Pat and Noah care about their work, are skilled and take it seriously, which feels more rare than it used to. We love our yard and are so thankful. Our newly built home was in the middle of very wet mud hole. Cloonan and team found the fill dirt needed, connected the down spouts and sump pump and ran it all the way to the ditch by the road, this changed everything, before this our sump pump couldn't even keep up with the water flow during a heavy rain. In addition to solving the water problem, the design looks great, Pat's expertise in plant selection was very helpful, we didn't have to do anything.

Pat and his team hit it out of the park. We had an incredibly tight space to work with and Cloonan Design exceeded our dreams with a resort style pool, hardscape and landscape install. The consummate professionalism from design to each of the trades shows in the workmanship and final product. Pat came highly recommended, and quite frankly I cannot wait to work with him and his team again. I wish I could give more than five stars!

We went through 2 landscape designers whose designs were nice but did not hit our desired outcome. Cloonan's design was interesting, unique and accomplished all of our objectives. We had a somewhat complex project as we had an 8 ft. drop from our house to the lowest point in the yard which requires 12-16 steps. However, we did not want more than 4-5 steps in any one spot and were very specific in many of the design elements. We were also trying to incorporate multiple features into a relatively small area (patio, fire pit, bocce court, play yard plus more). While reasonable, we were very involved in most details of the project. The project from beginning to end had open communications. There were definitely some challenges given this project was done during Covid. However with transparency and professionalism from design to construction to follow up, the outcome is stunning and reflective of the effort and financial commitment. Patrick and Noah Cloonan and all of the sub-contractors used on the project combined to provide a high quality and impressive transformation of our yard which we can enjoy and will last for many many years. Everyone who has seen it is very impressed.

Pat REALLY listened to us and developed a beautiful design that respected the house, grounds, our desires and his artistic sensibility. The work he completed for us encompassed a large, new patio with a tastefully designed in-ground pool and spa, retaining walls, gorgeous landscaping all around the house, installation of a new restful shaded walk/picnic/hammock area near our pond and beautiful planters in and around the house and patio areas. Pat really knows his plant materials - he selected the perfect period appropriate vegetation for our 1853 house. Pat is the friendliest person you will ever want to meet. His crews show up on time, are courteous, very hard working and do extraordinary work in a short amount of time! We are extremely happy with the results and grateful for the great working relationship during the project.

Patrick Cloonan did an awesome job redesigning my rather boring backyard, creating an outdoor paradise for my husband and myself. The outside kitchen and patio he built is the center of our existence during the Spring and Summer months. An excellent venue to host barbecues and other activities. Depending on the weather, we utilize this space into the Autumn months. The water feature he designed is one of a kind, not a generic kit. It is beautiful, mixing the elements of fire and water to provide the perfect centerpiece to our gorgeous garden oasis

Patrick and his team built us a pool beyond our expectations. Due to space limitations and the grade of the land it was a complicated job and we are astonished by the end result, it has exceeded our expectations. We have been working with Pat Cloonan for 20 years. He has helped us design our pool yard, landscape, and most recently served as our contractor for a 4,000 square foot house addition and renovation in addition to revamping our pool yard and landscape. Most said there was no way we could get it all done in a year, but we did--thanks to Pat's dedication, professionalism and commitment. We had been looking for a designer/contractor for a backyard renovation for a few years. We had an old above ground pool, a huge deck and very dated landscaping that had simply become an eyesore. We were lucky to have found Pat Cloonan for our renovation. He was able to “read” our tastes and design a much needed upgrade that provides wonderful living/entertainment spaces - the best part is no one could ever tell that these spaces were an addition, everything fits so perfectly. Watching his design come to life in our backyard was just incredible! The construction process was well planned out, moved quickly and the quality of the finished product is impeccable. In addition to the backyard upgrades, Pat also oversaw installation of all new siding, shutters, trim, gutters as well as a brand new driveway. The upgrades at our home were not small scale by any means, and the end product is beautiful. The design and quality of workmanship are unsurpassed. Pat made us very comfortable with such a large construction project and we will ALWAYS use Pat Cloonan Design when making upgrades to our home.

We used Cloonan Design a few years ago to create our dream backyard. We are so happy with the results! Pat listened to every detail on our wish list of what we thought we wanted to have in our small backyard. We got it all. A stunning backyard pool, hot tub, water feature, fire bowls, fireplace, outdoor tv area, bocce court, a pizza oven and a full kitchen located next to a pergola pavilion. It was a great experience and we would do it again. Pat helped us to hand select only the finest material from pool tile, to landscape plants, to the tiny terra cotta chimney cap details on the pizza oven and fireplace. Our backyard has now been copied by many people, but they can't compete with the quality and professionalism that we have received from Pat. If you really want it to be done right, Cloonan design Services are highly recommended.

Pat Cloonan approached this project with a flexible vision and a determination to meet the quality, budget and time frame in a way I have not often experienced. However, I did experience his capability in 2005 when he managed a $1,000,000 plus project for me with the same excellent result. He is professional, competent and honest.

Patrick was fantastic throughout the entire process of our pool, patio, pool room addition and landscape design and construction. First, his ideas on how to incorporate a large inground pool and patio into a relatively small yard with an existing septic system were wonderful. Not only does our backyard look like it was designed at the same time as our home, but Patrick had a lot of great cost-saving ideas that allowed us to use existing landscaping, the scope of our yard, etc.. He was always available to answer questions, and held all of the contractors to very high standards. Patrick designs prove that he is an artist, but he is also organized as a project manager which can be a rare combination. The end result is a backyard space that we will cherish for the rest of our lives!

Our home was a new construction and we hired Patrick Cloonan of Cloonan Design Services Inc. to design and execute our landscaping project in phases. Patrick is one of the most talented and friendly guys you will ever come across. He has an acute eye for detail. Patrick is very trustworthy and is extremely reliable. He has done some of the most impressive projects you will ever see. That said, he will design a plan that fits your tastes and budget accordingly. I have seen Patrick's projects ranging from 10,000 to over 1 million dollars. Regardless of the size of the project it gets done correctly and beautifully. One of the highest compliments I can give Patrick comes from the respect of the specialists he employs to work on his projects with him. They admire him in a way that you just don't see nowadays. They love working with him. They also do incredible work. You will see Patrick on the job site working alongside his crew getting things done. Patrick and his crew are also great problem solvers and if something unexpected arises they quickly and intelligently find a viable solution. Cloonan Design Services did an outstanding job. Very professional, high quality work. The best part was the design elements that Patrick came up with. His designs are bold and beautiful. He comes up with design concepts that are functional and impressive. The outdoor fireplace, patio and all the related hardscaping / landscaping look wonderful and provide a fun additional outdoor living space.

Patrick created an outdoor space for us which feels like an extension of our indoor space. The hardscape complements our new construction both outside and on the inside looking out! He is on-site regularly and checks the work of contractors to make sure all work is completed according to plan or that the plan is adjusted if need be. Contractors like working for Patrick. He has a great sense of aesthetic and helped us make the right choices. Love this fireplace!

I have known Pat for 20 plus years he has designed the landscape on two of my homes, and i have referred him to many friends over the years with 5 star results. He is the best designer in NE Ohio.

This is the second time Pat has worked with us-the previous time was 25 years ago at our former home. I love working with him. He listens!! I asked for low maintenance, deer resistant plants and he delivered with a smile! All his contractors were talented and did exactly as they promised promptly and with courtesy -the results are beautiful and have the simplicity and elegance we asked for. Pat is very easy to work with. He is dedicated to his projects and works extremely hard to exceed his clients expectations.

We met Pat 25 years ago when we built our first house. It was contemporary and he designed a colored concrete geometric drive/courtyard. Now we've built another home and turned to Pat for lawn, landscape, irrigation and drive concepts and then their construction. In his design role, he was creative and respectful of our wish for a modest cost product. To achieve this, we separated the grading and drive work from our excellent builder and turned this responsibility to Pat to best integrate our plan, get quotes, select contractors and supervise the work.. It was late in summer approaching fall when the burst of color and natural materials arrived to compliment our house and its setting. Pat worked closely on site with each contractor and personally adjusted bed design and plant placement. Beginning with a stamped concrete rear patio and stone walls; a similar style front entry and steps; beds, trees, plants and finally finishing with the lawn. We've included some pictures during construction followed by fall from the air and the grass established with leaves dropping. We highly recommend Pat and staff.

Cloonan Design Services - and notably, Pat Cloonan - has consistently surpassed me and my family's expectations. First, Pat designed my parents' backyard/garden, where my wedding took place. Though he had originally designed the landscape years before, he reimagined the space as a backdrop for a 330-person wedding, even creating an "aisle" out of flowers. His re-invigoration of the garden for the big event was remarkable, making it feel incredibly lush and truly gorgeous. Please see photos. Second, Pat and his team landscaped my new home, located in a traditional suburb outside of Cleveland. He managed to both build a beautiful waterfall (to drown out street noise) and re-design our front yard without straying from the traditional, 1930s style of our home and neighborhood. Please see photos. Pat is very approachable and listens carefully to his clients. He is easily reachable and always responds to questions quickly and thoroughly. He is ready and willing to clearly offer his expertise in an effort to guide clients' decision-making but never asserts his opinion over the client's in a forceful way. Cloonan Design Services provided a turnkey job to add a new 2 car garage with an outdoor kitchen and entertainment area, and completely new landscaping in our back yard area. They provided the design and blueprints for the completed construction. They took the blueprints to our area zoning board for approval. All the contractors chosen for this improvement were highly skilled and diligent in their workmanship. Cloonan Design Services provided a detailed estimate that was fair and just and with the high quality materials.The job was completed on time and on budget. I would highly recommend their services for any future construction or remodeling.
