are so happy with our new space!

We used Alterra for our front landscaping project and we couldn't be more pleased. I loved using pinterest as our starting point and I feel like Jeffery hit the nail on the head with the look we wanted while also making sure the plants would thrive in our very shady front.

Alterra has completed two projects at our home (most recent completed in March 2020) and we have been very pleased. We LOVE our outdoor space created by Alterra. Jeff’s crew was great! Alterra coordinated with Southwind Pools to provide the perfect backyard oasis.

Jeff and his crew did an amazing job on our landscape. We worked together on the design, Jeff let me pick out all the plants and trees at the nursery, and the installation crew had it all planted in 2 days, including hardscapes and a firepit (unexpected add to the scope!). The best part was that they set all the plants out in place per the design (not planted, still in pots) and gave us a day to study and see if we wanted to move or change anything. You can't really tell how the spacing, plant height, & color combinations are going to work until you actually see it in place. They want you to LOVE your landscape, so they are very accommodating and understanding with changes. They programmed the sprinkler system to adequately water the new landscape, and 2 months later, all my plants look great! It was the easiest home improvement project I've ever had, and I get tons of compliments.

I hired Jeff and his team to design and install the transformation of my back yard. They took my vision and made it a reality. It could not have turned out better. I get so many complements and have gotten so much enjoyment out of my new space.

Jeff and his team did a a great job on our patio design and build out. We have a giant live oak with tons of shade so had to give up on grass. Jeff found a great mix of plants and functional surfaces to make our backyard functional and green. We were also happy with follow up on lingering items that needed to be addressed which come with a larger project.

Where to start?! First, I am a known killer of plants so it was really important that I had a yard that required low maintenance and skill. Secondly, I also needed someone that could look at my small yard (that consists mainly of a pool) and give me a design that was both lush and manageable. I interviewed a lot of companies, but so many people's designs had no aesthetic to them. Enter Jeff Riddle of Alterra. He brought the "A" game and I was sold. He stayed within my budget and he gave me what I was looking for and honestly I had no idea what I was looking for until I saw it. Colorful. Architectural. Low Maintenance. Amazing. I don't know how else to express just how happy I am with his workmanship. In addition, he has the most fabulous team. They are on time, considerate and fantastic at what they do. I work at home so I saw them on a daily basis and watched how they work. Now go call Jeff and get your beautiful yard on!

Alterra is AWESOME! We had a very rough idea of what we wanted, and Jeff helped us to create a fantastic idea for our dream patio within our budget. We trusted him with the ultimate layout and design, and he completely followed through with a space that is exactly our style and that exceeded all of our expectations! Once we got started, the process was expedient and efficient, and the QUALITY of the project is outstanding. The end product is now our new favorite spot to hang out!! We are outside all the time now, which is exactly what we wanted, and we are so excited to share our new space with family and friends. Thank you, Jeff! Jeff and his highly skilled team transformed our outdated/mostly dead front landscape into a chic, modern design that was truly unique to our simplistic mid-century modern home. I can't say enough positive things about our experience working with Jeff. He is not only extremely talented at what he does, but his communication throughout the project was outstanding, too. We needed guidance and expertise when it came to just about everything - design, materials, trees, plants - and Jeff surpassed all of our expectations. I'll be honest, by the end of the project, we were a little sad to say goodbye! Jeff and his team did a fantastic job in transforming our backyard! He listened carefully to our thoughts, added his creative ideas and expertise, and the work began. All were professional, clean and detailed in their work, and the project was completed within our timeframe. Jefferey is a good communicator and was very active in the project from onset to finish. Jeff came up with a beautiful design to make the most of our small yard. He oversaw the entire project including a pool installation and his attention to detail was amazing. The stunning result is now a gorgeous extension of our home.

Jeff and his team did an amazing reconstruction of our backyard. Jeff met with us several times to incorporate our ideas and discuss his suggestions. Throughout our entire project he kept his fully informed and made sure no detail was left out. The end result is amazing. While you can get a vision of the project from his detailed drawings, the final product shows Jeff’s skill and expertise. Thanks to Jeff and his team we now have a beautiful backyard that we will enjoy for many years.

It was a fantastic experience working with Jeff. He was able to differentiate between true requirements and crazy design wants, and helped us explore through the design process so we could land on the right mix. He was transparent about pricing, responsive to questions and changes, and kept the project on schedule. His crews were very respectful of our property and obviously proud of their craftsmanship. I found Jeffery Riddle and Alterra on Houzz. He took care of all permits and dealing with my HOA. The project was designed in a professional manner. The project was started and completed in two weeks. The rain held off, the labor showed on time and there were no complaints from neighbors about any inconveniences. I gave my real estate agent Jeffery's card. Alterra built a pagoda on a slab extending my existing porch. They installed river rock on the sides of the house and two flower beds with plants. They also reconfigured the sprinklers.

We are so happy we found Jeff and his team to redo our small backyard, which included taking down 2 huge trees. Jeff listens and very tactfully orients our suggestions (because sometimes they are unrealistic ;p-) when necessary. From the initial planning to on-time delivery we felt confident and very comfortable. We love our new backyard!

Jeff and his team did a fantastic job creating the perfect mid-century modern, front yard -- all with water and sun-friendly, low water/low maintenance plants. We met with him once and he was able to translate our style and decor inside our home and extended it to the front of our home. The work took less than a week and his team were professionals and they care and take pride in the work that they do. I can't wait to start phase 2!

I engaged Jeff to completely re-do my front landscape. It looks absolutely amazing! My home is new construction and had builder grade landscaping. Jeff has a great design "eye" and I believe has added value to my house. His team was very professional and so easy to work with. They cleaned the area each night before they left. The project was completed on time and within budget. I will be engaging Jeff again for the backyard.

I found my forever home but the yard looked like a wild jungle!!! I searched and found Jeff, told him what I wanted and POOF! My dream house had a dream yard. He listens. He keeps you up to date. The workman are fantastic. I started with the back yard. New deck, new fence, landscape. Couple of months later we fixed up the front. My neighbors can't stop talking about it. Jeff is fantastic. He is very creative and knowledgeable about his craft. Earlier this year I approached Jeff about helping us with our yard. Over the last couple of years several plants in the front yard had died. We were also having some rainwater runoff issues. Jeff and I agreed on a budget based on other similar projects he had done. He produced drawings based on our wish list and his expertise. He modified the plans until we were happy. The removal and installation crew was friendly and hard working. We felt like they worked quickly anddid an awesome job. The result is that our front yard is beautiful. We have had neighbors that we don't know compliment the landscape when they walk by. We think you will be very happy with Jeff Riddle and Alterra.

My biggest issue with landscapers is that they didn't listen so when I first contacted Jeffrey that's what I told him. He not only listened but has become a family friend. Their work is beautiful, professional and they spent a huge amount of time with us reviewing drawings asking us questions to make sure they got it right. They stand behind their work. I was invited to go out to wholesale nursery and actually choose and tag plants. It has been amazing from start to finish and we are now ready to do the backyard. Our house looks so amazing that we have people driving by and slowing down to take pictures! Couldn't be more pleased. Jeffrey organized a run to Houston and we sent almost $9000.00 of goods including water, dog food, diapers, formula and more on their landscaping trucks. Jeffrey drove the truck down and back in one day. We took some pictures. He and his company are amazing people.

Working with Jeff and Alterra to transform our front landscaping was a delight, and the results exceeded every expectation we had of how the finished design would look. His selection of plant sizes, colors, and varieties were terrific. His use of boulders and river rocks were the perfect accents to the project. Jeff was easy to work with, explained the care needs for each type of plant, and 6 months later it looks like we have always had beautiful landscaping. Our son worked with Jeff on landscaping his home recently and the results were equally stunning. We heartily endorse Jeff and Alterra.
