Every day that I look out on our courtyard I’m grateful I met Kai and CA Eco Design. From the initial consultation to the design process to the implementation and all the highly detailed custom work, it is a masterpiece of landscaping. They are professional, committed, talented, and great to work with. And their landscaping speaks for itself. 10/10.

Kai and his team have been wonderful. I had high expectations. I wanted a natural feel, but comfortable for people. Encourage the bird, butterflies, bees and squirrels to enjoy the yard. Had to California native, drought tolerant, ocean friendly, easy maintenance an beautiful. I grew up in California and wanted something that reminded me of the canyons and mountains I played in. Workers were on site before 8 every morning ready. Tore out my weeds and left a lovely oasis.

Kai and his team were very professional throughout the whole design and implementation of our lawn to garden project. We live in Long Beach and the city offers reimbursement for every square foot of lawn converted. Luckily, Kai knew the process very well and was able to guide me through each step. Kai also listened to our design needs and budget. I would highly recommend Kai and California Eco Design to anyone looking to re-design their front or back yard!

We worked with Kai to design the landscaping for a new home that included a challenging backyard hillside. Kai's design exceeded expectations. He has vision and imagination plus understands what is practical. We chose to implement the design with Kai and his Team. They were the best contractors we've ever worked with. The project was on-time and delivered what was promised. The landscaping and hillside are picturesque, artistic, balanced and useable. We now enjoy using the backyard but also looking at it from the inside of the house. We look forward to entertaining in 2021. Kai was flexible with ideas and input. Our yard looks great. We went from an overgrown backyard and a dying water-intensive front lawn to a worry-free, drought tolerant home in the front and back yards. Kai worked out our drainage/flooding issues, installed plants and fruiting trees and used innovative thinking to make the hardscape look amazing. They drip irrigation and outdoor lighting Kai installed also work great. Our favorite feature currently is the seating area at the back of the yard. That area has become a haven for us during the pandemic. It's not in the house and not "just on the patio", but it is at home and we can go there for a change of pace and scenery. The butterflies and birds that come to visit the trees make it a lively place to sit and watch nature. Also after about 4 years the plants and shrubs have really filled out and look better than they did when first planted.

We recently hired California Eco Design to creative a beautiful drought resistant California native front yard. He came up with a beautiful design and installed it about a month ago! His team were very efficient, clean, and friendly. We love our new landscaping and get comments on it from all our neighbors. We have been referring him to everyone! Now we need his expertise for our backyard!!!!!

I would hire Kai and his team over and over again. We hit a wall with our front and back landscaping project. We'd been through 2 contractors that had stalled and left and we were desperate. He executed our plans perfectly, implementing his own great ideas to improve the project as needed. They finished on time, on budget and were willing to add this and that as we kept adding stuff. When the home and garden tour came through our neighborhood they knocked on our door even though we weren't participating, it was THAT dreamy. Highest possible recommendation!

After receiving several bids, we chose Kai because he truly listens, is thoughtful (about his approach, the environment, the maintenance, and factors you might not have even considered yourself), and engages in each project in a customized fashion. We converted our front and back yards into drought tolerant gardens with zero prior knowledge of landscaping, and he was wonderful about our many questions and plant-pickiness. His crew is hardworking and kindhearted and the entire team has shown that they care about how our gardens are faring well past installation. We highly recommend Kai and California Eco Design.

I had an outstanding experience with CA ECO Design. They did front yard at my house. The project included design and implementation. The project was finished on schedule and to exact budget. I also wanted to mention that Kai (owner), has really helped me. When selling the property, a large branch fell from the tree and damaged the fence during last week of escrow, while I was out of the country. Kai and his team, cleaned the mess and repaired the fence all in time to allow me to close the escrow.

Kai and his crew were great, did what they said they would do and listened to our feedback and input. I highly recommend Kai and Eco Design highly. We wanted a drought tolerant yard and we got it! He was able to incorporate old, planted specimens that were already in the yard, into the new design and everything looks cohesive. At least 3 other people in the neighbohood wanted to know who did our yard so they could contact him. I would absolutely use Eco Design again.

Kai redesigned and implemented both the front and rear landscaping at my Mother's home, utilizing low water use plantings and watering systems. I am very happy with his work and highly recommend California Eco Design. I'm not sure of the exact dates, the rear yard was done first, followed by the front yard about 6-12 months later.

Kai did an amazing job transforming by lawn into a beautiful, native-plant filled landscape- complete with a rain garden. He offers a range of services- from consultation to completing the entire project- so you can choose what you need based on your budget. He was great to work with and always responsive. I can't recommend him highly enough.

California Eco Design did the design of our yard. We were participating in Long Beach's Lawn to Garden program and right from the start Kai Craig could navigate both the City's requirement and our unique aesthetic. His designs were beautiful and thorough. I cannot recommend anyone more highly than Kai.

California Eco Design not only designed my new landscaping but expertly installed and maintains it. The design by Kai was more than I could have imagined.
