We are very pleased with the City Garden Company services, their staff and team workers. They have created a fantastic design plan for hardscaping our backyard and have executed everything in the most professional way, meeting 100% our expectations. The result is very impressive. They have truly transformed the look of our backyard with a perfect hardscape to use a very sloped/ difficult terrain, as well as solving our drainage issues. They installed a beautiful and inviting gravel path with large slate steps alongside of the house and around the deck. They have also built a very substantial feature - the wonderful retention wall with boulders in the slope by the deck, and from down there, they created 2 spacious retained flattened areas, covered with gravels for a veggie garden and fire pit area. We are so happy to have it done, and we would highly recommend City Garden Landscaping and hardscaping services.

From our first meeting with Patrick Bell of City Garden Co, we were hooked. His team completely transformed our rather decrepit backyard into a garden oasis. The granite and bluestone hardscaping is impeccably finished, and the choice of plantings seems perfect - in all seasons - for a space that has both sunny spots and fully shaded areas. Patrick expertly addressed some significant drainage issues on our property, fortifying a storm drain that now prevents the flooding to which we were accustomed during heavy rains. His team also managed to excavate a large area with a 2 foot change in elevation, creating a beautiful stone patio that now extends seamlessly to the feature lawn beyond. Patrick and the entire City Garden team did an amazing job transforming and cement garage slab into a beautiful flagstone patio with two seat walls and then landscaping my entire lot. We had a number of hurdles to overcome given some county zoning restrictions but the City Garden team was very patient and helpful throughout. We've done three major landscape projects with City Garden. In each case, we gave them a blank canvas - they went from concept to design to execution to ongoing care, creating the most beautiful masterpieces we could imagine. These include a native layout around our zero energy house, a raised garden vegetable and flower garden adjacent to our pool and a full landscape around our party barn. The pricing is always fair and the projects have proceeded in a timely and efficient manner. Patrick has advised us on other aspects of our property, including referral of various other trades. Everything about working with City Garden Co has been fabulous! Our yard was not a place we wanted to spend time- there was ivy everywhere and we had a mud pit instead of a patio. It was a large project- we needed to redirect water, install a patio and fire pit, add lighting, add a garden area and of course we needed plants that weren’t ivy. And we needed to do all of that while thinking about our dogs and our kid and how we wanted to enjoy our yard. From the beginning of our conversations with them, the office crew responded quickly to emails and was patient as we made tons of edits to the plans. Patrick came onsite multiple times to chat with us about our project and the plans. When work began they did an outstanding job of keeping us in the loop on the progress and again were super patient with us as we asked for tweaks. We can’t believe our yard looks the way it does. City Garden redid our entire backyard, putting in lawn space, multiple retaining walls, a patio, and a firepit. Working with Patrick and City Garden Company was likely the best experience with a contractor we have ever had. We had a LARGE project, and there were hiccups and weather issues and design changes and Patrick never missed a beat. I did a lot of research before deciding to go with City Garden and I'm glad I did. My project wasn't a huge one, but for me figuring out a design was a little tricky due to terrain, view of neighbors and quirky space. They came up with a design that was perfect - very cute but not fussy and boy what a difference. It really completed the look of our house. City Garden helped with the concept and design for our front yard landscaping. We especially needed help with water flow and soil erosion since our yard is on a slope - a real challenge. They had that engineering expertise, as well as the knowledge of electrical installation for lighting. I came with ideas, which they worked with and were open to cooperating. It's a small company so it takes a while to get on their schedule. But once they do come at the arranged dates, they work hard and reliably. I was surprised how they could really gauge the timing correctly. Kudos all around!

We had a major backyard project with 2 pathways leading to a raise fire pit surrounded by crushed slate. There is a poured foundation and birds to keep it level and it was tied into our existing deck for seamless walking. It is beautiful! I can now stroll barefoot from the back door Down the decks, to the center of the yard with the pit all without touching bare ground. Beyond anything we had imagined. The installation was so fast, about a week. Our backyard also is slightly sloped with runoff issues but the entire project was completely level with plenty of drainage. The pit itself is amazing, with a drain in the center to allow water to flow out and away from the area. Danielle and crew were a pleasure to work with, answered all of our questions and concerns, and even came back to help with another unexpected runoff issue. This was done during our currency pandemic and everyone was great about social distancing if we needed to chat outside. They were also completely comfortable with our 3 big dogs, the whole protect was a fabulous experience. I would have not know they were out there working if I didn’t peek my head out the door, they were that quiet. I can’t wait till we have our first big post-covid party to show it off. We would totally hire them again.

Patrick Bell, Danielle Calenti and the City Garden team delivered a top-notch project for us at our Mid-Century modern home in Atlanta. We ripped out and restructured the entire front yard and planting along the driveway. The project was executed in two phases. During planning we carefully curated plant selection given deer in the neighborhood, and significant variation in light/shade/water conditions around the property. The team sent photos of specimen trees from nurseries for our selection. We used corten steel edging for featured beds along the front walkway. The project came in on time and on budget. We are delighted.

Everything went well. My consultation was great and my new grassy area looks beautiful. They recommended and delivered just what we needed for our space and budget. Communication in person was great and everyone was friendly and laid back. After installation, I was told that they were available anytime for any questions or support, which is reassuring for someone who has no clue about plants. If I can be completely honest, if I could do 4.75 stars, I might. There was a period of time (a couple weeks) after I had paid the down payment where I heard nothing about scheduling. I decided to send an email to make sure the ball was still rolling and was told they would know about scheduling me within the week. On the 12th day after that, I sent another email to check and received one immediately with a date for installation. I might just be a jumpy customer, but I personally need more communication when a downpayment has been made. This is my only nitpick, though, as I said. The yard is beautiful and we are so glad we had City Garden do it for us.

City Garden Co. was quick to respond to my online inquiry which I love! And was also quick to develop landscape plans. Patrick and his team landscaped my front and back yard as when we first moved in we have basic horrible builder special. He also added a stone patio on the back of our house. He also did some drainage work. I also use his team to maintenance my yard on a quarterly basis. I have only great things so say and we love our yard now. We get a lot of compliments too.

Patrick and his team were prompt, polite and hard working. The entire design was completely thought out to avoid any problems that could arise later down the road. We are looking forward to phase 2 this fall when the plants go in.

We hired City Garden Company to first help us with a complete design plan for our 1960s ranch where we have lived for 12 years. Much of the landscape was outdated, the fence and patio were falling to disrepair and some of the original shrubs and trees were either overgrown or in need of replacement. In addition, we have battled on -going water drainage problems which caused the pine straw in the natural areas to wash away along with drowning our sod. City Garden has provided not only a beautiful plan for us, including hardscape and landscape, but also provided consultation and solutions to the drainage problems. Patrick's knowledge of landscape design and installation is extensive so the upfront planning time was well worth the investment. What we love most is that they listen to our ideas, take into consideration our lifestyle and our dogs, and work very hard to create the type of space that feels like home. They have been flexible to work with us in building our new landscape in phases so that we can work within our budget and also minimize disruption for our little dogs. We cannot say enough about the professionalism and attention to quality and detail that this team has. We have been working on our yard in phases and so far each project has come in on budget and on time. The workmanship is incredible and we can't wait to enjoy our full garden when we're done. Our house was in desperate need of some landscaping but my wife and I had no clue where to start. Patrick and the City Garden team not only helped us build a vision for our yard but they also executed upon that vision, working our input into the process all along the way. We hired City Garden to help us with landscaping and driveway issues - to say this project is a huge undertaking does not even begin to describe it! We have been so busy working on the inside of our house since we purchased it 2 years ago, but have not been able to even touch the outside. Patrick and his crew have been very good at helping us see the potential in our property. They are laid-back and easy to work with, if you have no idea where to start or how to go about an idea, Patrick is great with getting the vision started, and he is very good at working with any ideas you have to make it all come together. We have finished a big portion of the project, but will not be starting plantings until this fall, due to the EXTREME heat we have to deal with this summer, so the photos I post will seem a bit underdone, but I will update with new photos as the project continues. We had to deal with massive trees (I think the total was 8) that needed to be removed, LOTS of clearing out of underbrush, walkway and steps to front entrance, water runoff issues, crumbling drive way and park pad issues, grading... and that is all just the beginnings of this project! So far, we are VERY happy with the work - there have been some minor details that have needed adjusting, but that is all typical in the scope of a project like this one, we tend to be flexible and patient which helps with any project you take on. With the heat (a number of days were in the 98º-102º range!) and the amount of work needed, the project only went over about 1 week as originally estimated - we were very surprised at how quickly everything was done, to be honest. Patrick and crew have proven they can handle tough, bigger jobs and I highly recommend checking them out for any project you need help taking on.

I had a backyard with a ripped out rotting deck, soil erosion, buried concrete, and drainage issues. I needed a retaining wall and a space where I did not have to do a lot of maintenance. I hoped for something nice and within my limited budget. I got something amazing. In the space of two weeks, Thomas, Nathanial, and Patrick created a backyard both my mom, my cat, and I love. They exceeded my expectations and managed to create an environment that makes me smile every time I look out the kitchen window. The guys were patient with my questions and I'm still stunned that Thomas managed to get a Bobcat into my backyard without taking out my fence or Japanese Maples. The people who work at City Garden Company are incredibly professional and dedicated to their craft. I am very happy to have waited for them and grateful that they took me on as a project. City Garden Company completed a project for my front yard that included some hardscape features and plantings that lessened the amount of yard space I needed to tend to. Each of the staff members I interacted with were resourceful and conscientious. I wanted a place where I could greet nature and become part of it while also creating an entertaining space for friends. Patrick at City Garden Company was able to envision a space that allowed me to use my outdoor space in ways I had not considered. Patrick's diligence in preparing a plan with clear goals allowed for this outdoor space to come to life. Along the way adjustments had to be made and inspiration from him and myself made the space even better. His workers were professional and worked hard day in and day out. Here's the thing. When you imagine ideal landscape and horticulture professionals in your mind, they are the people of City Garden Company. I don't mean to put too fine a point on it, but Patrick literally has a pair of hand pruners in a holster on his belt. This past spring, as I was planning the installation of a reading garden at my children's school, a friend of mine introduced me to Patrick Bell with City Garden Company. Our PTO ended up hiring him to do the work at the school, and I was so impressed with his amiability, his work ethic, and his professionalism, that I hired him to landscape our backyard. My husband and I had solicited several landscape designs over the years, and at one point had even had a stone patio, fire pit, and large retaining wall installed in our backyard as a means of better utilizing the sloped landscape behind our house, but not only did we end up with less than stellar stonework, we also ended up with extreme drainage problems that were eroding our yard. We hired City Garden Company to help solve our drainage problems and to improve the beauty and utility of our backyard space. I met with Patrick to discuss our hopes for our yard and to show him pictures of the kinds of garden spaces I liked. I really appreciated how he listened to me and my husband and was able to incorporate all the details we wanted into a yard with preexisting structures. I could tell when I saw the plan that he had put a tremendous amount of thought, time, and care into it. He was able to take the disjointed elements of our house, our small deck, the ill-designed retaining wall, our sloped yard, and a trampoline, and redesign them in a way that brought harmony and flow to our yard. Everything now ties together seamlessly and couldn't be more inviting. Once work began, I could tell right away that Patrick was a perfectionist. I couldn't believe his precision with stonework. Seeing his work next to the stonework we'd had done previously made we wish I'd met him years ago. He's an artist. He turned the wooded wilderness behind our house into a lovely haven where my family will enjoy spending time together for many years. Aside from City Garden Company's beautiful work, they are also professional and timely in their execution of the project. Despite several rain delays, Patrick always stayed in contact with us and kept us abreast of their progress, so I never felt that we were being neglected. They worked hard to finish the project in a timely manner without sacrificing quality of craftsmanship. In addition, City Garden Company's billing is also clear and straightforward. I appreciated knowing the cost of the project in advance. Patrick gave us an itemized invoice and contract at the beginning. As we progressed through the project, Patrick openly and frankly discussed anything that may alter the cost, such as plant availability, so there were never any surprises or hidden fees. I appreciated that he remained cognizant of our budget and true to our agreements. I have already recommended Patrick and City Garden Company to several people. I cannot rave enough about the quality of their work and professionalism. We hope to have them return to address our front yard next. We have an old garden that needed a new life. Patrick started the project by finding out what we would like to see in the backyard garden and how we use the space.
